  • hey man great fish i was looking at gettting a couple of these i just wanted to know where you got these? did you get them offline or from a store.

  • FREAKING AWSOME!!!!!!!

  • There are not ugly looking goby fish..

Only an SA puffer and a Dwarf chain loach, both look really nice.

  • And some kinda catdfish, looks like an albino BN

  • Super cute! I have one of these guys, they are so much fun <3

  • sweet puffer man. I'm wondering if a sap would make a good tank mate for my figure 8. How big do they get? I'm not even sure how big my figure 8 will get but it is about the size of ur sap and hasn't grown much in the last 5 months.

  • Hey justinharker

No unfortunatley a SAP will not make a good tank mate for your F8! The SAP is Freshwater and the F8 is a Low Brackish water puffer!

Both puffers need a minimum tank size of 15usG (50litres).

If you want to learn more about any puffer come and join us on ThePufferForum (google it)There's loads of great info on every puffer there is. There's loads of friendly experienced puffer owners on there that are more than willing to answer any noob Q's. Hope to see you on there :D

  • Hey dude,

    Nice tank/puffer!

    How big is this tank?

Does this guy spend a lot of time pacing up and down the glass? I want a SAP but I'm worried it'll get bored in my 17g tank alone.

  • My puffer hasn't bitten any fish, but he eyeing the catfish alot lately...

  • Hi man, I like your fish a lot, I want one but the problem is that Ive heard that they bite the fins of other fish that have big fins and I have three angelfish or scalare, and as you know these fish have big fins, so I want to know if thats true man cause I love those fish but Im worried about my other fish, I would appreciate if you answer my question please

  • HI there,

    Excert: -

Although many puffers look cute and comical, most of them have a mean streak and will at least do some kind of damage to tank mates that are slow or that have long fins. The Amazon Puffer is the exception to this rule. It is a peaceful fish, almost to the point of being shy so they cannot be kept with aggressive tank mates. Even so it is a puffer and can nip fins, though usually just at feeding time.

  • Ok Thank you man, I trust you, so you really think that I can Put an Amazon Puffer with my Angel Fish??? ohhhhh, another thing, let me tell you something, the guy in the pet store told me that the amazon puffer is a very aggressive fish, that it would destroy my fish into pieces, should I belive him??? I am from mexico, and here in mexico people tell a lot of lies jajajaja no thats no true but please man reply and tell me if I should belive him man and thanks for replying my comment

  • I want a puffer **very badly and I've been doing some reading, but this video has unnerved me.

I have guppies, and a fiddler crab. Are they doomed? D:

  • Although people say that the South American CAN be put in with sime fish, I would suggest that your guppies would get terrorised and eventually caught. Not sure about the crab, to the puffer it's just a very very large natural meal, as they will eat REALLY small crabs. If I was housed with a 50lb steak, i'd work out a way ;-)

  • just want to add, some have success with the SAP in a community, but i'm not sure about long fin fish! (i.e. guppy).

  • I agree with everything you say here tkddavep.

I'm very lucky as I have a SAP in a comunity tank and he's fine, I have mainly Guppies and he leaves them alone.

If you do get a SAP and put him with your Guppies you have to be prepared to remove iether the Guppies or the SAP if he starts attacking them.

I also have a Mbu in with the SAP and Guppies and my SAP Bollo and my Mbu Naboo are the best of mates. They sit on the gravel together and will also sleep in the same corner :D (again Lucky)

  • Doesn't the mbu eat your guppies?

  • How do you trim their teeth? Do you use clove oil?

  • most use clove oil, and the doseage must be exact. MS-222 is probably a better option and is available online. There are many articles also on trimming and ms-222, thanks.

  • Please don't use clove oil to knock your sap out, IT CAN CAUSE BRAIN DAMAGE!

MS-222 is expensive but so worth it!

  • nice! is shrimp ok food for this puffers teeth? does it help to keep the teeth grinded down?

  • Hi, it helps as it does have a soft shell, but it is no substitute for snails. Even with a snail a day, the South American will need a trim at some point!

  • Nice vid! How big is your tank and how many other/kinds of fish do you have?

  • Hi, This is 1 tank of 4! it's 65l and he's with an albino bristlenose and dwarf chain loach. I have 2 x Fluval 2's running and change 50% per week, cheers.

  • lol, great video, nice song choice!!!
