  • The CG might not be perfect, but this shows how important good sound is! Awesome stuff right there! Great cinematography and editing!

  • loved it, really good for the year and tech available!! also, love your other CSAR vids. can you tell me the song in this vid, cheers :)

  • this was great so cool, i love the f-18

  • Really nice guys.

  • MISSILES?!?

  • Comment removed

  • hey, could you do this with a really nice quality for some money?

  • Niceeeeeee

  • OUCH THE AUDIO IS SO BAD!!!

  • were u usin F/A-18F or E???

  • the F/A-18D or B

  • @goldendude1994 it's an F/A-18D

  • @goldendude1994 it looked lik an f

  • Pretty cool!

  • That was pretty good for a 1999 project. It goes to show that a good story trumps over the top effects everytime. When the effects compliment the story and don't overpower it, it works better. The Kilrathi fighters were a nice touch BTW. ;)

  • Those mechs they were fighting, I've played Mechwarrior 4: Vengence before and I think those mechs were Vultures.

  • @SixTailedNaruto64

Nope, cockpit is wrong. Trust me, I'VE played the games AND surf sarna.net (the BattleTech/MechWarrior wiki). Those aren't Vultures, my friend.

  • lol nice 5/5

  • Very Cool!!!!!!!!!!! Tom Cruise better watch out, We got Someone COOLER than Him!!!!! Stay Cool & Hope to see more!!!!!

  • Great Radio chatter

  • Not very advanced effects, but great movie :) I really enjoy this one. I hope you will create more of them :)

  • I'd like to see you and your immature mind do something better. Even if you had to insult them, come up with reasonable criticism.

By the way, that was an interesting animation you made. Might seem that you weren't doing your best considering the comment you made in the "more info" tab. If you made another, do post it up for everyone here.

  • Ace combat 3? :P The graphs aren't the best but how did you do the HUD? It owned!

  • Thanks, the HUD was done in Adobe After Effects, see the "more info" tab for all the programs used.

  • Great video guys!

  • This is really great work! Well put together!

  • and the aliens are like "what the heck we just wnted to buy some nachos" they rearly shot

  • Not bad kids, not bad

  • Best.Video. EVAR!!! Sidewinders FTW!!!

Hmmm... You know what I whatched a documentary called Dogfights and they say that low-frequency radars can detect F-22s. The reson they aren't used is because of how mutch clutter they detect.

  • Those are missiles, sir.

    MISSILES!?!?

  • (Star Flight One) Wasent that the Little Birds AKA (AH-6) Helicopters in the movie "Black Hawk Down" Im not entirly Sure???

  • Actually the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet could beat the F-15 and maybe the F-15 and maybe the F-22 the weapon loadout for the F/A-18E/F Is larger than the F-15 F/A-18E/F can carry FOUR AMRAAM'S ON EACH WING AND ONE SIDEWINDER ON THE WING TIP ALSO THE F/A-18E/F CARRIES FOUR MORE AMRAAM'S UNDER THE FUSOLAGE TWO ON EACH SIDE ONE BEHIND THE OTHER.. But Since the F/A-22 has Stealh capability its OWNS F-15& F-18s all together but to Own the F-22 put a device where they can track STEALTH F-22 thats a fight

  • umm what?

  • LOL, like the editing.

  • Seriously, 1998? Looking pretty good for such an ancient vid.

  • Lol those battlemechs looked like a cross between a shadowcat, summonor, and a madcat.

  • Hornets would get owned. But F-15's thats a diferent story. Great vid!

  • Actually, F-15 Vs. F-18 would pretty much come down to pilots, weapons and tactics, I.M.O! You know they say the same thing about the F-15 Vs. the F-22. Give the 15's a weapon to detect the 22's and goodnight mother!

  • Holy crap... That is REALLY wicked. I'd honestly like to see more...

  • lol nice vid

  • This video was totally biased against the Major. Her character should have been explored much deeper.

  • AWESOME!!!!

  • Cool~ I love these, good job!

  • whats the song used during the first part of the video?

  • It's Tone loc - Wild thing

  • haha! would love to make something like that. You're really lucky the museum let you use the cockpit! i cant even get permission to use a field for the day... grumpy farmers...

  • "Hey! Someone call for an asskicking?" best line ;)

  • Hey, for 1999 that dosen't look too bad

  • NICE! cool action, great soundtrack and editing. I sure wish I had the software to create something like this! Then again I spend too much time on the computer just using the simple stuff I do have!

May the G-force be with you! lol

  • what is the second song?

  • for such an old stuff it`s rly good.

I just wonder where U guys did get that cool looking detailed explosion?

  • reminds me a bit of hot shots

  • MISSILES?!

Heh, I enjoyed this. Good work you guys.

  • This was mad funny, 199. not bad, much cudos.

  • realy cool i love it xD

  • Made back in 1999,incredible !

  • This was made on a 400mhz P2? Wtf??

    Big-up whoever made this...

  • Is 20mm vulcan enough to shoot down UFOs? :P

  • Hell yeah it is! Didn't you watch "Independence Day"?

  • lol matrix screen saver

  • pero que??

  • Yeah, the F/A-18 is still one of the ebst aircraft around. Good use of the TIE Fighter engine noise on those Dralthi. Are those Shadowcats or Mad Dogs on the bridge? They sort of look like a cross between them. One of them looks like a Thor.

  • the enemy fighters that is

  • aren't those dralthi from wing commander not mechs

  • kick ass mother uper. good scripting nice animation the matrix thing at the end was lamo but other then that good old futuristic ass kicking action

  • now that was awsome

  • Eh, good effort but I am tired of bs stories of 20th century technology prevailing over far more advanced technology. Especially with the degree you portrayed it it basically turned what could of been a good clip into garbage imo.

  • dude.. 5/5

  • That was amazing, script was funny too

  • I thought it was awsome!

  • wow 5/5

  • that's what I cool the good stuff.

  • god bless those with too much time:D good job guys

  • the part were the guy is layin on the ground shooten the robot then it blows up you took that from saving private ryan.

  • 31 st century vs 20 century technology ?

its like a m1 abrams vs a caveman with a club.

  • this is awesome. especially with using the software in 1999

  • It was added 2007. :/

Specular maps would be nice, not to mention adding Ambient Occlusion...

    Explosions were bad.

And yeah, why use F18 3D model if you have an F-14 cockpit :D. F14 looks much better.

  • Did you miss the part about it being made in 1999 on a PII400MHZ?

Explosions are fine actually. While you're definitely entitled to your opinion, it's wrong :D.

  • Oh, sorry I did miss that.

And I agree in 1999 it was a fine pice of work.

Commertial 3D didn't look that much better back then.

  • Hi, I'm doing a project for a game and was wondering how you did the radio sound effect for the voices. I'm currently recording the voice clean, then equalizing and amplifying it and it sounds pretty good, but not as "realistic" as your sound. I guess you used actual walkie-talkies?

  • We actually used a standard airplane headset with an adapter to 1/8th in. stereo plug and recorded directly into the computer.

  • In fact, the only digitally processed radio voice in the video (which isn't in this cut of now that I look at it again) sounded so different (even after a LOT of processing) that it stands out like a sore thumb.

  • @Fox622003 For the time (1999), and equipment, this is absolutely great... this isnt a Spielberg $400M movie to be criticizing ... great job guys

  • cool

  • That was really, really good! Awesome work.

  • ok the meechs had shadow cat cockpitd on the body of a maddog/vulture... the cockpit is where the "nose" is on the maddog

  • Funny. But with good gfx and how the hjell did you do that hud?! =´(

  • Dude I hope you guys went pro animator! This is great for joking around... in 1999!

  • that is brilliant and the best thing it was made in 1999 do you have the entire video uploaded.

  • im just hoping that mech design wasnt your idea of what the ShadowCat from BattleTech is supposed to be. cuz the model was way wrong - along with weapons and ammo cartridge. but otherwise a very cool video

  • I wonder how many people read the description...

    This was made in 1998.

For an amateur film using cg, produced back in '98, it's fucking awesome. So stop whining about the animation quality. Even with rigs x * more powerful today, I doubt anyone whinging about the CG quality could produce anything half as good as this.

The similarity between the enemy fighters and BSG Cylon raiders is probably very much a coincidence. Considering BSG was released some 5 years later...

  • Correction, I read it as 1998, rather it's 1999. My bad, the points still stand tho

  • Wow, glad somebody caught that, I'm surprised at how rarely viewers pay any attention to the description ;). Took my buddy almost a year's worth of rendering over the weekend to put the whole video together.

  • nice video i thought it was sweet

  • Talk bout the most LMAO mini show ever made in mankind's history.

Battletech, battlestar Galactica, today's world. and Star Trek: The First contact in one big package.

  • HAHAHAHA! Love the cheasy lines!

    "Somebody order an ass kicking?"

    LOL!

  • king!!!!!!

  • fake but good

  • o rly? fake? why do you think that?

  • srgnt912: "fake but good"

Thanks for letting us know its fake, we all thought it was real...........

  • THis rocks!

Skrew BattleTech, give me the real deal any time!

  • KICK THAT CYLON ASS.

I never knew the Cylons had a piper in their HUD.

    Very Cool idea and execution.

  • haha those things at the beginning looked alot like the Raiders in Battlestar Galactica.

  • air cadet ?

  • great vid!

too bad for the gfx but still good vid :P

  • FUCKING-A !

  • Nice work!

    But a ShadowCat with 2 LRM15s?! ;)

  • thats fuckin awsome.

  • That was certainly impressive. Cheesy, a bit clichéd, but impressive. 4 stars.

  • WOW. That was a sick video. Do more of these. How long did it take you to make this?

  • holy crap! that was the best!

  • Haha, that was pretty damn good :D

  • Independence Day! Do you have images of the cockpit?

  • Nice workk :)

  • this is so amazing! and so original good job guys!

  • dude, thast was so fucking kick ass, that was awesome, I give you five gold stars, plus two!!!

  • Hell Yeal!!! You guys just did a great job!!!

  • LOL! Very entertaining! Good tunes too.

  • :O likes like star wars with Jets. First tie fighter vs x-wings, after the tunnel, and at last the big blowup! well I just want to say, NICE DONE!!!

  • This is Great! I can't even do this now. 5/5

  • holy fuck!

  • yea that shit was tight pretty good vid

  • pretty random....but awesome!

  • Gentlemen it was VERY well done! I wish I could do as well!!!

  • i fuckin dug it. the acting and some mech animation could use some polishing, but otherwise it was pretty phat

  • Good video, the only complaint is ripping off the Battletech Shadowcat (even down to the hexagonal shape of the arms/ppc). Of course I think Battlestar Galactica ripped the Cylon off of you guys if this was really done in 1999!

  • Not exactly hollywood stuff, but this is great work by you guys!

  • brilliant work!

  • this is what youtube is supposed to be about

  • damn tha tgood for 1999.. i wonder did yu guys get a lot of crashes using windows oh course?

  • Cool!

  • awesome job dude, you should've used the original Magic Carpet Ride though, it would make it funny though. You did a great job though, makes me want to have a 'Mech or an F14.

  • Nice!

  • very cool

  • AWESOME. :]

  • Loved it!

  • is realy awesome!!! O.o

  • well actualy shoot your missiles guy if your up close like they are its too risky to use missiles so you go with guns and dog fighting is the basis of all air combat why would they teach it if you just shoot of all your missiles

  • cool

  • dog fighting has nothing to do with reality.

every respectable fighter pilot will try to shoot his missiles at the longest distance and the get out a there

  • Haha, this is pretty good!

  • o shit dis is epic

  • the music goes really well with it oo XD

  • omfg i love this vid its fuking awesome!!!

  • love it :D

  • This is pretty damned good for 1999 and just for "fun"

  • DO A BARREL ROLL!

  • Cheezy is the word, but pretty impressive.

  • id like to point out this was made in 1999.

    its better than Independence day

  • independence day was made in 1996

  • wow and i mean wow awsome vid watched it twice, doesnt bore. Its really great animated stuff.

id love to see some more mech/terminator animated vids from your group

  • MISSILES! haha i like it

  • thats awesome, this is what YouTube is supposed to be about

    film making

not viral marketing and people bitching about there crappy lives.

  • the lighting is a bit weird... but still, good job

  • Hah, this is pretty bootleg. I like it though, good job

  • Best .... Musit ... Ever.

  • Listen not to the haters. For '99 that is really good.

  • MISSLES?!

  • MISSILES??!

  • WOO LORD GET HIM OFF ME

  • VERY nice, including my two favorite things, F/A-18 Super Hornets and 'Mechs!

  • guys what the hell is this GREAT STUFF?! please inform me!

  • bad green screen. not good at all

  • Yeah, for 99, that is a pretty awesome video. Even for today it is..

To be that good at making a short clip, I'd sure hope you are using that talent in the real world.

  • "what, you don't like that?" Great line!!! Very well done

  • AWESOME VID, btw did u get 6:04 from Saving Private Ryan?

  • yo that was pretty sweet

  • Thanks for all the comments, I'm the guy that did the most of the CG work back in '99. It was fun as hell to make, and we're considering doing some more stuff based on the positive feedback we've had.

  • pretty good for '99

  • That IS the coolest not-for-profit CG video I have ever seen. Have you guys taken classes or something? The camera movements, the explosions, the debris, the green screen... pure awesome! And all on a PII 400mhz!

  • thats cool cg video man.

  • Some ones been borrowing sound effects from Falcon 4.0 :D

  • That was awesome dude. The actors were a bit too gungho...but the actual dogfights were awesome. Good job dude.

  • FAN-TAS-TIC! Excellent work. So much fun to watch. It looks like you guys had a great time putting this together. Would love to see more. Congratulations!

  • Wow... that... KICKED ASS !!!... n I'm not talking about those skinny ass... but BIG HEAVY ASS !!!

BOOO YEAHHH !!! Michael Bay would be proud.

  • Oh my dear gods. This has to be one of the best projects I have seen, not to mention you did it back in 99 on what would be considered a POS system today. Damn man I laughed and I was amazed. I am definately favoriting this one, fantastic job!

  • Joker this kicks ass! Awesome job man.

  • Wow, that is the coolest amateur CG video I've ever seen. Good work! When will you make a new one?

  • We've been crazy busy with military life, but hoping to do something worthy of a sequel or spinoff from the story line ;)

  • The fighters kinda remind me of the Kilrathi from Wing Commander.

  • just awesome...

  • Total pwnage! Awesome stuff dude! Post the whole video if you can.
