Stevie added just the right touch to this, Ralph is really incredible, there are these small amount of views, only because there are a lot of different postings of this song!! Just waiting for him to come to Atlanta!!
I could swear someone else did this, or am I imagining things. Didn't Marvin Gaye do a version of this? And if Saddiq doesn't sound just like him. Damn!
This is just ONE of my favorite songs off this album. I MISS MY CD! I left it home, and I'm at school now, but that's ok, because it will be on rotation when I return!
Truly another example how the best of the industry is suppressed and the garbage is pushed to the front. This brother has been putting out excellent hits eversince he has been in the game. Tony, Toni, Tone, Luci Pearl, by himself. He is a example of top notch Black Artistry & Musicianship. LONG,LIVE, SAADIQ
your a perfect example of when things come free we don't truly appreciate them at all! I will learn from your mistake and ignorance! Thank you for the lesson of what not to do!
ps Real cool ppl don't have to tell others there cool, so you clearly are not that cool! Keep listenen to Raphael his musik will help with that category! lol God Bless friend!
I don't think the singer is imitating Marvin Gaye but more that he sings like Marvin Gaye. As for as his singing voice, I think the singer sounds like Lionel Richie. Which combined means this singer has a wonderfully unique sound. Does anyone know who the lead vocalist is? Raphael Saadiq has a great talent for bringing the best out of artists--what he did with T Boz on Instant Vintage was amazing...love him & this song!! I met him at a club in Oakland in Dec. too & he was very nice and gracious.
Raphael keep doing what you are doing with your music. It takes me back when I was teenager back in the 70's and music made you feel good. Keep teaching them by playing good music.
i think its a good thing that he is paying tribute. thats how i see it... i don't see anything wrong with going back to the some of the roots of soul, r/b... there are to many youngens out there that don't know anything about it... thats a shame.
yall sure if someone else came out and tried to follow his lead and make good music again like this..that yall wont go off and say "he is trying to be like so and so"..???? lol i hate that america does that.
I know that sounds funny but close your eyes and think and say "if theres something strange, in your neighborhood, who you gone call?" and then listen to this song I PROMISE it sounds JUST like him....lol
do a search for "Rafael" Saadiq and see a BOMB live performace of 100 Yard Dash. It rocks. The person who posted misspelled his name, but the video is all that.
his new album is gonna b so vintage ol school!! this is yet another example (how short the song is) not too much and damn sho not too little just like back then when the songs were about 2 minutes long lol! cant wait
Of all his new cuts drop'n right now, I like this one the best. It's hot, short, leaves you wanting more. It's catchy and vibes like a sound track to classic motion picture - I can hear that hook through the entire flick.
I need to amend this message. I take my laptop in the kitchen in the a.m. and play all Saadiq's new "The Way I See It" cuts while brewing my joe and love them all equally. This CD is about to be on fire. CAN'T WAIT!
you begin your day; the star of your own movie, with Mr. Saadiq providing the soundtrack and this song providing the intro to the movie. Roll Credits!
Damn, I can't wait for this CD to drop. Looks like it's going to be a fall thang. Leafs turning, football season, mild chill in the air with some new Saadiq old school sound. gets no better!
Played this one for the wife this morning. She's as amazed as me by Raphael Saadiq and his ability to effortlessly produce a sound so authentic and chill. This music just puts you in a good mood. HSGOODY, Saadiq playing Stevie would be OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!!!
Saadiq did it again! I love the fact that Stevie is in this. The sound is so authentic, soulful, old school, motown ... I think the story of Stevie's life should start production ASAP with Saadiq as the star singing all of Stevie's music. That story would do 10 times what Ray did for J. Foxx
This is an awesome song. Raphael is so talented! This man is a true musical inspiration, he has a love of music that transcends to the core of "soul music". He has collaborated with so many talented people and the end product is always fresh and new. I love this man! I can't wait to buy this one.
