Thanks for comment. Sorry taken a while to reply but been back in Kalahari. Soil calibration for the PR2 & Theta probe is indirect. We have applied known volumes to
the soils and moisture readings we obtain are consistent with soil porosity which we determined exactly by
gravimetric methods. We have not determined the linearity of this relationship in the field. Inserting the PR2 in dry Kalahari sand soils is problematic. In damp conditions the undersized plain auger works well.

Interesting. The information you're giving has gone through the calibration data process?
How are you calibrating your PR2 and Theta probe in that dry soils?
