@Chicken00895 If you watch other videos of him singing when he was young, you can tell its him. Also you can hear the little gasps that he takes in between words that he still does to this day...

But it can easily be mistaken, he is a little squeaky. ;)

It's very distracting when he breathes in it's very wheezy. Watch a few of his videos and you'll notice it, too. It was very distracting for me when he was on Idol, too. It takes away from his performance for me.

No. He doesn't have asthma. He had a type of vocal pyralisis when he was younger. He could have had a surgery, but it would be risky, so he didn't do it. He talked about it when he auditioned for AI.

When he was around 12 he got really sick and it damaged one of his vocal cords. its called vocal pyralisis. He couldnt sing for like 2 years,and he could barley talk,and it gave him trouble breathing. He had the choice of getting surgery,but he chose not to cause it was too risky,so instead he went through voice therapry. He has recorved now, but he still has some trouble. Sometimes he gets afraid that it will come back. But either way his voice was amazing then and its just as amazing now!!! <3
