  • @reallyreallygoodpie I have Polish roots, hooray for us :).

  • @Mrbiggerthanlife I thought the very same thing.

  • I'm an ex-pat, living abroad, and hearing this makes me yearn to return to my beloved home New Orleans where I can hear this type of music almost any day of the week in any number of my favorite clubs. God bless New Orleans.

  • Listening to this, smokin` grass in an old Chevy `38 and you`re almost in heaven xD

  • is the transcription in concert pitch?

  • @jazzouttathefridge it's in Bb.

  • @CEMuSiC1 I think it's in Eb

  • @brodefk The sheet in the video says it's in F

  • @JanezHrast The sheet says F because it's music for Bb trumpet, so it's a step up from the concert pitch

  • some only have ears so they can wear glasses.

This is great thanks for sharing! Trummy smokes!

  • if ya dont like this song then listen with your ears ....

  • Some people ask what has America ever given the world. This man and his music are high on that list if you ask me.

  • @Ghanima62

Truly - this is blues if ever!

  • @Ghanima62 I totally agree!

  • @Ghanima62 Oh man, this man was not given to world by America. He was given by God.

  • Comment removed

  • @1994manik totally agreed fella

  • the best to to to bing bing bing

  • What a great recording. Transcription needs to be redone, however.

  • Neil might have walked on the moon...but it was Louis who romanced and ultimately seduced her.

  • @pooperscoopr69 I got goosebumps after reading this comment...so right

  • @pooperscoopr69

yeah, what a way to put it, Jackson! Beautiful!

  • @pooperscoopr69 Very well said!

  • @pooperscoopr69 Who's Neil? I thought Louis Armstrong flew to the moon and won the Tour De France five times

  • @pooperscoopr69 Romanced his strong arm?

  • @pooperscoopr69 What a wonderfull clause.

  • bambosaay yetdo zen ba bo po san yeess vandam ooo mmm. my grand children will love this =)

  • Louis Armstrong playing West End Blues - and its synchronized to the sheet music, so play along - phenomenol !

  • Hey everyone, why the hell are talkin about your age?!! I mean there's no age to listen to good music.

  • @AlexisGuitar94 You're right, bro:). Armstrong reaches EVERYBODY who responds to music, regardless of his/her age. I know several people who hadn't been all that interested in music beyond some pop records. Yet when I played Pops' records for 'em (especially "West End Blues") they fell in love:) --

  • @stevevandien that's cool man that's cool :)

  • Great work! Thanks for the transcription. My students will love this.

  • Simply the best jazz music ever written played by the best jazz musician ever to grace this planet. Truly amazing.

  • There is simply no bad Louis Armstrong. I think that anyone who comes to this site and has an appreciation for Armstrong simply MUST listen to his 1920s first recorded version with his wife and the Hot Fives. Please do yourself a favor and buy his Hot Fives. This is American music at its definitive best.

  • @kilgatron I bought the complete collection of the Hot Fives and Hot Sevens and i must say, those recordings do not disappoint. My Favorite number is King of The Zulus, his trumpet solo in that song ALWAYS makes my day

  • @caloscalante1518

Where did you find the Fives and Sevens? I would buy them myself. Nothing cheers me up more than listening to these songs. My favorite is probably Potato Head Blues, but West End is starting to grow in my head.

You know about Lil Harden Armstrong? I've read three biographies on Louis and each one is better. Fascinating man and times.

  • @kilgatron Well i got them on itunes for 35 bucks. i think in total its like 80something songs. Oh Yeah i Love Potato Head Blues also.. the one I'm really listening to is Heebie Jeebies. What are the titles of the Bios you have read?

  • What album features this version of the song?

  • And reinpost, you are incorrect, these are the notes played..

  • @cryofwar3 Even though these notes fit for a lot of the parts, they match

the original recording note for note and beat for beat. The transcription is

taken from Jacque's Trumpet Transcription Site- a really great resource!

It states on the pdf file that this transcription is for the original 1929 recording

    Best regards,

    johnsurs22

  • Untouchable, Sachmo

  • cool thanks for the music

  • the notes appear to be those of the original recording, not this one

  • Comment removed

  • the best blues song i have ever heard in my entire life...i feel like crying everytime i hear this song especially when the trombone solo comes in

  • Get it Mannnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!

    I love this!!!

    Absolute beauty!!!

Don't play the trumpet but I do play the Bass...

    WoW!!!!

    Speechless

  • Foi muito bem bolado este vídeo. Parabéns. Beutiful, beutiful. This is my two words for a definition.

  • That bone played the crap out of his solo.

  • WOW

  • 17 retards have seen this video

  • @rom3omustdi3 18 and counting...

  • @rom3omustdi3 ha ha ha the politically correct term nowadays is special needs. LOL and yes they need some taste.

  • @rom3omustdi3 dat not veery niec u a meanie head because i dont like et dont make me ill get mad!

  • @rom3omustdi3 It is exactly comments like these that just adds more thumbsdown. You are simply degrading their taste in music, whether they seriously dislike this song or just assholes about it. But now that I read this comment, I plan on indulging myself to becomming an "asshole" as well and disliking it....haaha

  • @jparkerhaman Right on! you tell em! Lol I also agree with you fully.

  • @rom3omustdi3 Retards? Kinda of rude don't you think? and the 45 people that thumbed you up are just as equally rude! Go to your nearest Liberian and ask for a dictionary then improve and add to your oh so immature vocabulary. - thank you!

  • @MonkeyBones4434 You're retarded.

  • @MonkeyBones4434 Don't tell people to ask for a dictionary when you cannot spell "librarian". But I agree with you. While those people are dumb, "retard" is too far and mean to mentally handicapped.

  • Thanks a lot for the upload! and the written music!

  • I grew up in West End, New Orleans, not real far from where Armstrong grew up.

  • Trummy young's trombone at 1:09 is heaven on earth.

  • One of the great pieces of 20th century Western music. Louis' original 1928 version is superb, but this one, recorded nearly 30 years later, draws power from the live audience. I'm a professional writer and some people have told me that I'm pretty good with words. But good grief, I can't begin to describe my emotional/intellectual/spiritual responces to "WEB."

  • don't forget also Edmond Hall, clarinet

  • LOVE IT REMINDS ME OF LOONY TUNES LOL

  • Wow Billy Kyle!!

    He's so wonderful!!!

  • Marvel

  • I love louis

    best blues ever

    much love bobby

  • <3 hiiiim! this kind of music is sooo atractiiive!

  • Incredible, and almost 30 years after his original recording. Just astounding that at age 55 Pop's chops were still this strong, AND that this concert occurred at the height of his 300 shows-a-year gruelling schedule. An exhausting itinerary, and he was able to sound like this night after night!

  • @Urbino237 Incredible indeed. Pops was a phenomenon as well as a genius:) --

  • @stevevandien I try every morning to listen to a piece or two by Louis and one by Mozart or Chopin...

  • @Urbino237 Man, talk about fast company -- for Mozart or Chopin, that is:) Best, Steve

  • @stevevandien definately a close comparison for songs. Love that Chopin and Motzart, but you just gotta love this too!

  • @MedicineMaster Amen, brother!

  • With this, Armstrong changed the face of music forever and for the better. Thanks for the posting.
