You should know that you inspired me to do almost the exact same thing to my G too. I will prolly make a video. But mine is 2.25 dual. then a 3 inch single out the back with a 3 inch chrome tip......it sounds like a symphony
thank you, took 4 videos of g35's to find a good exhaust sound. easy to find one on the fx35 with the same engine, but i guess it's just the style of people who drive g35's more.
for me, I only like no muffler, borla, magnaflow, and some flowmasters. that also all depends on how the setup is done. I really like duals and duals with x pipe is best, but again if it has crappy or cheasy mufflers it ruins it.
Basically, as well as the stock muffler. Everything was cut off from the cats back. Then we put in 2.25" piping, all custom bent from the cats into a Vortex muffler under the middle of the car, with 2 pipes straight back using 3" tips. That's it.
What a great video! Awesome G35 man! I really like that dual exhaust setup... I never understood why the 03-06' G35 sedan didn't have split dual exhaust when the G35 coupe, Altima 3.5 and Maxima 3.5 (04+) did? It should have come from the factory like this just like the 07-08' G35 sedan did.
You can't fit a muffler on the right side unless you completely move the the evap canister. I just put a muffler under the middle of the car with two pipes straight back. We cut a template of the left side bumper cut out and cut out the right side to match it.
Ive followed your car on Driver a bit, seems like you've had this setup a while now. Someone posted a DIY to move the fuel evap, and its got me tempted. Have you noticed any problems at all over the long term after relocating the evap?
The post I saw on driver recently was about removing the evap completely and I don't see why that person wants to do it. It vents the fumes and without it, it will take you like 15 minutes to fill your gas tank. Similar to when the piping in your house isn't vented, it takes super long for your sink to drain. In regards to just relocating it, I haven't had any problems at all. It's still hooked up exactly as it was, we just lengthened the hoses and mounted it vertical instead of horizontal.
I wouldn't move it to the trunk like some people were saying. It's just not smart at all. It vents GAS fumes, which you obviously don't want anywhere in the trunk, regardless how well people say they can seal it. Just keep it under the car and move it to the right side as far as you can. You don't be able to fit a muffler on that side of the car unless you move it some where else (which is why some people try to), but if you just mount it like I did, you can easily fit a pipe past it.
man this is by far the best g35 ive heard, did you remove the catalytic converters or resonators? i just want my 05 sedan exhaust note to sound just like this! please reply! i want to know if my g can sound like this by removing the mid pipe resonator or anything!
I removed everything that was stock from the catalytic converters back. So all the piping, the resonator and the muffler.
The stock cats going into a muffler that's now under the middle front of the car, then two pipes straight back on either side of the car, that's it. Remember, I have two pipes on either side, so that makes it louder than just a single, as the sound spreads more. Take that into consideration when you think about what you want to do.
From the cat's it goes into the Y pipe, which goes into a new muffler that we put under the middle of the car, and from there, there's just 2 pipes out of the muffler straight back.
The main thing you have to do is move the evap that's in the way. We moved it verticle up tight to the right side, lengthening hoses and creating mounting brackets. Once you do that then you can fit a pipe past it, but there's no room to add a muffler there, which is why we put pipes straight back.
I have to buy an aftermarket rear valance or bumper and mod it to make it look nicer, but the stock valance cut out to match the left will have to do for now lol.
Check out my g35

Did u have to get a new rear bumper to fit the muffler on the other side or did u just use the stock bumper?
