Yes well Im a black Hispanic, greek Aussie chinese white yellow black Immigrant from Scotland and I found this Video and all comments to be really racist and pollitically correct/incorect. This whole world needs to bow down to my beliefs and culture and If you call me a sensitive dickhead.....well your just being racist too!!!!!
yeah alot of peaple dont like to talk about sterotypes but yeah i definitly belive that white and black peaple will definitly play there intrument a lil differnt black but lets face it its well known that black folks have great natural rthym , im a white boi just so you all know
I guess black people are smoother at playing drums, or it could be that black people are generally playing music that demands smoother playing, if you can say blacks are smoother than you could say that whites are more technical (chris pennie, ron jazarmbek, and all the other death metal and progressive drummers.
Well, I kinda half-agree with you. It's not a racial difference. It's a cultural difference that tends to divide along racial b/c of slavery/jim crow. A black person who grows up listening to funk, r&b, and gospel will probably incorporate it into their playing. My white friends don't tend to listen to that stuff so they seem to have trouble with things like syncopation. It's like how people have trouble swinging. I know plenty of black people who don't quite have a feel for it.
They don't listen to jazz anymore. I mean, swing still exists in a lot of black music, but it's not as prevalent. Black people still tend to be better at it, but I bet if you compared the listening habits of whites and blacks, I bet you'd find that the white people don't listen to music with swing so when they have to do it, it's like a completely alien world. Of course, this isn't true of all white/black people, but it's about your musical background, not your race.
that totally depends, I mean I'm not trying to say metal is the hardest type of music, but depending where you come from (your base genre or style) it can be very difficult or very easy. I don't think that a genre is easy to play that depends on the drummer not the style they play, like dave weckl and vinnie.
There's amazing drummers both black and white! end of. Everyone's crying about this lesson being rubbish (and it is) but it's a beginners lesson so why not just dry your eyes ladies and search for something more to your taste.
If you knew anything about drums then you'd know that some of the best drummers that ever lived were white. You probably haven't heard of him before but you should check this guy out, he's called Buddy Rich.
16th note triplets aren't that advanced, just cause he's white doesn't mean he can't play. Maybe just for being the devil's advocate, maybe black people over play? I don't believe that, but it's the same thing.
man i am white too and this is a lesson for noobs. It took me so long to understand timeing and rythm of gospel fills, so why dont u just go and try some gospel licks to see that u don't feel it ?
this lesson is really easy and not hard to understand, i understand that. I can do gospel fills, not like eric moore, tony royster jr, thomas pridgen, ronald bruner jr, aaron spears, gerald heward. I can do them, hey by the way since I know your trying to be smart, heres an idea, call gospel fills linear fills, because that's what they're actually called, metal drummers do a lot of "gospel fills" I guess. I'm not trying to start a fight, you're not worth it.
Oh, im not starting a fight either, but what i am saying is fuck this lessons for noobs, this is not what i am looking for while i figure out how to play nice and sweet! and the idea of calling gospel fills linear doesn't seem very smart to me dude cuz every fill that I know is less or more linear, it is just what u make of it. what i am trying is to play like all of them and you know what, i dont think that your gospel licks sound out of beat and as smooth as the ones of any black random drummer
It doesn't seem smart because you don't realize that linear fills are literally what they are called (playing only one note at a time, thats the definition). type it in and see what you get. My bad for fucking blasting back at you, but you didn't have to watch this and people develop at their own rate, and you were that "shitty" at one point.
AVAmarc182 is right.the guy in the video is focusing too much on counting and lets his hand lag for a beat about when he says "two" . very miniscule but its there
well this guy has a masters in drums do ou really think ur better than him AND THAT U COUNT BETTER THAN HIM....i have a dec in music ive ben playin for 15 years played for many artists like corneille and gage(french artist) so do you really want to argue w/ me!!!
yea I do... the evidence is right there.. he counts out of time with what he is playing, it's not MASSIVELY out of time but enough for me to hear it.. if you've been playing for 15 years.. do this.. tap along on the table with him counting.. not the hi hat.. between 0:56-1:06.. you'll notice there is a flan there
okay... so I hit the wrong key.. boo hoo... why would he flam on purpose in a basic rock beat? and I like blink and don't care for your opinion on them... good day sir
omg god you retarded fuck knuckle.. if you play with one hand along to his counting... you know.. the numbers coming out of his mouth.. and one hand with the hi hat... there will be, at one point a flam.. I cannot explain any clearer then that.. and you haven't heard me drum so you can't know if I suck or not..
just because we don't use the same terminology doesn't mean it's not still there.. which is my point.. call it what ever you want.. the guy still fucks up

You're wrong. I didn't see a dessert in 0:56-1:06. It's called a FLAM.
I'm sure he flammed with his one hand and his closed hi-hats. You're totally wrong and Blink 182 sucks.

Yeah that's not a flam still. There's nothing wrong with his counting and you can't be that great if you're going to try to pick apart THIS video.
