The Beatles songs were up for sale, Paul and Yoko were to go in together on a $20 million dollar bid, at the last minute Yoko pulled out, and Paul decided not to make a bid on his own. Michael paid $47.5 million, outbidding all others, and aquired the songs fairly. Paul is said to be worth around $1 billion today, so if he chose to be cheap, he shouldn't bitch about it later.

Buying the Sony/ATV catalogue was probably one of the smartest moves Michael did in his life. He not only set himself with a lifetime of royalties, but also his children. Although Michael is gone, his percentage of the catalogue remains and his children essentially will never have to worry about things financially.

Paul neglects to mention he had the chance to buy the catalog twice and he didn't want to pay what they were asking. He asked Yoko to buy it with him and she said no and told him to stop being so cheap and just pay the price. Paul and Linda were worth a fortune at the time and $48 million was chump change to them but they still let the catalog sit on the market. Michael was a better businessperson than the McCartneys and Paul should have told the truth.

I dont hate Paul (I am a Beatles fan) but I dont 'like' that he tells this story re the catalogue every time which encourages people to hate on Michael Jackson (see Beatles fb page!). In the transcripts of Holmes A Court (owner of the cataloque) Transaction. Paul (although he had the money) was trying to get someone to buy it with him Yoko who we know did not get on with Paul said no as she did not want Paul owning John's songs, Paul pulled out of the deal and Michael Jackson's bid won.!
