EVERY diesel engine has it's own distinct cold-start "smell", whether it's a Cat, Cummins or old 2-stroker Detroit. I can literally SMELL this cold-start....and my eyes are watering like I've just been maced right about now...LOL.
im from the uk back in the seventies my dad had a seddon with a 220 rolls no plugs sometimes he used to light a rag or paper and put it in the air cleaner that used to aid cold starting when he ran out of cold start

i believe the 220 cummins is a small-bore (743c.i.) block, not the big bore (855 c.i.), right?
