You can get an excellent CD recording of the Covent Garden production of this wonderful opera from the US-based Premiere Opera website. Go to that site and just search for Steffani or Niobe. Also, if you like Steffani's music, try the Duetti da camera - easily available on CD; and let's hope for more soon from this wonderful composer.
I contacted the ROH recently about a dvd being released and they said as yet there are no plans but to email again in the new year. I for one would be devastated if nothing was released and perhaps in greater numbers we may with a barrage of emails be able to prompt the ROH into releasing a DVD or CD of this wonderful production!

This was a very special Opera and I would have seen it more times if I could have. PLEASE STAGE THIS AGAIN. The opening of the second act was unforgettable. I really hope the ROH has filmed this for release on DVD...
Yes. Astounding production, singing (Laszczkowski utterly tremendous - but in any other company, how amazing Veronique Gens, Iestyn Davies, and Alastair Miles would also seem), and playing (bravi tutti to the whole band and particular credit to the conductor). Also how refreshing to see something which took a baroque work on its own terms, with elegance, brio, and total conviction. Rupert Christiansen was wrong: this is no dead corpse. The liveliest music making at the ROH for a long time.
Saw Niobe on Friday at the ROH, I hope someone, somewhere is recording (has recorded) this wonderful opera for posterity. A tremendous find, a tremendous experience. So many arias, so many beautiful pieces, one has to have the chance of hearing them again.
Superb. Laszczkowski put up a heartbreaking performance, and perhaps we witnessed one of his last appearances as a sopranist... So glad to have been there!
One of the finest operas I have seen at Royal Opera House in the last 2 years. Thank you for this masterpiece. Can we have some more early opera, never mind if the Russians don't come,we'll be there even in the most expensive seats.
The Royal Opera House presents the British premiere of a major work by the Italian Baroque master Agostino Steffani. Based on Ovid’s retelling of the story in his Metamorphoses, NIOBE REGINA DI TEBE is presented here in a production by Lukas Hemleb.
Saw this a few evenings ago at Covent Garden . ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT> fantastic cast. Iestyn Davies especially outstanding. A piece of Theatricla History. Amzing to think this piece has been neglected fro 300 years!
@tuffy942 Dear, thanks for blocking us! I think that everybody should be allowed to express their opinion on YT if they just comment on what an artist does and what image he creates ON STAGE. Philippe Jaroussky is a public figure. He puts himself in the limelight to be judged by listeners! Nobody insulted him personally! But you don't allow freedom of expression on your channel. If you love your "Prince Charming" so much and manipulate comments you really deserve this TRASH presented as art!
That is such great news SMidgley!
I have just made my order. It was an amazing performance
