Geezer (the bass player) used to be into to all of this satanic stuff. He had a tiny apartment which was painted all black with upside down crosses and pictures of Satan everywhere. One day Ozzy brought this book round to the apartment. It was an old 15th Century book all in Latin with pictures of Satan and Geezer had a really bad feeling about it. That night he woke up from a terrible nightmare and saw a black shape at the bottom of his bed. He told the band, and they made this song.

I was in my last year of high school when this album came out. my then girlfriend had bought it and played it for me. this song was so powerful and overwhelming I couldn't believe it. the speakers on the wall vibrated like hell. I played over and over. a few months later they were on a bill as the opening act for the old fleetwood mac ( before nicks and buckingham) when they were a heavy blues band. great concert! both groups!

This was the first album I ever got, Black Sabbath Black Sabbath, double album and when you opened it up it had a lady in a coffin with a mirrored cross stuffed through her chest! That was fucking awesome, what was even better is this was given to me on my 11th birthday by my grandmother, and one of my aunts, two religious fanatics walking around with rosary beads and always at church.
