The thing about the qualification badges is pretty common german behaviour...over here, every badge you own ends up on your uniform...either to show off, or to actually tell everyone "look, I can do alot of stuff..."...

You can also, independently from your units actual mission, accuire paratrooper, sniper and other qualifications simply by attending and of course succeeding in the courses...so some people think "might as well try it out" earn the badge and put it on their uniform.

German KSK and other Special ops operate in almost every operation a ally does. Because there is no official OK from the German Goverment they cant wear a german uniform. Its just that simple.

I don't know if this video is the case but allied forces have something very similar to exchange students where you can serve in another countries armed forces. I know that Canada / U.S.A has this but our Canadian guys like to have their Canadian flag patch on them when possible.

Guttenberg war andauernd in Afghanistan, bei der Truppe, und hat sich angehört wos klemmt. DAS macht einen guten Verteidigungsminister aus...der Vorgänger war ja schon von der Vorstellung, das da unten ein Krieg ist, extrem abgetan.

Und das DeMaziere jetzt am rumnörgeln ist, ist doch wohl logisch, ist doch grad in Mode da oben.

Halbfertig war Guttenbergs Arbeit nicht nur weil er "rausgeekelt wurde", wenn man "bei Betrug erwischt" mit "rausekeln" umschreiben möchte.

Gutenberg hat weder die Truppe auf zukünftige Aufgaben vorbereitet noch auf das notwendige Maß zurechtgeschrumpft und aufgabenbezogen ausgerüstet. Er hat sich auch nicht auf die Folgen der überstürzten Abschaffung der Wehrpflicht vorbereitet. Das darf jetzt alles sein Nachfolger ausbaden, welcher weniger werbewirksam umherreist aber dafür arbeitet.

Wearing one countries military uniform while being in service with another one is illegal according to the international recognized laws of war and is treated as a war crime. See "Operation Greif during ww2"

Therefore there cannot be "special units" which have such a nonsensical requirement. How naive can anyone be ?

The special German forces take part of the fight against Al Kaida. They are called KSK. Kommando Spezial Kräfte.

Everybody in Germany knows that we have this troops and we also know that they act in Afghanistan but it is top secret what they do exact. And for their own safety I don't think they would talk to anybody about it. And!!! they wear the German uniform not the American also this man talk about. Thats the part where about I don't believe him.

Yeah, of course there were German soldiers working alongside US forces in Afghanistan! It's a freakin' NATO mission! Duh! The US and Germany plus a long list of other countries belong to NATO. As for the uniforms; they have to be all the same when in a combat area where troops of different countries are fighting together, hence the word UNIFORM. When in an area where German forces are responsible for security, they wear their own uniforms. NATO doesn't have a uniform because it's not UN.

HAHAHA.... every country in NATO and many not, have their soldiers embedded within foreign ranks.... Most of these troops are of highly trained and specialized elite units.... I have worked with such soldiers, and been a part of such deployments..... It's what allies do... before the US was involved in WW2, many americans worked with the chinese, canadian, british, and even the russian militaries, wore their uniforms and everything. The US paid those countries, which in turn paid the americans!!

However, a few months later, the base paper posted a photo and article about German forces working with Americans in northern Iraq on special operations.

the ksk(Kommando Spezialkräfte) is a part of the "bundeswehr" (german army), its a speciell unit, like the GSG9, a part from the german police and a special unit either.

so the KSK is working for the bundeswehr, the missions and where they are, who they are and how they get their jobs done, is a top secret thing, nobody knows it.

Noone realy knows what the KSK/SEKM is doing ! Opperations in Iraq afghanistan or other places ! Maybe in 10 years we will know it ! But this is typicly German .. no infos for noone ! KSK/SEKM or GSG9 ... you hear nothing about them in germany !

ksk means:"kommando-spezial-kräfte­"...these are special-forces of german army,very hard trained and are ca.1.100 soldiers.the main-order is fight agains terrorism,reconnaissance,evacu­ation and kommando-war.i think,noone knows the implications,only himself.ksk-soldiers arent mercenaries...they are professional-soldiers,and fight only of order from germany...thats per german law.what they really do,and for which army,noone know it!

ok..thanks!2 years ago,i rode in a newspaper,that german soldiers meet british soldiers in iraq, near basra.they asked the britains for drinking and foot.after the lunch,they said:"youve never seen us,if you talk about this meeting,you will have trubble"

i thought,thats not real...ive never heard again from a case like this,but if its really true,i know:the politicans are shitting the populace and soldiers.

i am soldier too (logistic-soldier),but nobody talk about those cases...

that can be tru because the germany arme have a elite force the KSK and we sand 100 of this force to help the USArmy! but what they do down ther is a secred for the german civilians because the missions of the ksk is secred (i dont know why sry ^^)!

like other elite forces (SAS, Special ops...)

The Government HAS to keep certain things like SPECIAL military operations a secret in order to avoid a state of panic. Also, when in war with another country the best weapon you have, or the best attack you have is one they don't know about. It's much safer this way.

Yes it was a huge mistake. The commanders on site panicked and called in the airstrike a real tragedy... but you should also keep in mind that other nations made mistakes far worse than this. The only reason why people care is because of Germany's past.

there was a scandal about german enlightment troopers serving for the us army. germany in fact got involved in the iraq war, but only with a few troopers, whose mission was to find hostile tragets.

Of course the would have worn a army uniform, to not risk being caugt on tape.
