A super-state run by foreign courts and unelected bodies is exactly what Henry VIII & parliament broke from, when he dissolved the centuries old monastery system and wrenched and established the COE from Roman Catholic England.
This doesn't mean that we wouldn't like to hold it. Especially in the rich and developed north where we've been fighting for decades for indipendence from Rome and the criminal underdeveloped south. Fuck the politicians.
In Italy there is a constitutional law that prevents the government to hold a referendum on the ratification of international treaties.... That's why we are amongst the few countries that is not complaining about a referendum... simply because it would be illegal to hold it... plus that law belongs to a part of the constitution which is rigid (cannot be changed).
Thats a fairly stupid comment considering the people of Kosovo and their governemnt which has just gained independence wish to join the European Union as soon as possible.
You would think after just getting independence theyd protect their sovereignty unless ofcourse they understand that joining the union is going to be a GOOD thing for their country and economy in the long term and that they will always have the power to withdraw from the union if they so choose :)
We could follow the lead of the E.U. and keep on having referendums till we get the 'right' answer or, as they are doing now not allow the people a vote at all!
Ya but u will never be in power so u cant not allow people a vote on the issue. I suppose u could just totally ignore the results like they did in France and the Netherlands and carry on regardless.
Thats actually probably what would happen, ud say we were tricked and you still need to fight for our freedom. Perhaps u and the EU do share a few things in common =)
U were not trying to be ironic though. If the British people voted to stay in the EU, UKIP wouldnt disband the next morning they would come up with an excuse about the vote just like the EU did in those two countries.
I support some of the policies of UKIP, there are many problems with waste in the EU and ur party speaks out against it which is great. I just think we should try and help fix the problem not run away from it putting ourselves at risk.
50 years of the EU and we keep getting nil point. Will you still be spouting the nonsensical Tory line of being "In Europe but not run by Europe" in another 50 years when you're old and grey and Orwell's predictions have come to pass?
Big Brother is always looking over us but thats the policies of OUR government not Brussels or the European Union. We have the most CCTV cameras in the world for a reason and its not because some European sitting in Brussels told us to.
We are members of the EU we are not ruled by Europe. We have an independent foreign policy and recent developments in kosovo shows EU nations can take different views and positions on things
I wrote to my MP and got a positive resposne. He said if Brown ended up signing it then yes, he would support non-ratification and instead call for a national referendum.
Would a NO vote ensure our withdrawal from the EU? I hope so....ukipwebmaster, can you confirm this is a possibility please?
This would open up such a big can of worms which is why they are so desperate for the treaty to be ratified without a referendum. If it isn't ratified the you know what will hit the fan and the fun and games will begin!
gordon brown has just signed the eu treaty and has surrendered all our rights to judge's in brussels. the only way we can stop mr brown is to remove him by force and i never thought i would have to say that.
colonel brown is a prick.there trying to make tthe european trading bloc which after all is a decent idea and has worked.into a one country superstate ie usa.its inevitable .look whats happened the cunt signed the treaty by himself behind closed doors?????????? this is the extreme opposite of a referendum.somethings going on id love to know what but i suspect its bad.
do you know what i have just been round my town and they have eu flags flying ever where.even though the EU constitutional treaty has not gone thruogh yet. i am so mad that we did not get the referendum that the Labor Party promised .but flying eu flags about the place is like putting a red rag in a bulls face thoughs complete bastards dont have any respact for any one or any thing they can all SOD OFF!!!
well thats what happens when you have got a shadow government (eu) at work the few are controling the manny witch should not happen in a democracy. its only in a dictatorship would that happen we are told what to do and think we must get democracy back in the uk.the only way this will happen is the most powerfull weapon of change we have and that is the vote lets bring real change to the uk and bring back real democracy for every one
Skulls what crap you talk. SKY News is owned by the same guy that owns The Sun and is against the European Union. The SUn takes an anti European stance because its run by a radical right wing American that loves George W Bush.
Sky news would of covered the event if it was a big one.. Small protests against silly issues happen every day of the week, Theres bigger news in the world to report.
Like the EU playing an important role in dealing with Kosovos independence.
Well NATO is incharge of security not the EU. The hope of Serbia and Kosovo to one day join the European Union has helped keep violence down. The serbian government dont want to ruin or set back their chances of getting in.
As for Iraq, if only we had listned to our european friends in France and Germany instead of the good old USA huh?
Im sure most people would rather a referendum on British troops in Afghanistan and Iraq than on EU treaties that most dont care about
Keep up good work.

Why are we supporting the independence of Kosovars while at the same time we in the UK are throwing our own sovereignty away?

Will UKIP support the lib dems in getting a referendum on British membership of the European union rather than on this treaty that wont happen.
Im sorry but millions took to the streets against the Iraq war and it still went ahead, the majority dont care strongly about leaving the EU.
If we could have a vote on treaties and international policies.. i think people would rather of had one on Iraq =)
The EU is good for Britain and this treaty will be ratified.. Get over it :)

Wrong - This has still to be ratified by Westminster - Make sure if your MP wants to keep their job that they vote not to ratify it.
