I think the best way of improving the SU would be moving K2 Lockdown £1 drinks to another night eg wednesday, friday or saturday. Hanley has student night on mondays but nobodys ever in the mood for going when theres £1 drinks on.

I don't get why people are angry! People should understand we're a small uni and therefore we won't get big names! I get emails saying "What do you want to do with your union?" and I think this is the perfect answer really! Make the music a bit better (variety!) and make drinks/entry a bit cheaper! I don't think that's too much to ask :)
Video is really good! Love it! The problem today is selling downloads and albums doesn't make the money it used to. Record companies therefore have made tours more expensive. This doesn't help keele at all. We're not in a big city, so i guess getting live bands and acts is a gamble.
Sadly, as others have said, new indie/rock music is pretty thin on the ground at the moment, so it's an even bigger gamble now with those acts. If any money is lost it affects critical union services which help you.

@earthwormjj They do have decent bands yes, but they are quite niche... We would make a loss because of the lack of broad appeal - we would literally have to sell out to make it worth while. If acts like the Dirty Pretty Things, The Subways and The Macabbees didn't sell out when they played Keele back when guitars were in the chart, they certainly won't sell out now... We tried to make Wednesdays an indie night in K2, the Freshers hated it... Its sad, but true.
