This was a great theme, I loved using Laguna's special move "Desperado" right at 0:55 to 1:25. I used to use Laguna, Kiros and Ward to fight Diablos. That was the ultimate fight early in the game, killer fighting music....best battle to use the characters for.

On the Ragnarok, if you go up to visit where the trio are standing around, Kiros and Ward say of squall. "Just like his father, but he's got his mother's eyes". Laguna also has the squall card, and it's also kind of a central theme to the plot.
