Mark Pauline!! I remember that guy. I went to a couple of his "shows" back around '82 or '81. He's one of the true pioneers of industrial art. MyGawd!! He's still at it! Hahaha. That guy use to blow up chickens and shit.

That screeching sound isn't the pulse jet; It is caused by an air compressor needed to force air into the intake to simulate an in-flight air stream. Back when V1 bombs were being launched, they needed to attain over 200mph before the engine would run reliably without outside assistance and needed to be catapaulted into the air for this reason.
Great video - I hope they got it to run consistently in the end.
