You've got me on that one, I really don't know why no one's continued interpreting Robotnik that way outside of the comics. But such an issue leaves me torn because I happen to like Robotnik in Sonic X and the Sat Am incarnation for opinionated reasons: The Sat Am has the ruthlessness that puts most kid friendly villains to shame while the Sonic X incarnation is a bit more watered down but still pretty two faced.
