Has that Beatles type whimsy! Love this tune. It has a some retro sound too, that old dance hall thing! Reminds me of "You gave Me The Answer" from "Venus and mars".
Thanks for posting. Haven't listened to this gem for ages. He really should release a box set set with b-sides and other rarities that were never released on cd.
Wow! I never knew that Paul actually released this song. The only version I ever heard was in One Hand Clapping. It was right next to his "Suicide" segment, so I just assumed it shared the same fate.
Yeah George. You know Paul was so prolific that he said he would go out to dinner with friends ( when a Beatle) and he would get drunk. He would start singing songs no one had heard. He was making them up on the spot. The next day a friend would ask him to sing that song you did last night. He had already forgotten it. He was lucky to remember the songs on the Band On The Run demo that was stolen in Africa when they got attacked and mugged. Ed
@corg22 Great...this is Solo paul Mccartney...working class bloke...I'd like to credit linda, but she was from big money...no it was James paul in the family setting. I like to imagine he was a great Daddy for his lot. Hope he takes the time to be a Grandad now a days.....that's more important than any of our cheers
wish I could find this on a cd. When will he ever release all of his b-sides? Put "em all on one disc I say and call it "B-side to the Seaside". Can't find that rare one either.
Lovely Bouncy Tune :)

a tasty little track he probably tossed off in his sleep. Nobody can conjure up catchy melodies the way he can.

...Great upload, but isn't the pitch a bit too high? I remember this song to be a bit lower. :)

Contains all the elements of a classic McCartney-song.

"Ballroom Dancing" is great, but "I'll Give You A Ring" is certainly superior to "Dress Me Up Like A Robber" or "The Pound Is Sinking".

every song that a hear from paul mccartney is a brilliant gem

This song should have been on Tug Of War as it is a superior song to lightweights like "Ballroom Dancing" or "Dress me up as a robber".

It's a very nice song, recorded during the Tug Of War sessions. It somewhat reminds me of 'Let Em In'
stamlove0708 2 years ago
Well this song was written during Wings early 70's. You can see him performing it in 1974 on One Hand Clapping. Ed
BonelessSausage 2 years ago
Quite correct! Not only was this tune an outtake from the One Hand Clapping sessions, but Paul had done a demo in early 1974 ("The Piano Tape").
