I got a Mauser98K 1944 for my 11th birthday. It is in amazing condition and has a laminated stock. And just today my dad got a German 1941 G-33/40 in great cond. Its a shame they made so few
lol i know eh thats so funny, man i know this is random and u probably dont care but i took my buddy to the range and when i was showing him how to use my r/c k98 i ejected the first shell really fast and sacked him =p
once again i doubt u care but u hell maybe ull get sum jollys from that =)
Nah, I'm good, I stocked up back when Yugo 8mm was REALLY cheap. I'm talking 900 round cases for around $50.00 cheap. I didn't get in on the cheap Turkish surplus, but I did alright.
hey ytykg, where did you get your rifle?? you got a site or something i could find any good snags??? a number i could call. Im looking to get one, cant find any good places.....if so can you post..oh and by the way, i meant your Mauser K-98k rifle.
Miltech and Mitchel's are almost the same thing to me, they strip the guns from all their history and re-sell them for an arm and a leg, so you end up with a "nice looking" overpriced rifle. I'd rather pick up a RC k98 ($300-$350)and do some stock work to it, and it'll look like the original german finish (strip off the shellac with denatured alcohol)and you'll have a nice rifle. I'd rather have a beat up RC k98 than something that looks like a parade rifle from Mitchel's or Miltech.
Try a Miltech Arms K98K. Its all remanufactured and all that. I mean, HISTORICALLY its worth... next to nothing, but for people who just want a GOOD rifle to shoot thats not in bad surplus condition, Miltech is the place to go.
Bad surplus. What bad surplus? When the Russian's rebuilt these rifles they threw out the bad ones, (worn rifling, bent barrels, etc.) and only rebuilt them using good quality refurbished parts. The importers also sort through them and get the good ones. The rifling in mine looks brand new and all the metal is in great shape.
I'm not saying there aren't bad ones out there, but a majority make great shooters AND have history.
Woah, I just went to there site, $1295 for a "restored" rifle? That's worse than Mitchell's. The only difference is they rebuilt them, and they did it correctly. Still, for that price you could buy an all matching WWII bring back with the paper work, and still have money left over.
If anyone wants a good mauser that will run $299 for shooter and $399 for collector grade get them from mitchell's mausers. I like the look of the laminate stocks better and they will only run you a little more.
The cost of German Kar98k's is going up. I paid about $375 for an excellent shooter grade. Made in 1941, I forget what factory, but it's still in excellent condition. If you find a good Kar98k, matching numbers or not, for under $300, buy it. You'll never regret owning one.
I would not recommend Mitchell's Mausers. They are Yugoslavian made post WW2 Mauser copies, the M-48. An M-48 can be had from most gun stores or surplus websites for around $150. Mitchell's ropes you in thinking you are getting a restored "Kar98" when you are really just getting a Yugo M-48. Buyer beware. Google this for accuracy if you wish.
after the lee enfield mk 3 .303, that is my second favourtie bolt action rifle, it was quite funny when the guy got hit in the head with the cartridge, and you can go how ever fast with a bolt action rifle you can (but it'll heat up quicker) my friends and i used a deactivated lee enfield and one of my friends could do 10 bolt pull bakcs in 5 seconds! lol nice bolt action rifle though.
How is he bolting to fast? Let the man shoot the way he wants. Besides, if you wanted to survive in a firefight with one of these things, you had to bolt that fast in order to compete with enemies with semi-auto rifles or faster bolt actions like the M1 Garand or the Lee Enfield.
the mauser 98k it is really accuate up to 800 yards with a scope and 400 yards with out one. I own two of them they are an excellent gun and go for $250-$500
FreudianJedi, panzerjager1943 said that the shooter needs to slow down when he is pulling the bolt back on the gun. He wasnt talking about the shell hit the camera man, that was funny though.
