The best WWII fighter! This one is with the Merlin engine. The Rolls Royce Griffon is around 500 horses more powerful.

For all those in the UK, there are many independent airfields that have private collections, you have to pay for entry but you can sit in them from World War II to Cold War planes.

As for the Spitfire, well it is indeed a fantastic plane, I live in the city that gave birth to the Spitfire, great video as always phreakindee, excuse my spam, it's not on my part.

i think the plain died cause the mix was to rich, when the engine gets wormed up it doesn't need so much fuel and thats why it was so Smokey, that was all the excess fuel it had to burn

@PilGrimmm I explained what happened at 3:03 in the video... as I stated there, I HAD tried to fly it before, starting in mid-flight, and crashed badly. What I had never attempted was to cold-start the plane manually and take off, which is what this video shows.

@MagikGimp I haven't shared any yet, no. I haven't found a way to properly exclude default buildings from the scenery yet, which means my buildings are only standing in place of the default scenery. The results are effective at a distance, but buggy up close.

Btw cool mod there! Had no idea they made straight 12's (engine type) in the worldwar two era. Pretty cool you can do stuff like a compression test - extremely useful, to tell you the one or two parts you still have left :D Too bad you can't fly a plane with a starter and half a propeller - WHO MAKES UP THESE SILLY RULES OF LIFE?? interresting that on newer planes even the starter is a little jetengine. Crap on manuals, I love how you can use the mouse to click all those little buttons.

Love flight sim! Got it too - I usually select some Airbus plane, or Boeing and set it too the highest difficulty. I have then brought to the table, my G25 steering wheel. Yes. I know it's all wrong but I don't have a joystick and never got around to buying one. I think on the Hardest setting, I've succesfully taken off, gone to another airport and landed a plane twice. Out of erhm - I'll keep that too myself.

I built this plane as a kid. A model of it that is. The landing gear were supposed to work on that one too, but didn't cause of an excess of glue. Maybe that was the problem with your gears, who knows?

@THOMASSU63 I always ended up gluing the gear in place on my model planes as well. I doubt that's the case here, hehe.

I tried X-plane 10 recently. Well, the demo at least. Seems like it has some stuff going for it, but FSX runs way better, looks better (with the add-ons I have) and I'm far more used to how FSX works. I'll give XP10 another try sometime, but for now I'm still pleased with FSX.

@rasui80 It was about 50 bucks overall, with both the plane and Accu-Sim expansion. Well worth it to me, since I've had FSX for so long now it was like a breath of fresh air.

I've seen some very detailed free mods, but nowhere near the level of simulation this one provides. Lots of really freaking good ones on sites like Simviation and AVsim.
