She looks really beautiful in that lovely dress. Still I don´t get why she doesn´t tell Mr. Boldwood to back off. It´s pretty obvious that she has a thing for Gabriel.
He is creepy - thoroughly obsessed, and the kind of guy who would have smothered her completely if they'd married. I can see it: "Why were you looking at that man? Do you love him? Does he want to marry you?" He'd be doing it every day.
