This is the best recording of Washington Grays by a H.S. Band I have heard. For them to do so well ON THE MARCH says a lot for their music program. Their Eb cornet players are among the best. They should be proud!

Grafulla composed Washington Greys in 1861 for the 8th Regiment, New York State Militia. It breaks the old formulas because it has no introduction, no break strain, and no stinger.

i ve a version from a record of 1930's. The music sounds more dynamic. Im not so fond of the modern interpretation of the march.
