saw this film. it's unimportant. sharp, smart and well executed sure... but unimportant. can't exactely say why this is aside from the fact that the subject matter feels far more catastrophic and potentially devasting in my head than anything represented in this film. bujaski's dialogue which could be brilliant is merely pedantic to me because of the lack of emotional stake and investment. still sadly it's better than 99% of what's out there

First they compared him to Cassavetes which he courted... a filmmaker who is so complex and important he's still not understood and then they compare him to Chekhov. Bujalski went to Harvard and is well spoken and mature but these films are simple cloying, cute advertisements for a high school cilque. emtionally tepid, stingy...conservative...and way too pleased with themselves.
