  • @travis86, For real ? get over it ya damn racist. What u said is racist

  • Choking is not the number one cause of infant death. It's not even in the top three: SIDS, birth and genetic defects, and conditions associated with prematurity and low birth weight (National Institutes of Health). The information in this video is important, but starting out with a false statement's not a great way to build confidence in the credibility of the source.

  • ATTENTION! If you need to get CPR, FIRST AID, BLOODBORNE PATHOGEN or any other related certification GO HERE: procpr.org/en/test/courses - take the FREE COURSE and exam. Im an aspiring student in the medical field and need to take my own tests. Thats why Im advertising this.

  • why dont they use a black baby?

  • these are very fluide movements I ve done this with my babies before when they were choking who knew I was doing infant cpr.

  • my dad gave me one massive smack to my back when I was a one year old and that pin I had chocked on came straight out!

  • this is not cpr, it's fbao! hmp

  • and when do you check the airway to see if its clear? just keep doing compressions and back slaps while the thing that baby was choking on might be already dislodged?

  • Does this work when baby is choking from liquid (throw up/spit up) coming from her mouth and nose? Or is there something else to do?

  • I saved my sister plastic doll life my doing this THANK YOU!!

  • My dad saved my life by doing this when i was a baby

  • I had a choking scare with my 7 month old today. Its such a terrifying feeling not knowing what to do. Luckily grandma was there and now im going to make sure i know exactly how to take care of him if, god forbid, this every happens again.

    thank you!

  • I'm glad I watched these videos. My son is almost 2, and when i wasn't looking, he stuck something in his mouth and was severely choking on it. Between my husband and I we could not get it out. We tried to hook a finger to pull the object out, and in doing so our son actually swallowed what he was choking on. He never lost consciousness and is perfectly fine now. It was a terrifying experience and now that I know how to properly handle this type of situation.

  • sure......... pretend its someone else baby

  • se demoran mucho con eso se me muere el baby

  • do you call 911 or the parents first???

i was told 911 but i wana make sure!

  • @AmberJane3810

Hi Amber Im a NICU nurse and the first thing you want to do is tell someone else to call 911. Seconds can be crucial and if a baby is choking you don't want to waste anytime

  • The back slaps are way to high on the bay's back. It must be right between the shoulderblades. Otherwose you might hit the back of his head.

This procedure is ONLY FOR COMPLETELY BLOCKED AIRWAYS. If the baby is caughing or crying or making a sound of any kind, do not use this procedure.

  • @MarcelPichault What does one do in that case then?

  • @kskiska In case of partial choking (caughing...) you must keep the baby in a sit up position and confort him while he's using the natural dislodging means. If you think the obstruction is serious enough, call an emergency service (911 for ex). Remain calm, confort the baby and survey the evolution. If the object is fairly visible, you can carefully remove it with your finger. Do not try to go in the throat.

Giving slaps in this case can make things only worst.

  • for a 3 month old choking on breastmilk?? or just solid objects?

  • @lilcowgirl54 The procedure you see in the video is for an infant whose airway is bloked. At this point, no air can pass through and there is no coughing. If your baby CAN cough, that's a good thing as it is the body's natural way of correcting the problem.

  • My gramother has so many of my relatives living there that they don't pick up after their mess also my daughter always use a pacifier that day I listen to my grandmother not to use a pacifier and look what happened My daughter was choking when she was 1 1/2 with a small plastic I was nervous, but I did it and I have another one a stranger from an agency gave my daughter a candy I looked at this stranger of anger and yup she was sure choking again and she was 3 1/2 and I did it again.

  • @gorgeouslinda so looking @ the stranger was of great importance instead of taking the candy away

  • @shurriexryuuki that's common sense to do, but what you don't realize I was 10 feet away from my daughter I'm glad I did look at the stranger otherwise I would have never known my daughter having a candy otherwise for sure she would have choke don't get me wrong I was keeping an eye on my daughter at all times I have good instinct that this was going to happen.

  • @gorgeouslinda it's not that i don't realize but it's just story did not state that and i guess who wants to type a detail story but for what it's worth it's always good to be careful

  • @shurriexryuuki my story didn't state everything I figure everyone had an idea...

  • @gorgeouslinda each situation is different so if someone is not present then assuming would be wrong

  • @shurriexryuuki Im more stumped at the fact she said her daughter was almost 4 and joking on candy still? Just seems odd.

  • @clairewkd4496 Even adults can choke on candy...

  • I'd give melanie some back thrusts

  • hahaha hell ya me2

  • @AirmanJeff Absolutely! I'd give Melanie something to choke on.

  • I watched this video Friday night and on Sunday, my 4 1/2 month old got something stuck in her throat. I was able to calmly dislodge it by using these techniques. Thank you for sharing!

  • lmao!

    too right.

  • ya, i had the entire baby on my forearm when i was taught cpr, we didnt tuck it in. thats ok too right?

  • Isn't it supposed to have baby's leg apart from your arm when facing down? or the two legs have to be under your armpit?

  • i now know CPR i took my class a month ago,im now certified! :)

  • Haa Like Peter Griffin

  • lol i know right :D

  • i thought the numba one cause for infant death is SIDS

  • ugh would you really be wanting to put her face to ceiling if she has something stuck in her throat?? That is just going to allow it to slip back further - hence the recovery position when someone is unconscious. Oh dear.

  • lol "We call this baby sandwhich"..."I say treat baby like a ketchup bottle" lol this video is pretty great and helpful!

  • It would be easier to place the baby's legs between your arm. Align the baby's body parallel to your arm.

  • i learned to stand while doing it while switching back and forth every step i take!!!, and i place the legs between my arm and walk twards the phone to call 911.....i do it differently i guess, cuz im a teen babysitter!!!

  • YAAAAAAAAhAHAHAHAaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAH!!!!!!

  • i thought back blows should not be that hard, even the chest thrust. The deepness of the fingers should only be 0.5-1 inch, come to think of it, were dealing with infants and not child..

  • who cares for back blows... ull know how hard to hit em, and for infants it is .5 to 1inch but for like babies less than 16 months its .5inch

  • Thanks!

  • Great video! Very helpful.
