There were many problems in his life and cocaine masked them, but at what cost? He started to live for the drug because it was the only thing that made him "happy." He prepared himself with the help from friends to use the LSD trip in an introspective manner and he was able to free himself from the addiction. He doesn't use LSD anymore.

The film obviously had a biased agenda, I don't think there was any consensus that acid use was lialbe to cause psychosis. The girl was actually quite articulate and well able to deal with the interviewers biased questioning. Like reefer madness, biased representations of drug use do society a disservice and probably do little to dissuade drug use. Yes certain individuals have adverse reactions to psychedelic drugs but usually because of underlying psychological conditions
