I like the song in this key and the chords you're playing..I use a lot of those chords with open strings in my playing as well, I find them smoother than the standard ones.
@DrHogfan thanks for watching and taking the time to comment ... this progression is a lovely one ... wouldn't surprise me to know it is in many songs
@MrClose2u call it an "alternate version of like a rolling stone" or something like that then. bob dylan didn't write it in this key. it sounds like easy listening music in the key of e major, btw.
@nankerphelge718 .... look underneath the video pane ... where there is space to write more info ... do you see the very first sentence? It says .... "Like A Rolling Stone - my arrangement in E major with alternative chord voicings."
@acidbarrett1 What do you mean the chord positions are wrong?? Personally I think the alternative versions are terrific. Of course if you can't do Barre chords or can only play in 1st position you'll have problems.
@jaqua524 thanks for watching and commenting, I'm glad you like it ... Get Off Of My Cloud is a basic I, IV, V (E, A & B) rock n roll/blues progression with the addition of an Ab minor in the chorus ... not really the same
@MrClose2u yeha..i worded it wrong...i just meant to say it sounded like it lol..this is a fantastic song...bob dylan is actually playing at my college next month..i gota buy a ticket soon lol
it is arranged in E (E major ... not Em which means E minor btw) meaning the key of the song I play ... the recorded studio version is in the key of C ...
if you don't understand this - don't worry ... just think the record starts on a C chord, here, I start on a E chord
some songs are in different keys, the most common is c where all sharps and flats are naturally occuring. when songs are in different keys certain notes are flat/sharp, which is why its pretty handy to know your circle of 5th. so when playing in Bb its good to know that all b's and e's are flat. so when he says he plays it in the key of e major he knows that f's, c's, g's, and d's are sharp. just a little lesson music theory

why did you change the key of the song, i don't get it.
nankerphelge718 1 year ago
@nankerphelge718 To bring a different 'flavour' to the song ... to use different chord voicings ... because I like the sound of the progression ...

Same arrangement used by the band Spirit in their 1976 cover :) (one of the most underrated band ever by the way)
(just type "Spirit like a rolling stone on youtube")
