It sounds odd but Jackie Chan has always reminded me of Buster Keaton; both willing to risk their lives for a stunt, both great athletes, and both knowing how to interact with objects and people to humourous and thrilling effect. Also, both at the mercy, in childhood, of rather sadistic authority figures--Jackie trained in a Chinese Opera Company where the master beat him every day and Buster trained from the age of 3 by his father who used to beat him and throw him around the stage..
