  • I've probably watched this clip 25-30 times over the last five years and it's one of my favorite clips on youtube. Saw it live and it still sends chills down my spine.

  • The crowd is quite. Well said. The Flyers are overdue.

  • I remember exactly where I was when this goal was scored...one of the better playoff series that I've seen.

The NHL seriously has the best playoffs of any sport

  • fuck, this should have been our year.

    go flyers.

  • Probably JJ's best call.

  • BULLSHIT!!!

  • The end of an era for so many. Last game that Roberts and Reichel played for Toronto. Last career playoff game for Mogilny, Domi, and HoFers Leetch, Nieuwendyk, and Belfour. HoFer Ron Francis could not play in Game 6 and retired in offseason. Kaberle would win Cup with Boston in 2011.

  • 1:06 LOL

  • Have the Leafs been good since?

  • @MiamiMike215 lol

  • i wish all the nhl games where this intense.. its changed so much

  • wow both teams rocked

  • Flyers hockey. Keeping the leafs out of the playoffs since 2004

  • I love how the crowd goes totally silent.

  • i watch this video twice a day lol jkjk.. but damn this is hardcore just hardcore hockey

  • The Leafs were 4th in the league that season. Total Stanley Cup favourites.

  • ITS A FUCKING EAR RAPE EVERY TIME THE LEAFS COMES CLOSE TO SCORE OMG

  • "this is a tremendous set back for the leafs franchise"

    he was right

  • holy shit i have never seen that kapanen hunter hit before... he absolutely bone crushed him. you would never see a hit like that now adays because it would be a "blind side hit to the head" fucking bs type of shit. nhl sucks now. hitting will be out of the game in 10 years and women will be in. gay.

  • man that place was on fire hahah

  • What a great sequence.....non stop action....intense crowd....THUNDEROUS hit....... great goal to win a playoff series. I actually miss the days of the Leafs being good and making the playoffs. That was a fun rivalry.

  • Great game. Fuck Tucker.

  • It's a testament to this game that's as a leafs fan I still have fond memories of it. Maybe it's because it's the last time the Leafs were in the playoffs (sigh).

I still think in terms of crazy leaf overtimes the Game 5 against Ottawa is better.

    Steve Thomas!

I don't think the Leafs could have won game 7 in Philly anyway.

  • @italiandom7221991 PHILLY!!!! i've been a Flyers fan since 1985(i was 9). born & raised in small town french Quebec & moved to the closest big city on my 18th birthday.... Montreal!!!! easily making the canadiens my most hated team. imagine the shit i've had to put up with lately.... the 3 most hated teams im montreal are the queefs, the bruins & us, but i sport my orange anyway, everyday. knock on wood, we're lookin good. keep in touch. FLYERS4EVER!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @italiandom7221991 u da man, dom. i don't hate calgary, but ever heard of the phlegms or the lames? those must've been invented by oilers fans. where r u from?

  • @italiandom7221991 BAAAHHHAAAHAHAHAAHHHAAAAHAHAHA!!!!! i like that one, thnx.

  • awesome man. the crowd was absolutley nuts even before the tucker hit but that place exploded im tellin ya. and a few good chances by domi , nieuwendyk, and sundin before it ended

  • Primeau was one of the first guys in the celebration pile, AND made it out somehow to go check on Kapanen. What a captain.

  • bring back tucker

  • Sundin is a class act right there

  • i was 11 when this happened and i remember waking up the whole house, this playoff run made me fall in love with the flyers

  • @agwideout19 similar experience for me but it was game 6 1987 finals vs. Edmonton that me fall in love with the Flyers

  • 1:09 WOW

  • these are the flyers that made me a flyers fan. guys like JR primeau kappy leclair amonte recchi gagne. GO FLYERS

  • @cdnflyer7 And today, not a single one is left.

  • fhe leafs went into the shitter after this series...the downfall started here!

  • Leetch got caught there, but McCabe did not play that 2-on-1 well. He's got to cheat to his left a little instead of allowing Roenick to get such a great angle.

  • If Sami didn't get up like a man and go to the bench, then this play would have never happened. What a champ.

  • "tremendous setback for this leafs franchise" - biggest understatement of the decade.

  • 2:10, hilarious line

  • the crowd is QUIET

  • This is playoffs hockey.

Notice how the Leafs dominated this OT but all it took was one bad pinch that led to Roenick scoring.

  • that and you cant forget that the flyers are awesome. much better then the leafs. well maybe not this year but most years past haha

  • Lol, yes which is why I will always hate the Flyers.

And this year the Flyers have way more talent on their team than the Leafs. Flyers just arent performing like they should but they will make the playoffs.

  • @Stevenio the flyers, & their fans, hate you right back. is it the maple laffs or maple feafs?

  • @Stevenio the leafs dominated the entire game..the bad play of ed belfour lost them this game.. i watched the entire game the other day its on the flyers 40th aniversary dvd set..somik n roenick scored on like the only chances the flyers had while the leafs dominated attack time the whole game just like they did in overtime..it was a crazy game.

"and the crowd is quiet as the flyers get a victory"- 1:58

  • you mean 2 bad pinches idiot.

  • also goes to show if you push your defense up too high, which the leafs did, you will get odd man attacks on ur own end. dominated....more like owned.

  • this was a good night in my life

  • :'(

  • Leetch with a bad pinch led to that 2 on 1. He didn't make too many mistakes in his career but that one hurt.

  • Then Flyers take Tampa to game 7 and lose in OT. They could of beat Calgary in the finals too...fuck.

  • I remember absolutely shitting bricks that night watching the Leafs dominate in overtime. Such a relief when Roenick scored, although I wished it would have been Recchi who had the same exact play a mere 15 seconds before.

  • wow...best 5 minutes of hockey

  • One of the best moments I've had as a Flyers fan!

  • this is playoff hockey at its absolute finest

  • I remember watching this.

  • recently rediscovered this clip after roenick announce retirement...this was one unbelievable playoff run. but the best part of this clip is how tired jim jackson is by the time roenick scores. he hardly has any voice left in him. love it.

  • Thank you JR

  • BIG HIT!! man was this an exciting game.

  • i was in to and couldn't watch the game due to school. I didn't even need to be told the score to know what happened because the city turned so quiet. And they have not returned to the playoffs since

  • i remember those days, leafs were loaded

    1) sundin, roberts and mogilny

    2) ponikarovsky, antropov, newendyk

    3) corson, tucker, domi

....and now....well those were the days

  • lol,

If "Those were the days", how much does that say about the Leafs?

    Gotta love Laughs fans.

  • How old are you? Grow up. Be a fan of hockey and shut up.

  • your an idoit

  • and nolan kaberle mccabe lol

  • I love my leafs, but Philly had a dominating lineup of size and skill that year. Leafs just a bit too soft.

  • "The crowd.... Is Quiet."

  • God, this 2003-04 season was a great run. This team was so solid, Esche was so hot. It was so awesome.

  • It was unreal... This season was amazing!!

  • Anyone who doesn't like hockey needs to watch this video and i guarantee that this will change their minds

    GO FLYERS

  • wow two 2on1 breaks in like 30 secs...... typical leafs

  • we had the best team in the nhl that year pound for pound up and down the roster.got screwed by the lightning tho

  • argueably the most exciting segment in a hockey game ever.great moment, great call tommy jackson

  • that would be...ummm...JIM jackson lol

  • the 03-04 playoff season was friggin awesome. too bad we couldnt win the cup. and jj is a great play by play guy, right up there with doc emrick and gary thorne

  • lol listen to jj when he scored

  • prolly the most entertaining 2 minutes of hockey i ever seen

  • blame brian leetch

  • Damn, can you imagine what the crowd would have been like if the leafs had scored?

  • indeed :-)

  • it's not MLSE, buddy. you think they care? it's a money making engine. do you think they care when they're also racking in huge money from the Raptors, Toronto FC and of course, the Marlies? but, at long last, we got rid of complete idiots like Paul Maurice and John Ferguson Jr., and now have a great coach and an absolutely great GM who, unlike many others, cares about our fans and about winning.

  • pure heartbreak

  • if it wasnt for kapinen, J.R wouldnt have scored

  • this was an awesome series. not a leafs fan but i wanna see them back in the playoffs

  • I remember watching this live. I was absolutely heart broken. Can you believe this was the last game we played in the playoffs to date?

  • ya yo

  • Wow this was probably the best sequence of playoff hockey I've ever seen and I'm a leaf fan

  • yep, im a flyers fan and this was just incredible, if you arent on the edge of your seats no matter who you root for your cazy

  • this was the best game i evr watched as aflyers fan i must say bravo leafs fofr a great series you just ran into a primeau train

  • lol you said it! Primeau train... he was unstoppable.

  • The crowd is quiet... Great call dorny

  • 1:12 holy fuck

  • I hate seeing JRs goal brings back horrible memories. He got two chances and made a perfect shot on his second try.

  • Leafs lost because of sundin he hugged the puck

  • if i had to convince a NON-hockey fan to be a hockey fan i would tell them to watch this video...WOW!!!

  • Well said , not a fan of either team , but this was fantastic hockey!!! PS GOTTA LOVE JR!

  • its too bad this goal ruined the leafs franchise because i miss the exciting playoff games against the leafs

  • yeah but uh...we won

  • i hate darcy tucker but omg what a hit...search this hit in a different clip besides this one and if u pause it at the right time u can c he left his feet and it should of been boarding

  • i know it doesnt matter at this point but if only sundin dumped it in deep instead of trying to get past the two defenders maybe we wouldnt have had to give up the second 2-on-1 chance...

  • one of the most exciting segments of hockey ever.

  • Agreed. Definitely one of the best end to end segments ever in the NHL. Huge props to Kapanen for getting his ass off the ice so the play could continue. And I am NOT A FLYERS FAN.

But I am a hockey fan and this was one of the best I've ever seen...

  • this was one of the most heartwrenching games ever haha. i remember watching it convinced that the leafs were going to win it and just being sooooo happy when roenick scored. some of the best end to end hockey in recent memory.

  • The Lightning series was probably the best I've ever seen...Primeau left his heart and soul on the ice in those 7 games. It's a damn shame they didn't win, and how Primeau's career ended prematurely.

  • i am still missing desjardins and primeau :(

  • absolutely, best in my lifetime at least, it was a shame, but it was great hockey, game 6 of that series was unreal too... brings tears to my eyes to watch primeau tie that game up

  • he went to Russia, or Czech Rep., one or the other.... Best 6 minutes of hockey I ever watched.

  • ballackstyle, the whole season where your team finished dead last and we swept you that season was the best time of my life, and I live in Philadelphia to rub it all back in their faces. You won't believe the shit I had to put up with all the year before from your side. I didn't start it either.

  • what happened to Robert Esche all of a sudden?

  • man robert esche just..disappeared lol

  • And know one can really appreciate what kapanen did. got back to his feet, sent out the new line and continued the play of the game with back and forth and back again rushes with roenick scoring. Unbelievable. Can't wait til the season starts in 2 weeks.

  • 3:40 - "This is a tremendous set-back for the Leafs Franchise..." Nice.

  • all i have to say is fuck the leafs and lmao @ mcCabe's defense.....

  • It sure did. But not as loud as the silence echoed after JR won the series.

  • Gives me chills, everytime.

  • Can't say enough about Kapanen. The crowd noise is intense in Toronto, I can't imagine seeing a game there or Montreal. Loved JR as a Flyer. You also see how valuable Primeau was as a Captain. That guy is Phily's version of Cam Neely...I can't imagine if he was still on this team along with Hatcher and all of these new guys they have.

  • If this wasn't Tucker's biggest cheap shot, check the knee on knee hit he gave Michael Peca the year before. At least McCabe wasn't a -5 in this game like he was in game 5

  • tucker laid the biggest cheep shot ever on kapinen

  • best two minutes of hockey, EVER. i remember watching this and the range of emotions was so huge, thankfully it ended well for the flyers

  • i hate both of these teams, but that was an incredible game. kapanen was huge, just amazing.

  • agreed!, cant stand maple leafs fans, nothing personal but every year they think they have a god given right to go to the cup just cause they are from Canada. Im not knocking the country, or the team, or the fans but its annoying.

  • GO FLYERS !!! ROUND 2

  • leafs deserved to win that game. way more pressure by the leafs and way more heart. tucks crushed that bitch

  • that was REALLY intense.

  • one of the best games ive ever watched

  • the crowd is quiet lol dorny is so awesome =) lol

  • one of the best playoffs in a long time

  • 1. WTF was Brian Leetch doing?

    2. McCabe still doesn't know how to play a 2 on 1.

    3. That Tucker hit was amazing.

    4. Although the Leafs lost, this still was one of the best playoffs series I ever watched.

  • that was a great playoff series. i dont know how the leafs didnt score there you had soo many opportunitys and the momentum. unfortunatly my flyers lost the next series vs the leafs.

  • i meant lightening aha

  • Two things that pissed me off.

    1) Bryan Leetch caught pinching once again. (see Canada vs USA in Salt Lake too)

    2) How the Leafs allowed Two 2 on 1's in OT.

Pat Quinn was out-coached in this one IMHO...

  • its playoff overtime hockey. its like everything. sloppy aggresive cautious. And thats why i love overtime playoff hockey

  • gotta love how the crowd was in a frenzy and they just died inside when the goal was scored

  • This was so painful. I really thought the Leafs would be able to win this one and take the series.

  • that is awesome hockey right there. i dont know how jim jackson kept his breath

  • Leafs blew this series big time...lost a couple of games early on that they should've won and the Flyers made them pay...It's sad, but this was the last time the Leafs were in the playoffs and may not be back there for a while...JR has always been a Leaf-killer; always wanted to see him in blue & white....

  • well he is in Blue and White now - just the wrong color blue and the wrong team lol

  • I miss the good old days of having the luxury of hating Tie Domi.... guys like him were so good at pissing fans off. Now, the "new, improved" NHL kinda threw those guys out the window.... Shame, they made for some great rivalries.

  • Wow Roenick gets the series winner twice...first he kills mogilny by slashing him in the face...then he gets the next series winner with an overtime goal.

    Roenick and Yzerman...classy guys

  • great series, great playoff run for the flyers. cup should have been ours that year.

  • and toronto sports are?

  • My god I will not forget this. Crazy OT don't know how the lEafs didn't win. Sad thing is, I seriousley wonder the next time the Leafs are in a situation like this again.... maybe 2-3 years. Jeez, intense, damn you JR.

  • This is one of the most entertaining OT's in NHL History - JJ is awesome, That hit was awesome, Kapanen showing the courage to get back to the bench was awesome, Roenick's shot was awesome.. and still in end, you get the handshake.. pure awesome, as if I hadnt said that word enough :P Awesome clip :)

  • jim jackson is the best play by play commentator in hockey

  • ahaha that hit by Tucker was CRAZY!!!!!! SWEEEEEEEEEEEET!!! GO LEAFS!!!

  • your just a plain asshole

  • whatever bro. this conversation didnt include you.

  • i meant pizzeisyummy86 is an asshole, im from philly so im with you

  • and have fun sucking cock out in gay seattle

  • you're absolutely right. i'm from west philly. you stupid fuck. go back into your igloo.

  • Yeah I'm sure you think Canada's coldest month is July right?

  • what the fuck has toronto done eh? go eat a dick you canadian prick.

  • that's right baby! toronto sucks! all you leaf fans getting your friggen hopes up and then the FLYBOYS beat your asses and steal your hearts.

  • I actually almost cried just watching it right now

  • I was at this game...I was sitting up in the greens and I remember EVERYONE was on their feet the whole time, the crowd was going insane, and Tucker comes up with that huge hit, I thought the place might explode-the railings in front of the seats were shaking! and then Leafs head up the ice, Sundin gets high sticked right in the face (1:49), n he was bleeding, then Roenick up ice, scores, dead silence

  • wow i'm a leafs fan but i have a lot of respect for kapenen trying to get off the ice.. he could have stayed down and let his team play short but he got up. that shows a lot of heart. it was a MONSTER hit though, damn tucker filled him in haha

  • Without question it was a great series. No sport compares to sudden death playoff hockey. Certainly not boring NFL (7-8 minutes of actual ball in play)...overrated

  • this was one of the best playoff games i've ever watched. mere seconds after sami kapanen nearly gets beheaded by that punk darcy tucker, JR wins it for the flyers. oh i had goosebumps that night. i miss the old NHL!

  • this was an AMAZING series...as were the other Flyer/Leafs series' in recent memory.

  • I love Jim Jackson. I had to listen to this OT in my car and almost drive off the road a few times LOL Absolutely heartstopping!!

  • Favorite Flyers goal EVER!Announcers Jim Jackson and Gary Dornhoefer are amazing too.

  • LEAFS FANS= BEST IN THE WORLD!

  • GO LEAFS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'll never forget this game. I was watching it on a tiny hopital TV just hours after my son was born.

  • wow wat a playoff run for the flyers... i still give a lot credit to the leafs great series and great hockey between those two teams

  • "And the crowd...is quiet..."

Nothing better than a dead-silent Air Canada Centre.. of course course.. that's pretty normal from April->October!

  • What a great great game (and series) this was LEAFS were down 2-0 in the third I belive Mats scored two goals to tie it. The Leafs always go out in style. I was disapponited in the end but you gotta give the Flyers credit

  • that is some great hockey right there, two storied teams duking it out
