How could you possibly hate this LMG? I feel like it is one of the only skill-requiring LMGs in the game. I have over 850 kills with it and I don't main support class. You just have to burst fire it, don't just hold down on the trigger. It does decent damage and is incredibly accurate. Also I really wish they didn't make it available to all, I wanted to feel like I was special for having it.
@bobthefreakincop Statistically, it's the worst LMG in the game. There's nothing this gun can do that one of the other LMGs couldn't do better. That's the problem.

Are you kidding? I love this gun. the reason your not getting kills is because it was ment for close quarters. My favorite guns: The Type 88(BF:BC2) and the Type 88 LMG. If yuo ask me it is amazing at close range. If you want it to be good, equip the thermal scope like on the level Kaffarov.
I actually like this gun. Get a good medium range scope and a bipod. Stick speed on and the you can hold down objectives very effectively. It was the first gun I used and has given me a good k/d, so anyway what I'm saying is it's good after you warm to it but without a doubt other guns can kick it's ass :)
Did you say 100 round magazine capacity with 1 in the chamber? I lol'd because its a belt fed weapon. btw all LMG's you need to burst fire...in this vid I've just seen you hold down the trigger like a leering idiot...learn how to fire the weapon.
Since it's belt fed, it doesn't have 100+1 but instead just has the 100 round belt (hence why the reload action includes cycling the bolt no matter how much ammo you have left.
No. No it's not... Check before you say that. Dice put attention to detail into this game, they did not may a faux pax like that. Watch any video of a belt fed reload or play the game and run a belt fed gun through a reload animation and see how many bullets are left. It will be 100 or 200, not 101 or 201.

why are the lmgs so hard to use in this game :/ the PKM in BFBC2 was my favourite and most comfortable weapon. But these 'modern' weapons have like no accuracy! :(
It feels like BFBC2 in my hands, you CAN burst it but it performs best with slow suttle movements. Also i would use the extended mag for reasons of accuracy ( as well as a suppression perk) so if you do miss it will give you extra time to shoot an enemy as they become suppressed. So i guess its about the player with this gun. Another thing, scopes for this gun are important as a 3.4 or higher will make this gun have more kick than you would think. but so far the iron sights and holo are best
This gun is ok, its on second place on my stats under my M249, my M249 is first(My weapon with most kills) but this gun is alright, when I first used it I liked it, but I would go with PKP over this.

@fc1ofc It's not much of a difference to me, but yea, I think the PKP is better for the reasons you mentioned. It's all about perception. Regarless, I just don't like either gun.
@fc1ofc That's called balance. You give up low recoil for superior damage. The PKP has one of the highest DPS' of all guns at nearly all ranges. The gun isn't suppose to be a lasor beams, it's mean to be a power house.
@Duckman1616 yah i know why but there are better lmg's out there. the m249 kills almost as fast as the PKP and has less recoil. the only place i would understand using it is if your defending a M-Com but you'd have to run bi-pod. you cant run and gun with this weapon
@fc1ofc First of all, just because you can't run and gun with it, doesn't mean no one else can. Furthermore, if a gun has bad recoil, why would it then be hard to use when the target is *closer* to you? Furthermore, the M249 only beats the PKP at 20-30M and at 60M+ (only if firing full auto with all bullets hitting, which at that range they wont). So the PKP wins up close, at medium range and likely at long range as well.
@Duckman1616 i know the PKP kills faster but the m249 is an easier gun to use. it is powerful but the M249 has teh second fastest kill time. my play style involves alot of moving around and i cant use the PKP because it isnt accurate enough for me.
The Type 88 feels like the m27's bigger brother. The recoil is slightly higher but the slightly lower rate of fire evens out the experience. As with any 100 round lmg in the game, it's going to be a bit more difficult to control than an assault rifle or the starting support weapons. The small iron sights are a plus because I prefer more open sights when searching for targets or engaging multiple targets. Request: combo review on the m27 + m416 and a review on the m60e4.
Type 88 LMG is not bad LMG it's my 3rd favorite LMG.
Im useing Type 88 LMG with PK-A 3.4x, Extended mag and Bipod.
Still i gets lots kills with this weapon and its one even it got really high recoil but really accurate when shooting 2 bullet burst at mid and long range this weapon is beast.
IMHO I really like the Type 88. What i do mainly with it is use extended mags and firing at the enemy like they're is no tommorow. What i really love about this gun is w/ a b-pod you can use this as a automatic sniper and fuck up a guys day really fast.
The type is my 2 fav Lmg you kind have to pop fire and have skill Iv won a lot of gun fights with the type in bf3 you he's have to have some time and skill
This is actually one of my face guns it's accurate if you can control it's initial kick the sight is unobtrusive it lets you see your enemy to me it's a 4 out of 5 it's damage and fire rate is great as well it's a love or hate gun
I do pretty good with the Type-88. It's a not a problem for me. Sure, there are better LMG choices at your disposal, but I never found this weapon to be as bad as you review it. Also it has one of the most badass gun sounds in the game haha.
This review is on point imo. I have about 200 or so kills with the thing, and I don't intend to go get any more with it. It's just horribly inaccurate even if you're aimed down prone while bipod'ed. The shots spread often too much even in the most ideal conditions, sometimes you hit, sometimes you miss in that type of situation - now factor that when hip firing or other bad setups. It's a shame since the T88 in BC2 was a very solid weapon, whereas this.. A piece of junk sadly.
To be honest this is a great review, because it is exactly what a review SHOULD be, if you actually listen closely, you can here them say that they "do not recommend that gun", and they still provided a preferred setup. If you disagree with them then do not watch their reviews, or better yet, make a review of your own and upload it to youtube.....
TL;DR Just because YOU like a certain gun doesnt mean everybody does.....
@Pancake833 Good call. IMO, there are better guns that are worth your time, this is kind of a waste of time. Again, just my opinion though, some people do love this gun.
I am surprised that you guys say that this gun sucks so much and then on the video you successfully kill just about every enemy you engage. Are you editing the videos and only show wins or what?
@johnbe2 Ya for the most part we try to show the highlights of what the gun can do. I meant to leave in some low lights as well, to showcase the downside of those guns that we point out, but I forgot. This gun really lacked consistency for me. There were times, as seen above, where I could do a lot of work, and then plenty of more times where I was getting wrecked over and over again just from NOT getting it to work for me.
I totally agree. I like all of the lmg's except this. I wanted to like it but it just doesn't work. It's like the bullets don't hit when you have your sights on someone. This and the p90 I can't use, even though they're both wicked in real life.
@HaloMasterSlayer I whole-heartedly disagree with this statement. Some guns work for some people, for others, they just don't like it. In this case, I don't like the Type-88. That doesn't mean I, or anyone else that doesn't like it, is bad. It just means we don't like the gun.
You guys have no idea what your talking about this gun is great incredibly high rate of fire for an LMG and the recoil is controllable 31-4 on rush with no sights, grip, and extended mags this gun wrecks players.

gaaah... I really like your guys' videos but this is where I gotta speak up. I'm surprised either of you actually play as support at all because all you guys do from what I've seen is play team deathmatch which is almost completely run and gun. A machine gun has no use for that situation, and to get the best out of any lmg, you should always have a bipod equipped and deployed for shooting. This is actually one of the best all around lmg's when used on a normal map with bipod and burstfire
@byscuit1973 I've actually been able to wreck people with an LMG in TDM, and we only play that when we're trying to record clips for these reviews, because you can get far more kills in that game type, guaranteed, compared to other game types.
This is the first LMG I unlocked everything for. I just love this gun! Put a firegrip on it and just burst fire it! I won a lot of battles with this gun!!
I usually reccomend using it in close quarter, its also great to charge into a room full of enemies. You hipfire all of them and don't need reloading for a long time

statswise this weapon has less vertical recoil then the m240b, pkp and m60. The rate of fire is almost he same ''650''. The biggest problem is the damage factor wich is a average 1/5 lesser then the first mentioned guns ..if they balance this, it would be a pretty good lmg. Nonetheless, the way you shoot isnt the way to go in most situations, try more burst fire. Hell, if u shoot like this with the pkp, the birds are falling out of the sky in notime.....
On my character I have the most weapon kills for it. I usually use Holographic sight, suppressor, and grip. I usually burst fire with it and aim slightly lower than where i go to compensate for the light kick of it.
@K3BANG Dude, we did...we even mention that in the video...still doesn't work for us. We just don't like this gun, doesn't suit our style. Works for others, not for us.

@K3BANG i know ive watched like three of their videos in a row now and they never burst fire. with support guns you are only supposed to shoot two to three bullets at the most. >.< cod kids.....
This is a great gun to get yourself killed. My preferred LMG is the MG36 (2nd unlock in assignments for the class) with foregrip, laser and holo/reddot, use it as an assault rifle rather then LMG and you'll be fine.
@assalat3 Absolutely, and I mentioned that twice to other people below. For FakeThriller and myself, we just couldn't get used to this gun. Myself personally, I think it's the biggest pile of shit in the game (that I've used so far), and FakeThriller just didn't like it.
@renski1792 Ya my aim is terrible. Like someone else said earlier in the comments, some guns work for people, and for others, it's a waste of time. The type88 is a perfect example, for FakeThriller and myself, we cant make it work, but plenty of others here alone said they love it.
i find this gun to be pretty accurate for a lmg. also compared to other weapons i find the iron sights useable. still no lmg can hold on to the crazy dmg per bullet of the pecheneg which is my main lmg
I agree on the gun though, it's not as bad as you guys make out. The PKP pechepig is the worst gun in any game let alone BF3. The type 88 has very bad iron sights, but everything else is ok. Best lmg is m249.
This gun is decent. Definitely not as bad you guys are making it out to be. You have to fire it in short controlled bursts. I don't know why you'd lay down on the trigger with an LMG unless you're trying to suppress an area.

While I don't think this gun is uber trash I'll definitely say that there's no reason to use it over the M249 which shoots faster with slightly less recoil or the QBB-95 which kills at the same speed but is MUCH easier to stay on target with.

I do pretty good with the Type-88. It's a not a problem for me. Sure, there are better LMG choices at your disposal, but I never found this weapon to be as bad as you review it. Also it has one of the most badass gun sounds in the game haha.

This review is on point imo. I have about 200 or so kills with the thing, and I don't intend to go get any more with it. It's just horribly inaccurate even if you're aimed down prone while bipod'ed. The shots spread often too much even in the most ideal conditions, sometimes you hit, sometimes you miss in that type of situation - now factor that when hip firing or other bad setups. It's a shame since the T88 in BC2 was a very solid weapon, whereas this.. A piece of junk sadly.

To be honest this is a great review, because it is exactly what a review SHOULD be, if you actually listen closely, you can here them say that they "do not recommend that gun", and they still provided a preferred setup. If you disagree with them then do not watch their reviews, or better yet, make a review of your own and upload it to youtube.....
TL;DR Just because YOU like a certain gun doesnt mean everybody does.....

@johnbe2 Ya for the most part we try to show the highlights of what the gun can do. I meant to leave in some low lights as well, to showcase the downside of those guns that we point out, but I forgot. This gun really lacked consistency for me. There were times, as seen above, where I could do a lot of work, and then plenty of more times where I was getting wrecked over and over again just from NOT getting it to work for me.

I totally agree. I like all of the lmg's except this. I wanted to like it but it just doesn't work. It's like the bullets don't hit when you have your sights on someone. This and the p90 I can't use, even though they're both wicked in real life.

@HaloMasterSlayer I whole-heartedly disagree with this statement. Some guns work for some people, for others, they just don't like it. In this case, I don't like the Type-88. That doesn't mean I, or anyone else that doesn't like it, is bad. It just means we don't like the gun.

You guys have no idea what your talking about this gun is great incredibly high rate of fire for an LMG and the recoil is controllable 31-4 on rush with no sights, grip, and extended mags this gun wrecks players.

gaaah... I really like your guys' videos but this is where I gotta speak up. I'm surprised either of you actually play as support at all because all you guys do from what I've seen is play team deathmatch which is almost completely run and gun. A machine gun has no use for that situation, and to get the best out of any lmg, you should always have a bipod equipped and deployed for shooting. This is actually one of the best all around lmg's when used on a normal map with bipod and burstfire

@byscuit1973 I've actually been able to wreck people with an LMG in TDM, and we only play that when we're trying to record clips for these reviews, because you can get far more kills in that game type, guaranteed, compared to other game types.

FYI noticed a minor mistake. none of the LGM's that are belt fed have +1 in the chamber they are all 100 rounds. (200 extended mag)

I usually reccomend using it in close quarter, its also great to charge into a room full of enemies. You hipfire all of them and don't need reloading for a long time

statswise this weapon has less vertical recoil then the m240b, pkp and m60. The rate of fire is almost he same ''650''. The biggest problem is the damage factor wich is a average 1/5 lesser then the first mentioned guns ..if they balance this, it would be a pretty good lmg. Nonetheless, the way you shoot isnt the way to go in most situations, try more burst fire. Hell, if u shoot like this with the pkp, the birds are falling out of the sky in notime.....

On my character I have the most weapon kills for it. I usually use Holographic sight, suppressor, and grip. I usually burst fire with it and aim slightly lower than where i go to compensate for the light kick of it.

This is a great gun to get yourself killed. My preferred LMG is the MG36 (2nd unlock in assignments for the class) with foregrip, laser and holo/reddot, use it as an assault rifle rather then LMG and you'll be fine.

@assalat3 Absolutely, and I mentioned that twice to other people below. For FakeThriller and myself, we just couldn't get used to this gun. Myself personally, I think it's the biggest pile of shit in the game (that I've used so far), and FakeThriller just didn't like it.

Fore grip, heavy barrel, 3.4x scope (first one you unlock) and then first in bursts. Never had a k/d under 1.0 with it. It's great in Metro.

i find this gun to be pretty accurate for a lmg. also compared to other weapons i find the iron sights useable. still no lmg can hold on to the crazy dmg per bullet of the pecheneg which is my main lmg

I agree on the gun though, it's not as bad as you guys make out. The PKP pechepig is the worst gun in any game let alone BF3. The type 88 has very bad iron sights, but everything else is ok. Best lmg is m249.

This gun is decent. Definitely not as bad you guys are making it out to be. You have to fire it in short controlled bursts. I don't know why you'd lay down on the trigger with an LMG unless you're trying to suppress an area.

While I don't think this gun is uber trash I'll definitely say that there's no reason to use it over the M249 which shoots faster with slightly less recoil or the QBB-95 which kills at the same speed but is MUCH easier to stay on target with.
