insta chains are great for some applications. great on a fire apparatus you can turn em on from inside the cab and get through a slippery situation. we still chain our trucks up when the snow hits hard though
@PocketBunnyProd From what I've heard from various firefighters....they don't work all that well. They're only good in a couple cm of snow, or packed snow. Even then, when the truck is on a slant it just slides off the chains. But for Vancouver they should work perfectly...they don't get intense amounts of snow and keep it mostly packed or cleared. They work great to get you unstuck.
you would never see that in Ontario, not allowed here anyway under the hta. but I have to admit its still funny, its the first fa I have ever senn with them.
Huh didn't know that. With all the snow you get back east you would think they would be used often. We rarely use them but when it snows in Vancouver some of the side roads are brutal and its the only way we can get to the call.

They do have insta-chains. You can see them hanging down off the rear axle at 0:03 seconds. I don't know why they don't use them...

Oh yeah, Your right.. They must have been broken. Typical new apparatus issue. Things don't work as they should or not at all.
