any time anyone outs up a big jackpot like a hole in one contest or run 11 racks they buy insurance.CJ didnt have to pay him the ins did and paid every penny.CJ Wiley is probably one of the most respectable pool players ever and a very smart buisness man.Bad rummors hurt this sport more anything and it tics me off its pool players starting the rummors. Then they wonder why theres no money in it.
I was at CJ's pool hall in 1993. He was gambling with Jimmy Wetch. They played 10 ahead for 10k, CJ won, then played another 10 ahead for 8K, that second set took maybe an hour. Not bad for a nights action.
I met CJ when he was about 16 years old in Omaha Nebraska, at Big John's Billiards. By the way, what's the point of even uploading a match if the whole thing can't be uploaded?
the reason i THINK we have'nt seen too much of Wiley is because of Earl running what? 11 racks of 9ball on Wiley's Camel Tour. story goes that Wiley guaranteed i think a million if someone, in one of his tourneys, could run out a race to 11. Problems; Earl could, and did. #2 Wiley did'nt have the money. i think there was a lengthy court battle and i don't know if Earl ever got his money. I think it busted the Camel Tour and I do know that CJ Wiley was'nt heard from in a long while.
1. Earl got his money, every penny of it. It was $50K over 20 years, or $667,000 up front. He chose up front payment
2. C.J hasn't played because he chose a different career avenue. He owns a successful business in Dallas, TX.
C.J is still a phenomenal player. As much as he and i discuss him returning to the game, he will only do it when he is ready. He is one of the most under rated players in the history of the game.
C.J has a bad reputation due to rumors and misconceptions, it's just sad.
Lemonite1, I was privy to some of this. Earl needed to run 10 racks for 1 million, he did run 11 as you say. Upon this evening Carson presented Earl with a check for $50,000, Carson was with faith that the insurance company he had secured for the sum of $3,800.00, "there abouts." Would come through with a $50,000.00 check each year for 20 years. This is only a small portion of the total picture of what pressure a life must bare, for both Earl, and Carson.
The event spawned many rumors both good and bad for Earl and CJ. It is unfortunate that most merely accept the bad, which I am guilty. Thank you for the response. I stand corrected.

your true man, im somewhat of a perfectionist and trying to get rid of that bad habit, you give some pretty damn nice advices young padawan. we should talk(i mean chat)
being british i dont really know much about the goings-on in american pool. does anyone know what happened to the sardo tight-rack they used in the other videos from previous U.S opens that BClub has also posted?
just seems like a less primevil method than having to rack your own balls
1 rack of a set....why even post this? But thanks for all the other ones BClub I really wish for more full length matches...it's good for the game. You can watch all other sports for free why not pool.

That's the oddest backhand grip I've ever seen in pro pool. How does he get any stroke on the ball?

CJ is a phenomenal player. Of course, everyone knows how good Earl is. I'd love to see the rest of this match.

It happens to everybody. Earl wins a lot more than he loses you can bet that.

CJ wins this match, but he STILL has the 7 from Earl.

Racking your own balls? What's wrong with the ref doing that lol
ShotCaller724 4 years ago
The players whine if they get a bad rack, so it's getting more common to let them rack their own.
