  • Great V-Log as usual and nice set up. You asked "Where the hell am I supposed to put it?" with regards to the K-sub... In that situation, I would place it length wise against the wall on the right side of your set-up. If you do that, your facade will look much better and you will receive extra output from the sub due to its coupling with the wall. Try it, I know you'll like it! Cheers mate!

  • Iv'e been less than impressed with the design & construction of any Iv'e seen coupled with ridiculous cost for what you get. For yours, the gap could be remedied with white foam pipe insulation tube to fill the gaps. The end hinges are to add extensions for larger setups but I agree they look bad. My design uses removable pin hinges and you add extensions to the middle so the outermost pieces have no hinges on them.

  • Mate, you're an inspiration.

  • i built one myself and i'm 16 lol, shall i upload a video and put a video response?

  • @DJDreamDiscos yes go for it

  • @DJDreamDiscos can u tie your shoes too big boy

  • John, tremendous video again! The Dragon Frontboards look very good. You definitely need to uplight/backlight them for the "Full Effect". Also, if you have a "sub" speaker, you should be able to place it behind the frontboards. Sub Frequencies are pretty hard to "block". You could even test pointing it at the wall behind you. The space between where the hinge is at /// defeats the purpose. You are trying to hide your cables. I would put a strip of White Duct Tape on it. Practice and enjoy.

  • Hey John why no up lights?

  • Hi John,

Just my opinion on the dragon board. Bloody ugly:)

Also like you said size for transport/hinges probably weight, gaps. The thing looks home made even though it's not. Why don't you just get a table skirt made up that covers everything. Or those pole connectors that you can get.

Anyway I have tuned into your channel and it has been interesting.

    Ian

  • What speakers are you using?

  • England calling here A1,liked the vid, just about to have delivered my 5 piece Dragon Board, noted your issues and like you mentioned when its dark the gap will cease to be such a problem however I see what you are saying.Ive gone for the Plexiglass option could you email me,I,ll try and message you I noticed you use an apple for your music same as me could do with bit of advice regrds Mark-MJC Entertainment

  • I agree with all your dislikes of the front board. Hopefully dragon will here us and make some changes to their design. Until then I will build my own.

  • I made one of these myself - posted on my youtube channel. Dead easy to make and cost around £50 sterling to build. (need info drop me a line). I have two front panels, one 4ft and one 6ft which i can change around depending on the size rig i use.

  • gday mate, just wanted to know how stable that facade is if someone was to come lean on it or pull on it from the front?

  • @kaney16 it would fall over if u put all ur body weight on it.

  • see u got new led moving head wash lights :)

  • Hey John good to see the gig logs back mate haven't seen ya on youtube for a bit. With that Dragon front board you could use a piano hinge which would remove that huge gap... if ya wanna.

  • Nice frontboard! You always find new cool things for your setup :) Like that in your video's Keep up the good work! Greetz Pieter, from the Netherlands.

  • Great to see you back making videos. What moving heads were you using?

  • @DJOmega80 hey mr omega, the moving heads u see here are simular to the flurry wash from blizzard, the 1 watt leds not 3. they are plenty bright enough for my kind of gigs

  • this isnt 'bad' but id rather an LED frontboard with an ad on it ore something like that or maybe just a logo to rep your business.

  • nice to see you back on here john.....!

  • perhaps piano hinges would look okay they r small and can run the full length of the frame work

  • Have you tried Traktor Scratch Pro 2?

  • Despite all the little things wrong with your dragon frontboard, it still looks sharp! I bet it'll look better at night and with your touch of lighting.

  • Im a mobile DJ, im an entrepreneur, i would totally make one by myself for myself get the spec perfect and just how i would want it.

  • Old facade looked better ! :)

but really its only things us DJ's notice. im sure none of the clients actually were bothered by the gap

  • the dragon front board doesn't look as good as your old one :/ id keep the other one and return that

  • Great Gig Log! Thanks!

P.S. I like the look of your old facade better :)

  • John, do you prefer your new facia to your old one - it was DJ Skirts wasn't it?

    Cheers, Paul, England

  • THINK I WILL MAKE 1 WAY TO EXPENSIVE GOOD GIG LOG

  • 4:04 "I supose you're conducting some kind of weather experiment?" Doc Brown, Back to the Future :D

  • This is probably the longest gig log you have given us in a long time!! Its nice to see you get a little more in depth :) The dragon frontboard ... I think they look sharp as a knife but cant believe they are sooo darn expensive! Steve Cie is making front boards and if i remember correctly South London Disco made a booth with PVC pipe and lycra :) Thanks again for another wonderful giglog!

  • The front boards look nice, but I stopped using mine just because of how much room they take up in my van. Plus the gap between panels always drove me crazy. Using something similar to a booth now that is snap together poles with a full cloth cover. Fold up into a single bag the size of two speaker stands, and no gaps between panels!

  • The dragon front board is looking good mate! Like the idea the they has fold into three bits

  • nice group of people!!!

  • Hey John,

Great job with the gig mate. I'm in the process of building a photobooth and noticed the dragonboard facade. I'll post a progress video of the project after I get some footage tomorrow.

So, how much was the facade after shipping? It looks pretty cool from a distance.

I don't think painting those sort of fixtures is a good idea though. They look like stainless steel/galvanised metal, which is a crap material to paint.

  • Is there a reason you've included a massive watermark for most of this video? :P

  • @nickwalnutIndustries I can't see a watermark anywhere

  • @Magicguy31 oh lol I had annotations turned on.

  • I guess they should have used smaller hinges, and maybe white hardware for the corners. Perhaps you could take each on off seperately to paint it, let it dry, reattach it, and then continue this with the other ones? How does it look with the led behind it?

  • @mainedj ill show u next gig l og

  • That fascade is really nice man, that is gonna look insanely good for your shows. I wish I had the room in the truck for something like that. Maybe next year. Anyway, nice rig as always!
