Such eloquence, you are clearly skilled in the way of the English language.
I'm so pleased that you are adult enough to realise that there are markets for different people, that's quite an accomplishment for a walking abortion such as yourself. Speaking for abortions, how's you Mother? Tell her I said hi.
To be fair, he's typing too fast to the point that he's making mistakes. There has also been a firmware update on the Hero that fixed this problem, so no problem anymore :o)
So you're saying that I'm typing too fast for the hardware or the software? Either way surely if some is typing "too fast" then it's not the person at fault, it's the phone!
I have applied the latest ROM build and the phone is still a laggy piece of junk.
I use Takiller to kill apps - but Android is *supposed* to manage RAM by auto closing apps when it gets low on memory - maybe it's not that great after all.
in defense of the the hero, thats not the hero phone, so most likely your phone is not new enough for that software, and the sprint hero had not came out when you made this video so most likely the software would have been buggy. so chill
What? Of course it's the Hero phone - the Hero was released in Europe before the US and I can testify that it is the HTC Hero.
The software was the release ROM not some beta code. Even with the new ROM applied it's still not a great handset. The hardware just can't do Android justice at the moment. I run another Hero (white sim free) and an iphone 3GS and the Hero is noticeably laggy in everything, whether it;s openeing the menu or switching screens...it just doesn't cut it.
I test phones in work, so I have the opportunity to compare handsets directly as use them every day and not just have a go on one for a few mins to decide if any good or not. Had the Hero for a while now using alongside an iPhone 3GS and the iPhone spanks the Hero in every way.
Yes, of course that must be it. It couldn't possibly be that I'm right and that the Hero is slower could it?
Currently I use a Hero for work along side the iPhone. I am able to look at tech objectively, it;s part of my job. I want to like Android, I want to like the Hero.
If I didn't have an iPhone, then I would love the Hero, the problem is when you can compare it to other devices. That's when you see it's weaknesses, one of those weaknesses is the lag and general speed of usingt he device.
Sorry, no idea why it's blurry. I found that the overall package just wasn't up to much though - slow in everything, camera is awful and media playback is woefully unacceptable.
Anyway, I sold mine after having it only a week. I wanted to like it, but it's just not ready for mass consuption yet.
Yep I know...however I went for a factory unlocked iphone 3GS instead and it was snappy out the box! I'll take another look at Android in a year or so when the hardware is up to scratch.
It's a two way street cause here you have all these great feature packed android phones -- but the underlying CPU\hardware is JUNK -- then you have the OmniaHD (which iswhat I have) that has the best hardware imaginable, but no software...lol buying a phone sucks we should just all get iphones and jailbreak it and get it over with.
what will help is clearing out your cache from other app.. and to reset your phone daily... you might have too many apps running. plus the htc sense ui still has to bee optimized
I've already cleared cache, cookies and form entries. No other apps other than the usual as I use TasKiller all the time too. Widgets turned off in SenseUI, so not overloading it there.
hmm idk if u have root or not... but download overclock app and set the settings max 385 and min 380... hero seems to run bettter when underclock to 383mhz.
i run a hero rom on my g1 too. and ordered the tmobile uk hero so i can test it out in the US. i believe 3g will work since i am looking at the frequencies.
well the hero rom on g1s are actually more optimized than stock htc hero.
having app2sd and linux-swap and compcache helps the hero rom run better on the g1 but his all requires root.and shortens the life of the sd card.
I've got a class 6 SD card ordered, just waiting for delivery. Some people have said that they noticed a speed increase from this without rooting - could just be a placebo of course!
A few people in work have G1's, the one I looked at thins morning was clocked at what you said and was so much smoother than my Hero. Even when I scroll through the "People" contacts it's jerky.
T-Mob made me factory reset when called them, waiting fro a call back later to say it;s still laggy.
It's seems to be a 50/50 split whether you get a laggy or unlaggy unit., A lot of reviews have said they get no real lag and then a few have said they get it bad, have you tried reducing the amount of widgets you have running?
I've got mine coming on tuesday so ill let you know if I get any lag, fingers crossed it wont be that bad
lol my hero never lags that much.

Just seems odd that yours lags, when plenty of others I've seen don't. Perhaps you have a lot of apps running in the bg?

Well I've had my HTC Hero for a couple of days, and I've loaded it with widgets and apps and havnt had any slow down what-so-ever.
BUT there is good news for those who are experiencing slowdown and HTC are releasing an update in the next few weeks to supposedly fix the slowdown.

Have you tried typing with SenseUI disabled?

I've tried everything! However, it's sold with SenseUI so you should at least be able to use it!
On the phone T-Mobile now...lets see what they say...

I've not rooted it, so can't use the overclock / underclock app at the moment, however have seen it as a mate uses it on his G1.
I think I'm going to have to speak to T-Mobile again who refused to take it back. Clearly it isn't performing as it should!
The text was actually a reply to a forum post regarding this very subject!

class 6 sd will help with memory transfer between phone and the card itself. i.e. pictures should load up faster in ur albums.
as with all phone when first released...there are stilll bugs.iphone was recalled immediately when first released and the g1 had a security bug.

It's kind of crappy if it's a lottery as to whether you get a decent phone or a crap one!
Only widget is the clock and google search. Anything else on SenseUI is just shortcut icons.
