My family member had no history of suicide but when he went to his family medicine doctor, not even a board certified pschiatrist, he was prescribed anti-depressant drug for a back ache. 4 short years later my relative committed suicide and had Cymbalta, Abilify and 9 other prescriptions in his system. THe only surprise in this video is the surprise that this is happening. I thought it was well known. The FDA refers to "our customers" in internal documents, but they're not talking about the American public who fund the FDA while believing they're safeguarding their health. "Our customers" in internal FDA documents refers to drug companies. As in, "our customers need this drug approved before the end of this fiscal quarter."

BEWARE OF PSYCHIATRISTS. I was put on meds for Biopolar Disorder, Depression, and ADD. I felt like a zombie and the doctors literally told me my kidneys could fail but at least I wouldn't be bipolar! UGH! I went to a holistic doctor and she said I had an eating disorder and put me on herbs for anxiety and vitamins and minerals. She also did cognitive therapy. A holistic psychiartrist put me on Ativan "as needed."- I have only taken 2 pills in a whole year! GO TO A HOLISTIC DOCTOR.
Yup. My opinion is you can "cure" emotional distress (PTSD) with counseling and change of habits. Medicine is needed in severe cases- holsitic MDs can prescribe it. Therapy takes longer but it works. However the word cure means drug- it is illegal to say oranges cure scurvy even though they do. It is a government conspiracy.
I like being able to talk to others about these things. I always felt that something was wrong about our society and Its nice to see alot more people sharing the same concerns. If they are not advising on their own specific products, it is not a conflict of interest. That is akin to saying an appeals judge cannot rule on district cases because they both are employed by the Government.

These companies are all competing, so what is his ulterior motive? What expert in the field would not have any tie to the pharmacological industry? You would have to question their expertise if they haven't worked with them. Being a paid consultant does not make you a direct employee, and it is not like asking a restaurant employee to be health inspector. It is like asking a health inspector who ever worked at ANY restaurant to be a health inspector.

Paid consultants are rife in every industry, and if you are unaware of that, you should do further investigation. Being a paid consultant does not make for direct conflict of interest. Indirectly, we all have some conflict of interest with virtually anything. When a person does have a direct conflict (ex. Offit on the board of approval when his vaccine comes up for review) they are expected to recuse themselves from the particular case.
ok that was very helpful and imformative. This is an everyday battle for some of the psych patients who don't want to take these medications because if they fight it they get commited to state facilities. It is bad and horrible. Theres nothing else to do but comply or organize resistance.

My family member had no history of suicide but when he went to his family medicine doctor, not even a board certified pschiatrist, he was prescribed anti-depressant drug for a back ache. 4 short years later my relative committed suicide and had Cymbalta, Abilify and 9 other prescriptions in his system. My family member did NOT have to die. This is evil and the FDA and Pharmas are in on it. Shame on them. Innocent blood is on their hands for the almighty dollar. Thank you for your videos?

THe only surprise in this video is the surprise that this is happening. I thought it was well known. The FDA refers to "our customers" in internal documents, but they're not talking about the American public who fund the FDA while believing they're safeguarding their health. "Our customers" in internal FDA documents refers to drug companies. As in, "our customers need this drug approved before the end of this fiscal quarter."

Also UK readers may like to know that your Doctor gets a commission from many of the Pharmacy suppliers which is why many reach straight for the perscription pad as you walk in the door. Also, they will change your medication on the pretense that 'This one will suit you better' as the manufacturer of the new medication pays more.

I was reading an investigative report published by a local newspaper about the the companies contracted to test medications in blind studies for these large pharmaceutical companies and on the backside are allowed to invest in these same products they are testing, Apparently the FDA sees no conflict of interest.

BEWARE OF PSYCHIATRISTS. I was put on meds for Biopolar Disorder, Depression, and ADD. I felt like a zombie and the doctors literally told me my kidneys could fail but at least I wouldn't be bipolar! UGH! I went to a holistic doctor and she said I had an eating disorder and put me on herbs for anxiety and vitamins and minerals. She also did cognitive therapy. A holistic psychiartrist put me on Ativan "as needed."- I have only taken 2 pills in a whole year! GO TO A HOLISTIC DOCTOR.

Yup. My opinion is you can "cure" emotional distress (PTSD) with counseling and change of habits. Medicine is needed in severe cases- holsitic MDs can prescribe it. Therapy takes longer but it works. However the word cure means drug- it is illegal to say oranges cure scurvy even though they do. It is a government conspiracy.

The few that control the money (and therefore call the shots), want the population in the U.S. down between 125 to 150 million. Apparently you are unaware of comparison as well. Of the total number people prescribed medications, fewer of them die than the number that die of the total using illegal drugs.
People with drug addictions only care about getting high, not if the drug they are taking is legal or illegal.

out of 4 BILLION prescriptions. That is a rate of .00265 %. Also those numbers do not take into account people not telling their doctors what drugs they are on (Heath Ledger a perfect example). From Cocaine alone statistics say a rate of .008% will die every year. Alcohol is .07% not including alcohol related accidents.
Ergo, prescription drugs are significantly safer statistically.

Well yeah, I do consider myself ignorant in this area, but at the same time I do have some common sense, which these days is not as common, to realize that there is an incredible amount of corruption by the big companies that they will do anything to make a buck. So yeah, I'm very suspicious about them and any exposing of their work is welcome and encourage to do so. Now you seem to know better, at least that's what you think. Peace!

You should be more suspicious of the antivax groups who are all direct affiliates of holistic book publishing houses with no oversight and no responsibility to provide repeatable scientific evidence. Smaller groups make conspiracies that much more possible. 100,000's of people involved in vaccine work v. a few dozen "leaders" of anti-vax movements. Which is more likely conspiratorial?

All right, you're right on the analysis of common sense. So let''s take a closer look (as you state) at how things work. We live in a capitalist society where profit is #1. From banks bailouts to pharmaceuticals, special treatments are the work of lobbiests. Big money, I mean, huge, is spent here to make the rules to work on their favor. These people do not have your interest or mine in mind but profit. This enough reason for suspicion and need for watchdog organizations. Am I unreasonable?

With the internet, small fortunes can be made by few with just a tiny bit of information.
The pharmaceutical companies are certainly not guiltless, however what they are most guilty of is over charging people...creating new products only vaguely different from the old and pushing them. I do not think drugs should be directly marketed to the public. That said, they still have science and regulation behind them, imperfect as the system may be at times. Anti-vax groups have none.

See, if you did real research you would realize that number is irrelevant to the conversation. It is an inflation of people abusing prescribed drugs in the same manner that they abuse illegal drugs. Why don't you throw alcohol in there too?

So, you do not think that people are abusing narcotic prescription medicine which have similar profiles to heroin and cocaine?
If you have done any research you would know it to be fact that people take other people's medications. People mix medications that they are told not to take. People also take higher doses than they are supposed to take.
Your research sucks clearly because you are quoting the number that includes the abuse cases.

and what does that have to do with the price of eggs? There is still a conflict of interest when that one person works for two conflicting branches of work. Obviously there is going to be a conflict of interest if the guy is working for an agency that advises what would pretty much be his other employer, the pharm companies, enemy. I cant believe I have to even explain that.

If they are not advising on their own specific products, it is not a conflict of interest. That is akin to saying an appeals judge cannot rule on district cases because they both are employed by the Government.

how you can insist that there is no conflict of interest here? If they are indeed "playing the game" here, then do you really think they are going to dismiss themselves from a particular case? If that was the case, theyd have to dismiss themselves from just about every case that comes up, considering the ppl in question work for so many of these big name pharm companies. I really dont think I should have to explain exactly why there is a conflict of interest here, it is plain as day.

These companies are all competing, so what is his ulterior motive? What expert in the field would not have any tie to the pharmacological industry? You would have to question their expertise if they haven't worked with them. Being a paid consultant does not make you a direct employee, and it is not like asking a restaurant employee to be health inspector. It is like asking a health inspector who ever worked at ANY restaurant to be a health inspector.

Any possible conflict of interest situation simply is not allowed, period. It has become a general standard and for good reason, and yet here it doesnt? Paid consultants are rife in every industry, and if you are unaware of that, you should do further investigation. Being a paid consultant does not make for direct conflict of interest. Indirectly, we all have some conflict of interest with virtually anything. When a person does have a direct conflict (ex. Offit on the board of approval when his vaccine comes up for review) they are expected to recuse themselves from the particular case.

ok that was very helpful and imformative. This is an everyday battle for some of the psych patients who don't want to take these medications because if they fight it they get commited to state facilities. It is bad and horrible. Theres nothing else to do but comply or organize resistance.

My opinion about the internet is this; Society is evolving and although there are many symptoms of our advancing technology such as devision and mass texting, I do not believe that these are addictions, I believe that these are the future methods of communication and lifestyle.
Some people do indeed have addictions to gaming due to a serious lack of social activity, but the majority of communication is simply evolving into mediated communication due to the availability of technology.

16-20 hours a day. I'm on the internet from the moment I wake up till I go to bed at night.
To be fair though, it's -10 degrees outside so there isn't much else to do, I do my schooling over the internet which accounts for about 8-10 hours a day and I refuse to watch television because of it's hypnotic qualities. It's terrifying to me when I turn the corner into the living room and both of my children are standing there in a trance and are completely unresponsive to my calls. Spooky!

I would want nothing more than for an advisory commitee to be struck that consisted of persons who had a broad experience across seveveral interests within the pharmacutical world. Remember that those 12 different companies all have competing interests.
Would you otherwise like someone with no insight into the workings of the big pharms advising the FDA? Who would you choose?

Very well done. I'm certain you already know, but viewers may not, that the litany of associations of these physicians with external companies is referred to as "Full Disclosure." Each professional is required to disclose their associations with any and all organizations/companies that may affect their decisions. These clinicians would not be able to understand the +'s and -'s of the drugs/devices they are asked to comment on without the $ support. Their professional integrity is at risk
