  • this is a fake interview

  • this young man is brave and a hero.

  • note to self - dont take german class

  • he needs to get a medal of honor or something like that

  • i was in 7th grade when this happened. my teachers friend actually lost her life in the shooting and i remember her freaking out not being able to contact her.

  • katie couric, what a joke.

  • this brave fucker should join the military.

  • @afrofin1 Yeah he should go and kill other people, because obviously he enjoys violence. Are you fucking serious?

  • @afrofin1 huh? Cho would make a better soldier than this guy....Your logic is flawed.

  • strong motherfucker. I would be trippin' at that point.

  • o.o his mom doesnt give a rip

  • 20 ft window. instead of jumping out, hang on the window with ur hands before you jump, you will decrease 6ft of height. so now its only 14ft, which is easy

  • id kill his motherfucking family for all the shit he did!

  • @RedYellowPurple His family members took such a long time to take all this in, his older sister who graduated from Princeton University does not take him as a brother anymore, she claims that she does not know him anymroe, which is sad.... I dont know why you put his family to blame.

  • As Cho Seung-Hu obviously knows all the debauchees, charlatans and snobs are busy learning German first thing in the morning. He was seriously wacked.

  • puffy, thats how people lived. in such a random event like that you cant react in time to charge at him

  • Considering most of the students had been shot. I doubt any of them were ready to go and attack a man with a loaded gun. Even the other 2-3 who hadent been shot were helping others stay alive.

  • Interesting 6ft tall and cho is reported to be 5 ft 8 inches ? Question was cho set up.

  • @TauBroadside if cho was a setup, why did he kill himself. and when your in a situation like that why the fuck would you try and estimate how tall the man with the loaded GUN was?

  • man that shit was scary when i heard about it . man you one brave kid from barrackeding the doors and risking your life again

  • 6 feet tall? bullshit, he was asian

  • get off his back asshole, he almost died

  • he should have,

  • LMAO!

  • This isn't about the War. This is about a kid who endured something that NONE of you could go through without messing yourself. Have your stupid (pointless) conversation somewhere else

  • It was very sad indeed. I find it interesting that there was so much shock people sort of froze up in some cases, weren't even making a sound, just dazed.

You don't go to class thinking you will be in a war zone.

  • Can someone explain why his mother is on a business trip?

  • So Sad and awful ! This kind of situation will be impossible if this foolish right to support legal gun possesion don't exist ! America wake up and change your gun laws !

  • ***Message to Derek O'Dell***...please get some more help to talk about this my freind ill pray for you and the lost ones. god bless you!

  • thats crazy and he's so brave even though he look so shacken up...rest in peace to everyone who died that terrible day...

  • MAD WORLD

  • Rest in peace to the ones who passed.

  • ...the gunman shoot and RELOAD while people are watching.

    god bless america

  • Amazing how well he handled himself during that interview....very sad situation.

  • Poor guy. I know it's worse for the fatal victims and their families. Did you start trembling when you heard him describe all those horrific moments? I did. I just feel dismay.

  • sigh~speechless...God bless all of you...

  • dammn this is gona be a movie!!!

  • God. Oh my God. Help them and help us. Amen.

  • Where was God? So now you decide to ask. After saying, "God, get out of our schools. God, get out of our laws. God, get out of our government." Well, maybe God answered your precious desires for a few hours last Monday. You hadn't wanted Him before people died, now you blaim Him for not being there?

  • Where is God?

  • incidents like this make me wonder how America can be called the home of the free....however, after listening to derek o'dell i understand the land of the brave.

i wish nothing but consolation and support on all of the victims families, friends, classmates, and anyone effected my this horrific event.

    rest in peace.

  • Katie "What did you hear?"

    Dude "Are you RETARDED?"

  • koreans need to die too!!!

  • Katie Couric aside, this was an awesome interview. How do you wrap your brain around being one of three survivors? I can't imagine all the ways thier lives are changed. It's just sad. God bless them and keep them...and give them peace.

  • very sad. if it were me (of course you never know until you are in that situation)i would have charged him when he was reloading.. leading the way with a desk to bash him or SOMETHING. I just cant believe NOBODY tried to stop this guy. Now over 30 people are dead.

  • i heard in another interview he reloaded very quickly, and realistically if you are in a calm state of mind in a college classroom and someone busts in and kills like 12 of your classmates I don't imagine many people would think clearly or quickly enough to charge the shooter. Sad stuff but the world keeps turning.

  • Ohh my god, all I can say is rest in peace! <3 I will pray for you

  • He's so brave, and this tradegy is so, so sad.

  • crazy?! why can the American kill innocent Iraqi people without any mercy? you brought up this stupid killer yourselvies!

  • This eyewitness describes the killer as 6ft tall wearing a black leather jacket and maroon BB Hat pulling clips from his pockets.

Erin Sheehan described the killer as wearing a short sleeved boyscout-like shirt with a black ammo vest over it complete with clips. Both killers were only holding one Gun! I believe this is a government black-op, the first shooting 20 minutes away was a distraction from the shooting that would take place across campus.

  • WHATS THE POINT??? why dont u TV MEDIA leave this people alone! Try talking about what the society can do so that this doesnt happen again! No one talks bout that, eveyrone just cries and try to make of this a soap opera or a drama oscar winning movie. Thumbs down to american TV Media.

  • yeah. gunz ar great, yeah?

  • Where I live, no one wants to talk about this. It's like if they just pretend it didn't happen, it'll go away. That is, until something like this happens to them. I live in a VERY pro-gun area of the deep south and people here are more worried that the liberals are going to try to take away their guns. I don't think that's the answer but, it appalls me that that is the first thought/worry for some people.

  • Sad and tragic... but I am just curious how he remembers all this with such detail while he is hiding under the desk? I mean... yeah you can kind of identify race and recognize the outfit and everything, but how about the weapon? 9mm hand gun? hmm I dont know...

Anyways, hope everything goes well and god bless

  • Whats wrong with people , out of what sorrow or insecurity are they doing these things, and I heard this Asian guy was from South Korea, learning English in VT. Why would they let such unstable students from another country enter US, they should have done some psychological examination ...so sad

  • wasting all that money and lives on that bullshit war!!! and can't even protect our own children!!!

  • It has nothing to do with gun laws,he wanted to make them feel his pain.He could have just as easily used a suicide bomb attack.

  • This is just devastating. My prayers are with Derek and his colleagues.

  • you do know that this sort of thing is a daily occurance in iraq, thanks to america.

160 dead in bagdad alone today. You have a lot of praying to do!

  • So sad.. what a cruel world we live in. I can't help but ask myself where "God" was the whole time these bright lifes were being ended. Trying to put myself in the positions of the students being shot brings me to tears. Now i try to put myself in the mind of the young Iraqi insurgent who is extremely uneducated and ready to die for the only causes that are right and true to himself. Stop the war, instead make peace and attempt to educate...

  • Read Voltaire's novel "Candide". It will answer your question.

  • after creating the world, he just sorted of chilled

  • I was with you until the last line. You can try to put yourself in the mind of Iraqi insurgents whose "God" teaches them to kill the infadels. I can't look at his cause and say, yes, we can educate these people into a peaceful disposition. Not in the short run, anyway. Yes, I want a peaceful world, but let's be realistic.

  • alright, Iraqi's aren't taught by their religion to kill. Islam does not teach killing, Islam as a religion is very similar to Christianity, and when you say God in parentheses, you're talking about the same God that you worship.

  • @LZep1991

American's are so fucking retarded, they think muslims are terrorist with no proof behind it :))

  • To keepnitreal2day..when u invaded iraq u were obviously trying to educate them into peaceful dispostion..werent ya..and where are the WMD that u went there to seek..according to UN 600000 iraqis have died since ur peaceful invasion..same goes for the 410 children killed by isreal when ur govt suplied them with missiles that they fired in GAZA..peaceful disposition my fuckin ass..u invade there country and talk about peaceful disposition..No GOD teaches to kill..its people like u who do

  • What about the 30,000 per month who were being killed by Sudam Hussein? The children who were murdered because they didn't agree with him? Where are the WMDs you ask? I would say neighboring countries such as Syria. Look if you are a bad guy and the wonderful UN tells you "hey in 3 months we are coming to look for weapons" do you think you would keep those weapons inside your borders? UMMM no. As for Israel they tried the peaceful route & all it got them was daily bombings by their neighbors.

  • i never said saddam was a bloody angel..he was fuckin deamon of the worst kind..the guy was a retard..but my point is america is no angel either...they did not go to iraq 2 liberate iraqis, they went there for oil, lying to the world about WMDs which the UN inspectors had said ther wer non before leaving iraq..US went to iraq cos isreal wanted, not because iraq was gonna attack isreal but just cos the jewish lobby in america felt that any muslim country that is not harming isreal is its threat.

  • Why do people keep pulling the oil card? If that were true (and it's not) 1 - where is the oil? 2. Why is there such a push to drill in the U.S. if we have all this oil? As for the WMDs it is what it is. You have Iraqi's who said they were there and again 3 month notice before UN went to take a look. As for the war I would have preferred special ops myself. In my opinion it was a message to everyone else out there to back up or get kicked in the teeth.

  • As i c it and u would c it too if u look thru the eyes of an outsider and not an american is that the iraq war has cost america a lot, financially and militarily..its clear cut business, u spend some, and u expect to get some out of it..unless ur so naive, which am sure ur not, this is how every thing works..now u tell me that america went ther to free iraqis from the tyrrany of saddam and nothin else, a aint buying that..why shud any country, let alone US do that..

  • To continue from the first message. Like I said I don't believe in unnecessary violence, however, I do have an issue when people are held down by one individual (Sadam Hussein). Believe it or not there are compassionate people in this country. I feel for the Iraquis b/c as an African American male I studied the history of how my people were persecuted and held back during the 60s and 70s and it was actually the U.K. who led the push to end slavery in this country.

  • Secondly iraq was no threat to america..it was a financial disaster under the saddam regime and the burden of UN sanctions..now u give me one good reason for US to attack iraq that was worth more then the lives of 600000 iraqis..and pls for heavens sake dont bull shit me and urself with that WMD crap..it was a good excuse for a guy like ur beloved president Mr Bush and his IQ level..from u sir, i would expect a better excuse..

  • Outsider wow here is the deal we agree on some points. The war was basically to finish unfinished business from the first Gulf War. The U.S. listened the sorry excuse aka the UN when it should have finished the deal. The attack was meant to send a message to those who did not want to live in peace. Taking down what was considered the strongest mlitiary in the middle east in matter of days was a warning to those who would attack the U.S. Do I condone violence NO not at all.

  • There seems to be no way in the world I can convince u of what am saying..and i know there is no way in the world that u can convince me of what ur saying ..and secondly am a student so i dont have time to continue this very interesting conversation for now..we shall talk later..BTW it was good to talk to someone who was decent enuf not to start every sentence with a swear word..to be continued whenever

  • Very good. I wish you the best with your studies and future endeavors. I too enjoy having a good conversation about such issues. I don't think it's a matter of convincing others, but more in the line of providing a view point which gives food for thought and you have done so in this case. Again, good luck with your studies.

  • LoL I love all the conspiracy theories you got. None of that could ever be proven, mostly because it's false and because it's a retarded theory. Oil has proven to have had no involvement in the war and I'd dare you to actually prove me wrong without saying another dumb theory. The U.S. has plenty of Jews but the war had NOTHING to do with them. Prove that wrong without saying something else completely theoretical from a purely biased opinion. There would be no Iraq now if it were for the oil...

  • I love the fact once someone says conspiracy peoples brains shutdown making it easy for real conspiracys to be kept as a myth to people.

  • i hope people will not do anything crazy to the koreans who lve in US just because that the gunman happens to be a korean ...

  • I just saw a video where people were blaming Koreans and Orientals in general. This only makes for a greater tragedy.

  • Nothing large-scale. But I can already imagine people who act impulsively might immediately blame Koreans around them as convenient scapegoats. Think about narrow-minded kids and how they might react. Just look at all the hostility here in YouTube comments, not to mention in forums all over the Web. I sincerely hope we can all think straight and clearly before acting.

  • It makes no sense to me why some people would look to do that, but I know it happens. Korean? He wasn't Korean... the guy grew up in America since he was 8. About as far away from being Korean as you can be- in my book and what should be eveyones view, he's simply a twisted, sick American kid. People need to get off that whole "Korean" nonsense.

  • This guy looks like he just got gang-raped...aka. *TERRIFIED*

    Rest In Peace..

This type of thing makes me super depressed...it sucks

  • me too man i feel sooo weird inside and sad and i dont even live in usa :(

  • This is so tragic...

  • wow ...

  • I see

  • this is so sad. taking innocent bystanders lives like that.and getting away with it by taking his own life and not facing the cosequences. but there is a higher power that he is facing as i type.

  • The sad thing is that we all know that this will happen again.

  • brave guy

  • Thanks for the post.

  • god bless that kid.

  • Why is it that in America it is so important to keep this stupid right to bear arms it only causes harm not protection!

  • Guns don't kill people. People kill people.

  • omg how sad om

  • God Bless the Hokies!

  • god bless

  • strong fella. its one thing to experience violence on a battle field, but to feel it in a so-called safe environment is truly traumatic.

  • perhaps its time to change your stupid gun laws, so that this MIGHT not happen once again

  • Does G.W.Bush still support legal gun possesion?
