  • i notice some flaws in the anime version that if was fixed we could probably put into real life.

    1. Material Durability - Something so small will wear out quickly so we need to find out someway to prevent them from wearing out within 3days of use or so

    2. Breaking System - Doing a snowboard style breaking method won't work as it wont be easily done for inexperienced people so I'm thinking of using a motor in the wheel that would lock in place a smaller wheel to create friction slowing down the

    3. Power life - I don't think current technology can create a battery or some form of power source small enough for this sort of thing.

    4. any others feel free to list xD. These are just my thoughts, might try to make em after i get a university education tho.

  • See So far I get 30 min of good ride time up to 15mph.

    only issue is you need protective gear....

    and yeah accelerating on hill to loose him seems like good idea till your going like 45 mph and there is rough pavement ahead.....YEAH ROAD RASH SUCKS...... takes forever to stop hurting.

    ps electric motors stall out going up large hills. ...leg power FTW

  • Even if you could make a motor small enough to fit in a rollerblades you still wouldn't be able to wallride like in air gear or jump from a 6-story building like nothing, otherwise it would be the coolest thing in a world :D

    ...But people.... find an energy source that can match 4 car batteries the size of a playing card and as thick as 26 cards stuck together that would help

  • @11BusoRenkin11 Well gasoline is 29.18 times more dense than a zinc air battery, a battery which is more than 2 times as energy dense as a lead acid car battery. So divide 58.36 by the size of the 4 car batteries and that's an over estimate of the amount of gasoline it would take to match the amount of power in those batteries. Though it would probably be about a full deck or two of gasoline.

  • @xXxGenasai i came up with a another idea for that. What if you made some sort Tesla coil similar to the small engine ignition system. A wheel or both wheels spin acting like the fly wheel in an engine. Every time the wheels spins the magnet will pass over the coil producing how ever much electricity the coil is meant to produce.Every time the wheel spins it would produce enough electricity only to make the wheel spin a second time and repeating process . as long as you give it a push

  • @11BusoRenkin11 You would have problems with turning because of the gyroscopic affect. Gyroscope batteries or flywheels are only best when stationary. Cars are kind of an exeption because they can waist plenty of energy and get away with it. Also, these things are supposed to be light not heavy /: whats the fun in that?

    we could use magnets. if u could arrange them in a pattern on the wheel and get a another magnet we could control the direction of how a wheel spins, and the speed.

  • Erm, I really do admire everyone here for their inspiration, willpower, and ambition to create Air Treks... but I also hate to be the one to break the bad news to everyone :( According to this video, the Air Treks are composed of a small 4 kilowatt motor. Now if you google small 4 kilowatt motors, their sizes are huge. So the chance of us creating these things with our current technology is pretty slim... *moment of silence* ><'' I'm sorry guys, I was looking forward to it too :(

  • To be honest...the motors could be in the shoes for all I care, It'll be closer to air treks than anything else, motor doesn't HAVE to be in the wheels, it could be inside the shoe instead? It's close enough but true motor in the wheels should be better :)

    And I think I might have an idea for Air Treks... They won't start up and go on command, but as you speed up, they make you speed up faster than normal.

  • @JTrudy808 Um... first of all NOTHING will protect a rider from that height. It's just not smart to do that in the first place.

    Other than that, the idea isn't fully thought of yet :D

  • @Overtheheight Hey dude i saw this post and I wanted to tell you that I actually built a couple of these things. Using a 400 rpm motor, I was able to make about three pairs. They're a bit big and there's a few bugs to work out but I'm working on version two now.

    P.S. my air trek group is called Kurokaze (Black Wind). I'm have afew members and i'll be looking for more if i can get these things mass produced.

  • from 0:08 look at the sidgrove on the wheel and then look at that pen like thing coming out the side of the back wheel and once again at that brown block like thing now that u have noticed all this here my propoal what if that brown block thing was used to energize some sort of circul spin device that once it starts to move it spins that metal device inside the wheel which in its entirety serves as the motor there is no need for a micro motor I JUST SOLVED THE MYSTERY OF AIR TREKS if anyone wan

  • Like many other project of this nature, I think that if people are going to try and make them that they should do it in groups or just have people work on components separately and the after you get those individual parts working then actually think about putting them together into the final product. No point in just saying an idea and not testing it.

  • So according to the video, to make Air Treks real we need a tiny motor that can get basically 5 - 6 horsepower. Thats about the power of my lawnmower. And to keep it smaller than the wheels, anything else wouldn't really be Air Treks.

    i cant say what the weight will be but it will be 15.lbs or less with incredible speed performance strength you could probably do alote of the stuff you see in the movie.

  • i was thinking about actuly selling those but the problem is 1.dont want too be sued 2.dumb retards would get killed 3.dont have the material but i would be able too desing those BUT the wieght is aprox.18pounds per pair too get them too 130mph but it shouldnt be done becouse of safty but i would like a pair but dont expect anything magical out of them like in the anime lol

  • or build a motor that could run on the earths magnetic fource so that it will even go faster plus if you want to jump a building you could have a system in the AT that would no you limit of the jump when falling so that your knees dont come bashing out of your skin

  • AT's are pretty easy to make jay all you need is a power source small and powerfall enought to make it move and some buttons on the bottom to make it stop and go and the power source could be an atom and you can find that anywhere if albert einstine can make a bombe out of things you cant see even with a scope then we can make AT's

  • i just thought of something, when they jump they can go really high 15-40 feet some atleast so i was thinking that if we jumped that high when we would come back down we would only end up in a hospital since we would break our legs, no?

  • Not at all. At some time in the series they mention an "air cushion" shock absorption system -under the skates in between the wheels- that is released on impact. So basicly it must pressurize air taken in from the fall equal to the height reached, keeping the skater safe(as long as their not jumping the Grand Canyon!). Of course, that just makes the construction of air trek all the more a dream.(Darn'it)...Though at least it gives all that white dust purpose.

  • You're completely right. Good thing that I got the skills. I've been skating for five years now. The amazing thing is that AT's are pretty easy to made. The motors, the bateries, the power, it's all much easier then making PDA's or something

  • PDAs are far easier to make than air trecks. There are many technologies that don't exist yet that goes into the AT. There isn't even a battery that could power such a device and still fit in a skate, let alone the other impossible things it involves.

    Saying an AT is easy to make since it has motors, batteries, and power is like saying practical flying cars are easy to make if you just add an engine, power, and batteries.

  • Ive seen the anime and from what i see it all depends on the riders form and speed so without that you cant ride as high up there are episodes that show hints of this.

  • hey guys ive been trying to makes these too i thought i was the only one we should like all meet up and all put money in too invent them because i would ride them if they were illegal or legal i know the motor is the only problem but what if we made it so that the motor charged up energy constantly and when we did need it it would stay built up in the skate as the boost you need

  • or maybe design it so that the motor only needs energy to start but once it gets going we can maybe use coils to generate energy from the wheels themselves?

  • I have looked deeply into making these over the last few weeks. There are two problems: Torque and Power Supply.

    There is not near enough torque in smaller motors to make it start from 0 mph, and there is no way to have a power supply in the skate itself, theres simply not enough electricity (even for lithium batteries), they'd have to be mounted on you, in a backpack or w/e.

    I got Agito's costume all done. I only need to make the air treks. The problem is the motor, if it's small, it won't power a human body forward. If it's too big, it'll look bulky and NOT like an air trek
