  • Make me sad how all these guys on here are calling string a dumbass, like you've never had your bumps. String came from the fucking projects, and he was trying to better himself, he would have learned from this, you learn from your mistakes. String was just overly ambitious, shhit clay even stole from carcetti.

  • The biggest downfall of Stringer in this situation is that he believed that the street shit he learned to get things done worked all over the world. (Bribing, Intimidation ect) He got a quick reality check realizing that isnt how it works in the corporate world, even clay at 3:15 tells him that hes gonna steal his money, but string is so prideful and impatient to see it.

  • If only Stringer is his own boss instead of answering to Avon, he would have his name in the fortune 500. Getting hustled by Clay Davis is part of the learning curve, and realistically half a million doesn't even put a dent in his drug money even though it is still quite a bit. You can bet he won't make that same mistake again, and next time he will get it right and make his fortune. That is, if he survives long enough........

  • @holdemehha Stringer was never meant for the fortune 500, & Avon knew this. That's the difference between wisdom & intelligence: Avon was wise enough to know his place; Stringer was intelligent, but full of foolish ambition that ultimately led to his demise. Notice Stringer died in his property?..That's symbolic of being destroyed by one's own ambition. Stringer's the person who actually thinks they can have the American Dream; Avon's the person wise enough to know that dream is bullshit.

  • @mvembathegriot How did Stringer's ambition lead to his demise? He got shot by Omar and Mouzone, so seems to me it's the old gangster wild bullshit that caught up to him. If you want to take it further, the reason Avon gave up Stringer is because of D'Angelo, not because of the money Stringer lost to Clay Davis. Stringer had the intelligence, and wisdom comes with time and experience. Stringer had the tools to succeed, and the wisdom he gathers along the way will let him get ther

  • @holdemehha Stringer's ambition led to his decision to try & kill Omar via Mouzone & kill D'Angelo. These actions led to Avon's decision to turn him to Omar/Mouzone. Avon had a code; Stringer & his ambition did not. Pay close attention to 0:55 - 1:55 Stringer's ambition actually makes him think he could "get out" go legit; Avon was wise & knew his place. Again, Stringer died in his building...symbolic of his ambition ultimately destroying him. See the Levy "rain made" scene...

  • @mvembathegriot I agree that the whole bullshit with Omar, Mouzone and D'Angelo is what got Stringer killed, but that's got nothing to do with Stringer's ambition to become a legitimate businessman. That's really neither here nor there in relation to this clip. Anyways, Stringer may be out of his depth now, but he won't be for long. He has enough capitals, intelligence, and will to learn, a rare combination in a person that would have allowed him to succeed.

  • @holdemehha You right.

  • @union410 lol Thank you

  • @mvembathegriot What exactly makes you think Avon is such a wise person? Just because he is not interested in going legit doesn't mean he actually understood that part of the game. All he knows is shoot them up, and standing on corners. That type of life is gonna last no more than a few years, and always end in death or jail. At least Stringer is trying to get away from that, so that they can live long enough to enjoy all the cash they made.

  • @holdemehha Also refer to the scene where Stringer demands Slim Charles to hit Clay Davis & Avon intercedes. Avon & his wisomd saw all this coming. Stringer was way out of his league, but his ambition clouded his vision.

  • "I know BNB like I know a thousand other outfits" - ooooh

  • The only thing Clay Davis regrets is that Stringer caught on as quick as he did.

  • Avon sniffed that scam out.

  • Chunky Coats.

  • "In my word, do you have any idea what I had to do to get where I am today? And when I say I'm ready, you'd best believe it""

Damn, that's a badass line. It's too bad that the guy saying it is being punked like a bitch.

  • LOL "the faucet"

  • Stringer was new to this end of the game, he had to take his lumps. This was Clay's racket. Thats like Clay going down to the streets and trying to slang, he would have taken his lumps too. Or a bullet lol.

  • this shit is all the bullshit I had to do at my old architecture job, permits and such, what a fucking pain in the ass

  • @shatterjack me too..damn D.O.B

  • would have probally been better off going thru his lawyer than davis, lessor of two evils and if something goes wrong let lawyers do what they do best sue, dealing with clay is a whole other ball game.

  • to me the government game an the street game are one in the same aint shit change snake's will be snake's an rat's will be rat's

  • wrong the crime of the corporate world is hardly nothin without the street game an drug's that is where most there money come's from the street's

  • The street game has nothing on the corruption and underhandedness of politics. Drugs are small change compared to the crime and filth of the corporate world, only they drop millions of bodies, slowly over decades.

  • @mrmootheirrev hell yeah, then after those corners and neighborhoods are almost destroyed swoop in buy up everything cheap and make a profit.

  • @mrmootheirrev yeah thats why any rising political candidate needs an old 65-85 year old guy whose seen it all... assassinations, corruption, scape goats, infighting, backstabbing, bribing and knows secrets on everyone.

  • @mrmootheirrev Point is, the world is corrupt

  • The political game, government game, or corporate game is light years above the street game....

  • Comment removed

  • Stringer's swearing at the state senetor and he honestly thinks Davis is going to help him. Bringing that street corner mentality into a federal office.

  • Davis straight "fist fucked" Stringer Bell... The best part is when Bell tried to have him assassinated and Avon shut that shit down. Brilliant stuff...

  • @00ghostcobra quick as hell to

  • This really goes to show the difference between criminal business and legitimate business. When criminals fuck up, somebody gets shot. When businessmen fuck up, somebody gets promoted.

  • I love this; the downfall of stringer bell was down to him attempting to get legit, to back out of the game, except once he's in that far, its pretty much impossible to get out. He's dealing with people who play the game on another level, have the experience of dealing with uppity white guys.

Its a damn shame, and i have no doubt that this is exactly what goes on. The death of the american dream indeed.

  • @mustrapefoley Perhaps. It feels that the writers think Stringer's downfall was that he was caught between the two worlds. Whereas Barksdale would have either not got involved or pulled out the minute people started asking for more money, and someone like Levy would have been able to follow what was going on, Stringer imposed his old mindset onto a foreign situation, trusting people wouldn't rip him off for fear of him as would be the case on the street or else he'd spot the con. 'Away games'

  • I love how Avon sees str8 thru the BS out the gate...his posture and refusal to listen to their BS

  • @sliccmoufschalaa Yup. He was street smart.

  • too bad stringers business school didnt teach him about crooked mother fuckers like clay davis

  • "I know B&B like I know a thousand other outfits."

  • the wire showed thr true game. American politicians and bussiness men are the worst kinds criminals in the world

  • no matter how many times you get burnt, you keep doin the same- Bodie

  • @01:03 barksdale saw through there shit whilst all stringer could see was dollar signs.

  • funny how when they tried this crap on Marlo he just bounced

  • First of all I dont know why the hell Stringer go to Clay Davis ass hell if he was smart enough he could of had Brother Mouzone set up his business shit just like Clay Davis Fuck him he should of had Brother Mouzone kill Clay Davis shit I bet Chris and Snoop would of killed Clay Davis... I sure dont like that white lawyer

  • @mrballa23 So after trying to get brother Mouzone killed, he call him for work...?

You still don't get it do you? It ain't about the money bro

  • Stringer really was a man without a country, like Avon said "not tough enough for this right here, and not smart enough for them out there".

  • This is Clay going for the long con. This is a very accurate portrayal of most liberal black Democratic Senator/Congressmen. Charlie Rangle must have written this script

  • @WiseGuy5674 Clay Davis reminds me more of the people at ENRON and white CEO's

  • kind of makes you feel bad for Belle, he wanted to be a real business man and get out of the drug game but couldnt do it, everyone in a suit was taking advantage of him and knew he was from the streets with no clue how things worked

  • I dont know whats more illegal, Idris Elba in suits or the thoughts of him I have outside those suits.

    MMM MMM MMM.

  • One thing I must say is that who in the fuck did Stringer think he was talking to? You don't talk to a man like Clay Davis like he was his equal let alone like you're superior to him! But Stringer thought he could do all that and more.... Man, maybe he was stupid as some of you say.

  • @boxingin I dont think that he was stupid he was just green and inexperienced. As Avon said this man was at an away game with no bench and the other team had home field advantage. He should have learned the other rule of business - to cut his losses and walk. Rebuild, learn and come back to fight another day . It was still a good learning experience. If he was a legit business man he could have been a success later off of it.

  • @maven21 Stringer was drug dealer...that's it. He wasn't meant to move into legit business. Like they say; you can't turn a ho into a housewife, & you can't turn a common drug thug into a astute businessman. When Stringer realized he got played, what did he do?...revert back to his thug ways order a hit on Clay Davis, a move that Avon knew was foolish. Stringer was way in over his head...and EVERYBODY knew this...except Stringer...

  • i hate niggas like clay davis

  • @thagingerbreadman I feel you. The bad thing is that there are plenty Clay Davis' out there my man...For real!

  • I bet Stinger was like SHEEEEEEEEEEIT!

  • The game never stops.

  • i cant believe stringer fell for this, i mean when levy told him.than it made sends, but than i was to late for stringer

  • Just wondering, how much money was Avon making (at his prime)? About $12million per year was it?

  • @JoeTheMaestro I think more

  • @JoeTheMaestro i believe in one episdoe they explained based on the amount of money they were tracting out of one location of avons drug area, they figured he was making total probably around $45,000,000 a year, but that was total, that amount incudes what he would have to pay back out to pay his employees and pay for the shipments he was bringing back into baltimore, plus lawyers fees and what not, so yea probably between 15-20 some odd million a year

  • im gonna bring you along string...but lol clay davis

  • "hmm-mm. 20, gets you the permits--5 is for me for bribing these downtown motherfuckers"

jesus, can't believe stringer ate that horseshit even though it was clear he had doubts. how can you honestly believe clay davis is gonna risk his career for $5k

  • fuck clay davis lmao

  • nobody stays that calm and keeps making things seam like there ok unless he is taking you for a ride

  • "The man with the hand on the facuet". what a bunch of bullshit.

  • @lildwayne21

    "what goose?"

"the one that lays the golden eggs"

  • brother mouzone would have been a perfect person to take out clay davis

  • Comment removed

  • He wasnt bored. He knew it smelled fishy

  • @IronTim33

nope. he knew what time it was. he refers to it in that scene, where stringer tells him he had D'angelo done.

  • shittttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt....its clay davis

  • Shit,.the guy who plays Stringer is from the UK,..a Londoner, great actor

  • Clay Davis : ".....the MONNNEYYY FAUCET"

busted out laughing at that part. Pure comedy.

  • Avon was a cool azz bro.

  • And who said you cant hustle a hustler....big up Avon though, bona fide hustler right there!

  • LOL, Stringer couldn't have been that stupid. When Avon was at the zone site he knew they were trying to get more money out of Stringer. And why wouldn't you use you lawyer anyway. Levy laugh at his ass and Avon didn't give a fuck because they knew Stringer was dumb.

  • "I'm telling ya String, the people who are running the city these days, they make the last bunch look sanctified. I mean, this is some shameful shit"- Clay Davis.

    Look who's talking.

  • Stringer was playing those away games like Avon said

  • Stringer got punked. Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeit!

  • @Thomistica

If Stringer was smart he would of open up a business outside of B-more not where you known for selling drugs at somewhere lowkey where no one knows you

  • @Thomistica he tried to go legit befor cleaning his name ,dumb move homie i would have do it with a front man still!

  • Clay Davis is an asshole

  • I would have been interesting to see how it would have turned out with an additional season of Senator Davis.

  • hE KEEPS DOING THE SAME SHIT, IDIOT

  • Stringer couldn't kill him, Avon even told him to let it go because killing a Senator is notte same as killing a guy on the street. FBI will be all over them and things will be really bad for the Barksdales.

  • sheeeeeeeeeeeeettttttttttttttttttttttttttt

  • clay davis should been dealt with

  • I got places to be! Avon & String', same dudes!

  • String should've started off small and worked his way up. Buy property and flip for a while learn the ins and outs of Real Estate. He tring to build some shit and that's moving to fast. Cop some buildings and acquire tenants, run it for awhile, sell the building. Buy some houses, acquire tenants, run it for while, sell the houses. Cop some apartment complexes and fix them up, and sell them. I never took a business class but damn common sense can take you far.

  • Yeah. ...Clay was a lucky mutha fucka. He did not know what a crazed mutha fucka he was messin with. Luckily, Avon got word of Stringer having had D'Angelo killed and had Omar and Brother Mozoune whack him; before Stringer surmised a "smart" plan to have Davis killed.

  • Avon had Stringer killed because Brother Mozoune was gonna cut his New York drug trade ties, it had nothing to do with D'Angelo getting killed, he KNEW why Stringer had to do that.

  • lol you are all off

    avon didn't have stringer killed.

brother killed stringer as payback for trying to double cross him

  • and how did brother and omar know where to find stringer that day??.......AVON! Stringer tells him where he's gonna be the last night they are together, go back and watch the scene.

  • Also in the double cross was Omar. Stringer told Omar it was Mozoune who hit his lover Brandon I believe. Brother and Omar came to Avon and Avon gave up where his location would be on the day of Stringers death ;/ Saddest day of the Wire....

  • Clay Davis is funny !

  • dis fuckin clown Davis.....he need to be on his knees thinkin god EVERY night...that string aint kill em of have em killled. Seriously

  • String couldnt have him killed stringer wasnt important enough.

  • wrong.......dont matta how important....or UN-important somebody is, they can still Kill some1..or Have them killed.

Just like how Omar, the biggest killer on da show....gets killed by a lil kid.

  • But he was also real smart and if he did kill him he would be fucked. So he was a smart man. thats where kenard fucked up.

  • He gave his money to this clown for what? The man dying to find a way out. The writers are deep on this show, they go in.

  • Trust no one is the lesson. Never leave yourself vulnerable. Stringer went against what he learned in the street and left himself vulnerable.

  • Clay is smooth as hell...

  • Stringer should have left that ghetto mentality in the hood when he was doing business with these boys. You can't afford to let that hood mentality interfere with doing business

  • The character that Stringer was based on actually finished his project and moved to Florida

  • Yep

  • Now Avon could smell "gettin took" quickly...heehee...String was going to school. Avon was on the street, but Avon know more than STringer.

  • nah avon was dumb, avon made so many mistakes that stringer had to correct

stringer was just frustrated because avon kept blocking their previous chances to go legit

  • I read all these comments about string got played. String is a dumbass. I dont understand why.. String is a drug dealer who went to a currupt state senator who everyone knows takes bribes for getting shit done..Clay Davis could have easily done what he got paid to do..but istead decided to steal his money.. Clay Davis is lucky if it wasnt for Avon he coulda got..got for doing that shit.

  • Reignunlimited I was really hoping Omar would have shot fatso at least in the knee. He just went on ahead and "aced" Stringer Ball with Brother Mouzone and let that white guy get past.

  • UTuberSandwich: Remember Omar is a man with a code, never puts his shotgun on no civilian.. Omar and Mouzone went there for business.. Stringer

  • shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit he's an asshole

  • They played Stringer like ping-pong.

  • That took balls to hustle a drug kingpin.

  • no it didn't. Clay davis is a damn senator that shit was like ping-pong to him.

  • "ya big sassy bitch"

    lol

  • Clay Davis is lucky Brother Mouzone and Omar took Stringer out, Stringer was ready to put a hit out on him

  • Stringer is a dumbass. He got fucked without lube by Clay Davis. He looks like a retard in that red hat.
