I agree with you about addressing the media when it first happened. but he did apologize during this interview.

They were personal photos and someone took extreme measures to get them. It's not his fault they were hacked. They were private photos.

I imagine it's because spring training starts in two weeks and he probably wanted to get it over with before then. Now he and the media can just focus on what's important now... baseball.
