  • I HAVE MET ROBERT RANDOLPH AROUND THREE MONTHS AGO, TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH I DONT LIKE HIS MUSIC AT ALL.BUT IT IS NOT ONLY HIS MUSIC I DONT LIKE, IT IS JUST THE FACT HE HAS A DOUBLE PERSONALITY REALLY SCARES ME.HE HIRED ME TO DO A JOB FOR HIM, I AM A SINGLE FATHER WHO TAKES CARE OF MY SON, ROBERT RANDOLPH NEVER PAID ME FOR THE JOB I DID IN HIS HOUSE, A NICE HOUSE IN WEST ORANGE NJ BUT ONLY HE COULD AFFORD IT. HE CAN AFFORD ANYTHING EXCEPT TAKING CARE O A POOR GUY LIKE ME. GOD BLESS YOU ROBERT.

  • @GRIECOMAXX was the caps lock really neccessary?

  • @GRIECOMAXX But only he could afford it? No one else huh? Love your details of what kind of job it was.

  • This is flat out awesome...I'm not sure how you can dislike this song or Robert & Co. music...universal in my view

  • (_)(_)===9

  • Funky ass tune!!!

  • _HEaR/ THE SCENE

    Local Music Announcement!...

Robert Randolph And The Family Band is playing @

THE THEATER OF LIVING ARTS in Philly on 10/7/2011.

  • Lotsa bullshit racism and ego stroking goin on below.. Music isn't white or black. All music has always existed and we as HUMANS are fortunate to tap into its infinite greatness..

  • Love these guys

  • correct me if im wrong but i believe it would make you a racist if you don't like this...

  • You know he's good because his hat flies off!

  • :40 WHAT?!

  • Dave Chapelle on bass, kicking ass as usual.

  • when did xzibit learn to play slide?

  • Just saw them playing warm up for Ben Harber in Italy. Didn't know them before but sure got to know them! What a band! Thanx for posting:-)

  • The world needed these cats !

  • I saw these guys open in 2004 for Clapton, holy smokes these guys are great!

  • 97

  • ja ja ja ja ja ja ja ja jinnengo chient!!

  • These guys just performed in our town's first annual music festival over Memorial Day Weekend. Fantastic! Just incredible musicians.

  • gotta love RR

  • The monster on that bass is Robert's brother. The drummer is a cousin, and the female singer is his sister. Hence, Family band lol

  • @jasura11 The bass player is actually his cousin, Danyel Morgan. And while his sister does play with them now, I don't think it is not her singing back up in this version of the song.

  • no white could ever have this groove! amazing!

  • @nateBum one of the stupidest comments ever in a whole ocean of stupid comments.

  • @lukatme2 it's fact i've never experienced something like that. jimi hendrix, chuck berry. they are masterminds. it might be a coincidence though, dont blame me.

  • @nateBum you see the guy in the back on piano? Thats John Ginty. He is white. Do you think RR would have him in the band if he couldnt groove? Ever hear of the funk brothers? Did ALL the music for every famous motown song you have ever heard. Half of them are white. Wake up and start listening to some music sir.

  • @lukatme2 Yes, Yes, yes, some white people have soul! let's not forget though that the best of them admit that what they are playing is Black music. I love Hall and Oats and Always tell people that before there was Justin Timberlake and Robin Thick there was Jon B! that said soul music is black inspired music and the honest whites will say so.

  • @REASONINFUSION No argument there. The original argument was over the statement "no white could groove like that." I say that is silly. No doubt about what you say. We all know it's black music, and thank god for it my friend. I was playing this cd in my car the other day. the guy riding with me heard the bassline for this and stated out loud, very happily, "thats a black man playing that bass!"

  • @lukatme2 I am not often in these forums since I am working on a book and can be found in forums addressing racism and right-wing conservative points. Even at that, in spite of some who may think me a "radical black", I daily tell other blacks to put down Steve Harvey and Pick up Time Wise. Music brings us together and that is a good thing. I would also like to say to my fellow blacks that many of the guitar intros we love of the spinners and stylistics were played by Daryl Hall. Good comment.

  • @nateBum in fact, do yourself a favor and watch this:John Ginty Band performs Savor, Baltimore MD

  • @lukatme2 i agree with you, sir. my first statement was a little absolute and provocative (but i guess, that's what you have to do to get at least a little attention) however, i figured out for myself that the groove is more common with black ppl. i dont wanna affirm any stereotypes here. its just my opinion. there are great white exceptions ofc. i just think that black ppl catch the flow better than whites.

  • @nateBum hey, we can agree these guys are SICK!

  • So explosive his hat blew off haha!

  • 22 people need more love.

  • WOW!!! Great band with some bad-ass sounds going on. They are all excellent musicians but.... who is that monster on bass?? What an anchor. He does not play in the pocket... he IS the pocket

  • @rocketaxe danyel morgan... he's incredible, but somehow his solo projects are awful. haha

  • @rocketaxe danyel morgan... he's incredible, but somehow his solo projects are awful. haha

  • @rocketaxe danyel morgan... he's incredible, but somehow his solo projects are awful. haha

  • these guys are awesome i have 3 albums of them excellent musicians

  • Comment removed

  • Hot. As. Hell.

  • damn, when he started welding his string i was already nodding my head like in monster jam...

  • 22 People need more love in their life.

  • @MrNattania Those who cannot "do", leaves comments

  • @j1001s27sw lol I fergot what I even posted!

  • this guy inspired me to learn lap steel

  • #97 greatest guitarist of all time

  • At Last!!! some taste of the good ol' R&B

  • so...travel

  • I always enjoy listening to / watching REAL musicians,(and these cat's

definitely qualify !) the one's who have their own talent and creativity to

come up with their own music ! That's some mean steel guitar !!

    Jam On...................... !!!!

  • What a musician! The steel guitar had some gnarly kick to it too

  • dude shreds

  • This is the tightest band I have ever heard in my entire life...no joke....

  • somebody put up his appearance on ACL up on here. It's really good check it out.

  • L.O.V.E.

  • Too sexy for his hat

  • We Love Robert and the Boys. F'n wicked tunes!

  • This man's playing is so good.

  • Robert Randolph is having a T-shirt design contest! They have more info on their website.

  • Sadly it seems to have always been this way, the crap floats to the top and just occasionally is a true artist recognised and promoted. I think that his style is just so awesome, I love this way of playing the steel guitar and the jazziness of the tune. I think to have an effect, just make sure you buy the artists material, that does more than anything to show your support for great talent like this.

  • I remember my jaw dropping when I seen this.We need more music like this;)Talk about a pick me up:)

  • bass player is a monster!

  • saw these guys at the new york state fair... for free last night. talented bunch eh

  • @funkluv jam band

  • @funkluvi guess you could call it jam/funk

  • @funkluv

    it would probably be jam/funk

  • @Wannaseeubleed13 Is it jam/funk?

  • such a groovin bassline!!

  • Inspiration touches the world in many different ways!

  • I am 55 years old and been to dozens of concerts over the years. RRFB put on a show each and every time they hit the stage. Seen him live 3 times and am going again to C-Bus on October 20th. Can't wait.

  • funky

  • So good that it is simply scary.

  • Super slappin' bass!!

  • This is feel good music. Nothing brings me out of a funk like Robert Randolph and the Fam.

  • Wow, they sound real good.

  • looks like dave chappele on the bass.

  • Very funky beautifully exciting soulful music! Excellent music Robert!! Joey Vaughan "World Blues Attack"

  • If you haven't heard Robert live, man you almost feel like you don't know what livin' is. The man brings it all to life and sort of makes you just want to get your ass moving and feel alive.

  • @y2shake : Right you are! I saw Robert for the first time at Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival in Dallas in 2004. They were a huge hit with the crowd. No words to describe the energy and love from Robert & Co. If you get the chance, seeing them live is a must!

  • This is definitely FUNK! I actually found this album at a Christian Book Store! Randolph is truly a gifted artist.

  • A...M..A...Z...I...N...G!

  • RR is THE MAN!!!!!

  • Great

  • If you people stop talkin about Lady Gaga in all youtube song vids I give you all a lollipop

  • @RJLpt anyone who mentions that name i wont say, is sucking on more than a lollipop

  • @russellrosario what name?

  • @RJLpt your name, now go back to sucking on something

  • @russellrosario dude, you need to lay off the crack...

  • @RJLpt hey thats real neat how you can suck a dick and type at the same time

  • even the oldmtnfart likes this one...

  • Damn, his playing looks so smooth

  • I have never heard a pedal steel guitar sound like this before! Awesome. 'Bout time we get some funk back (with real musicians) into the music!

  • The best guitarist to come out in the last 20 years doesn't play guitar, he plays a pedal steel! He's fuckin' bad ass! Kids talk about Buckethead, ha! Buckethead sucks ass. Robert Randolph is the man.

  • they performed in miami before the super bowl and when the drummer through his drum stick into the audience my brother actually caught it. after they sang the bare naked ladies played then this other band played but i cant remember the name. :)

  • smoking !!!

  • @danoinreno I've always loved this band! thanks for the send! x

  • @danoinreno YEP !

  • Reminds me a lot of Morris Day & The Time.

  • i love it!

  • Silky and Duzz.......in September!

  • Smokin'!!

  • so positive and uplifting L.O.V.E. love!

  • You gotta' get his Live at the Wetlands cd. The church that R.R. and I grew up in used the "steel guitar" as it's lead instrument (over the B-3). Henry Nelson & Chuck Campbell were just a coupla' of his influences. I'm proud of Robert and what he's accomplished.

  • smokin'! wow - why have i never heard of this cat before? what a player!

  • Yall are just listening to the wrong radio stations:). If you live anywhere near Milwaukee, tune in to 88.9, radio milwaukee. Or visit their website - you can listen to the live streaming of what they are playing. That's where I first heard this song... they play everything from Tribe Called Quest to Robert Randolph to Phish to Jimi Hendrix to the White Stripes, plus local bands. You won't hear any gaga, scouts honor:).

  • Man, this is wicked!!!!! I only just found these dudes too.

If you don't like commercial radio, don't listen to it. I stopped listening to commercial radio a while ago, cause it doesn't play stuff like this. I still listen to the few community or independent radio stations I can find though.

    More importantly....

If you like Robert Randolph, support their cause by either buying their album or advertising their music to other people that you think will enjoy it.

  • funky bassline!!

  • Dave Chapelle on bass....

  • The close-ups of his hands are unfair. He makes it look so easy!!!

  • mrstumpwaterjack. i totally agree with you. this whole world is going to hell.

  • That bass player is FONKAY!!!!

  • That shit is filthy. RR is the heat. Period.

  • Talent!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I just read about him on RS

    this is awesome!!!

  • same in the u.k, whats going on!!!

  • perfect :)

  • Yes thats a 6 string Bass, and the rest of the band falls right into it. Like a perfect marriage. Since seeing this performance live on David Letterman, hook, line, and sinker. I've been totally blown away ever since. The band plays tight live, like in the studio. Can't be touched. AMAZING!

  • SOOOGOOOOO SEELLLEEEEEEEE

  • my sister saw them in aspen and was invited to smoke blunts with the band afterword

  • we went to the super bowl in miami and they played there and when the drummer threw his drum stick to the audience my brother caught it

  • Nice. I saw him one time front row right in the center and was able to get one of the finger picks and a slide that robert used during the show

  • oh yea i beet you all. i got to stay at his mansion and jam with them and smoke the big fatty's.

  • Lovin It!

  • awesome bass riff

  • more people listen to lady gaga than they do robert randolph... i don't understand this country anymore... usa's music choices are total crap

  • dude i totally agree

  • @MrStumpwaterJack rofl, too true.

  • @MrStumpwaterJack Totally agree, 110%

Robert Randolph should be a household name by now. That he's not is a cryin' shame!

Thanks for posting this... this is fantastic!!!

  • @screwyootube1 Saw them for the first time opening for Eric Clapton. Blew me out of my seat! What a great concert!!!

  • @1969Sweetpea1 Me too - in Cph. It was sick:) and when he came out to jam in the end with Clapton they tore the place apart.

  • @1969Sweetpea1 I remember that one! I couldn't go at the time, but it was killing me!!! They were playing at the Staples Center in L.A., if I remember correctly. I hope I get another chance soon!

  • I've never listed to Lady Gaga but it occurs to me what does it matter to you what other people, most of whom you never have nor ever will meet, listen to? How does it impact you so much that you feel the need to comment on "those people" over here on some other artist's youtube clip? Just curious

  • @phuckface22 well i'm a musician as well and I just feel that its amazing that I don't hear this on the radio... yet lady gaga is on the radio all day long... its really just a matter of principle... they have more talent in one song than an entire album of lady gaga's... so I simply commented stating that I wished more people listened to this... and really quite frankly you're just an internet flamer trying to stir up trouble I'm not sure why i'm even answering you or acknowledging you!

  • @MrStumpwaterJack Agreed sir! This is a display of talent and love for music,180 degrees opposite of the tripe heard on the radio . I'm a musician also, and despair over what passes for "talent" nowadays.

  • @MrStumpwaterJack 100% agreed man

  • @MrStumpwaterJack It's the same in the rest of the world, and atleast you guys have a long history of great music :p

  • @MrStumpwaterJack i dont either, but i guess we never will

  • @MrStumpwater Jack Lenesha (vocals) in the Family Band has also been singing with Gaga. It's all good.

  • @MrStumpwaterJack cause 'the man' tells people to listen to Lady Gaga! Down the man!!!

  • @MrStumpwaterJack: what people choose is up to them, and popular music is only popular in sales. for every person that listens to lady gaga there's 100 others who don't like her, so what does it matter? and as far as "USA's music choices", again, it's all up to the person who listens to it, so there's again no point in making an idiot statement about the entire country about it.
