eventually your lamps (light bulbs) will turn brown from the adheasive on the tape heating up. especially if you are using a T8 or T12 or HO T5. i have two alternate ideas for you. 1. buy food service lamp covers, basically a clear high temp plastic tube that slides over the lamp. 2. a wire cage guard. remember when you break a flourescent tube lamp not only does the glass go everywhere but mercury dust explodes out of it. please wipe down all serface.enjoyed the video better luck next time
I'm an avid camper, never have I been able to get biscuits to come out correctly. I've used sterno, propane, and other heat sources, and nothing, my biscuits are always raw. I've done the rocks and dutch oven method and that works great, it just takes so long and you are limited to the rocks staying at a lasting temp. Can you please tell me what all you are using in the video and if you succefully got the biscuits to cook thouroughly, or post a video of a successful attempt. Thanks:)
FYI... they sell at Lowes / HomeDepot (etc) clear plastic tubles to put the long bulbs into to protect against what you encountered. They are in the same section as the the shop light fixtures.
I've thought this, but the problem is that I cannot buy canned soft margerine. Milk can be had canned, and can be consumed quickly, and flour and sugar being dry are good in zip lock bags, but the spread needs keeping cold continually or canning. Do the little catering portion control packs prove suitable, I wonder.
i think its because he's trying to pack as light as possible. im assuming he's a traveler. and mixing some of own would go bad faster than those baking mixes that already come packaged
well i'll give ya a bit of secret if you didn't know.
Try to put lightning behind of camera, that won't ruin by doing too much light. Also try to put out some of lights down, so they don't put much light. Hope this helps. Bye bye
Tinny, great video like always, and i got first comment :) im also looking at getting a kit built that all fits in one, maybe you can help me with this? looking forwerd to talk soon.
They make a plastic safety tubes for the light bulbs. not sure who sells them but we have them at work. you can check out J&L Industrial supply. Good job on the video
Hay .. Tinny I would have thought someone would have pointed you toword a Bambo steamer by now ... You do not need to have you cooking pot in side your water pot ... Just put your steamer on top of your water pot , as long as your wooden steamer is far enough from the fire your good
Tenny ..I would have thought someone would have pointed you to the bambo steamer by now . ..Your pot does not need to be in side the water pot to work . Just sat a small bambo steamer on top of your water pot , as long as the wooden steamer is far engh from the fire your all right
I think you should mix this up using a bowl and palette knife. The dough should tighten as you mix with a cutting action with the knife. Add 2/3 of required liquid. If you are using all your strength then add a little more liquid. When it is all mixed in even the dough will be tight and can easily be formed into a ball.
If you can get tinned soft spread, you can make up your own mix easily.
I typically make my own scone (biscuit) mix and find that less than 12 minutes in a hot oven does not cook the dough thoroughly. This even applies if the fat levels are a little too high. Of major significance I find that allowing the dough to rest for at least 1/2 hour improves the scone by vast reduction of crumbling. The dough should be touch dry immediately before cooking and reserving a little flour and water so as to be able to adjust the mix to get this helps no end.
2. they make plastic tubes for those bulbs, grocery stores use them often since the flr bulbs contain poison which spreads like powder when broken! be careful
On the fluorescent light bulbs....Lowes sells a clear plastic tube that completely encloses the entire bulb. I have them on all my shop lights and they work great.
Those biscuits are quite good. IIRC, the directions specify a fairly hot oven so you probably will need to cook'em longer in a boiling-water style oven. I'd also suggest giving the 3-cheese with garlic variety a try - very tasty.

It's really hard to burn when steaming. If in doubt, let it go longer.

why do you always use those instant baking mixes? try to mix some of your own.... should be much healthier.

Great work, enjoy your vids and stove designs.
two tips for ya Tinny.
1. Look into Bannock bread, cheap and easy.
many eat this while camping.
2. they make plastic tubes for those bulbs, grocery stores use them often since the flr bulbs contain poison which spreads like powder when broken! be careful

Why dont you have to preheat the alcohol? Iv made stoves before but the vapors had to be under pressure to light.
