This doesn't mean that we wouldn't like to hold it. Especially in the rich and developed north where we've been fighting for decades for indipendence from Rome and the criminal underdeveloped south. Fuck the politicians.

In Italy there is a constitutional law that prevents the government to hold a referendum on the ratification of international treaties.... That's why we are amongst the few countries that is not complaining about a referendum... simply because it would be illegal to hold it... plus that law belongs to a part of the constitution which is rigid (cannot be changed).

Thats a fairly stupid comment considering the people of Kosovo and their governemnt which has just gained independence wish to join the European Union as soon as possible.

You would think after just getting independence theyd protect their sovereignty unless ofcourse they understand that joining the union is going to be a GOOD thing for their country and economy in the long term and that they will always have the power to withdraw from the union if they so choose :)

Im sorry but millions took to the streets against the Iraq war and it still went ahead, the majority dont care strongly about leaving the EU.

If we could have a vote on treaties and international policies.. i think people would rather of had one on Iraq =)

U were not trying to be ironic though. If the British people voted to stay in the EU, UKIP wouldnt disband the next morning they would come up with an excuse about the vote just like the EU did in those two countries.

I support some of the policies of UKIP, there are many problems with waste in the EU and ur party speaks out against it which is great. I just think we should try and help fix the problem not run away from it putting ourselves at risk.

Big Brother is always looking over us but thats the policies of OUR government not Brussels or the European Union. We have the most CCTV cameras in the world for a reason and its not because some European sitting in Brussels told us to.

We are members of the EU we are not ruled by Europe. We have an independent foreign policy and recent developments in kosovo shows EU nations can take different views and positions on things

I wrote to my MP and got a positive resposne. He said if Brown ended up signing it then yes, he would support non-ratification and instead call for a national referendum.

Would a NO vote ensure our withdrawal from the EU? I hope so....ukipwebmaster, can you confirm this is a possibility please?

This would open up such a big can of worms which is why they are so desperate for the treaty to be ratified without a referendum. If it isn't ratified the you know what will hit the fan and the fun and games will begin!

gordon brown has just signed the eu treaty and has surrendered all our rights to judge's in brussels. the only way we can stop mr brown is to remove him by force and i never thought i would have to say that.

Well NATO is incharge of security not the EU. The hope of Serbia and Kosovo to one day join the European Union has helped keep violence down. The serbian government dont want to ruin or set back their chances of getting in.

As for Iraq, if only we had listned to our european friends in France and Germany instead of the good old USA huh?

Im sure most people would rather a referendum on British troops in Afghanistan and Iraq than on EU treaties that most dont care about
