@shum65 ah ah ah you speak portuguese! "Viva" is a portuguese word... Et alors? Tu vas me dire tout de suite que tu parles français? ah ah ah ;) Kisses from Portugal
Most cocteaus I think of as blissful music to drift along to on a summers breeze but this whole album is NIGHT music: dark and even a bit scary! It's like listening to 2 different bands. And they are both fuckin ace!! Belated merry xmas to you Shum, you have posted some excellent stuff
Grail overfloweth was always one of my top favorite cocteau twins songs. It's too bad there are so many people with terrible taste. And it's only gotten worse over the years I think.
Yep, many fond memories with the Garlands album for sure.
Great work shum - my fave from this albulm, see you have captured clip from Field of the Nephilim's - Moonchild in the video. Do I win the goody bag with the flour and the Patchuly Oil then!? Ha! Aye, thems were the days! Thank you fella - this brings back great memories.
I like Simon dearly, he's a wonderful bassist/musician... but Will Heggie's bass on Garlands just made the record absolutely genius!!! I wonder if Will is still playing with "Lowlife?" Lowlife sounds kind of like Cocteau Twins, but with a Michael Stipe voice... kinda weird, yet it works.
You've done a great job at capturing their eerieR sound onto a visual moving image- a worth while achivement considering this band is handsdown AMAZING.
I've developed a whole new appreciation for this album (which was already one of my Cocteau favorites, but just not on my turntable lately), over the course of the past weeks with these vids of yours, shum 65. Thanx! from Bob in Philadelphia
I agree with bobby777 on this one although garlands was never my favourite cocteaus album your vids have made me see it in a new light, cheers for that mate. It's got a totally different feel to all their other albums (mostly due to Heggie's bass style) and is now my most played CT album.
i was thinking that the only thing missing from the Cocteaurepertoire
was a good old fashioned suicide song but then i stumbled across
'the grail' again. this had me soon swooning in sonambulic swallow
dives as i searched for the grave[sleep's elusive fifth hour]
posypity 1 month ago
@posypity Lol a suicide song, it sure is gloomy but
in a spectacular way, hope you didnt find a grave lol :)

@shum65 no, but i did find my name on the new noughties cd's
of Garlands and Treasure. i'm liking your comments too, a lot.
i guess you're the only one who has to write more often than i do
ha ha. i search for the grave when i see my comments the next day'
the only goosebumps i ever get are ones of embarrassment.

@posypity Hi there, thats cool finding your name on
the re-released Garlands & Treasure Cds lol fame !!
Never be embarrassed by your comments my friend.
they show your passion for the CTs music X ;-))

@shum65 look on Head over Heels [you'll see it real clear]
i sent them stuff in 93 then i found my name banged over these
c.ds. your vids really suit the early stuff best. loved the bits best
of the girl with red hair.[hope i'm not taking up too much space
on this page- its beginning to look like a play]'
posypity 3 weeks ago
@posypity Lol, I had lots of fun doing those early vids, glad you
like em to, what was it you sent to the band back in 93 my friend :)
shum65 3 weeks ago
@shum65 it was my first book of story/poetry/visuals for
dance vision called Gahlia[in rainbow colours] which i
wrote after meditating on their music. running order was
my tr, iceb, lazc, an da, wmwm, blbrd, oil of, fluf, fiv, t t t a,
song t, feet, esse, mizm, how to.
posypity 3 weeks ago
@posypity Sounds amazing my friend, hope you can somehow upload
extracts maybe from your writings, maybe you could set them to music?
Thanks for your comments as always :-))

I love Cocteau Twins, especially the early years
And this song is maybe my favourite from CT...makes me chicken skin when listening, really hypnotizing and psychedelic and I love it ;)

iamBizarreMonster 7 months ago
@iamBizarreMonster Hi there, usually its classed as post punk, guess its whatever you want.
Alternative,Indie, Dark wave,as long as you enjoy it,thats all that matters my friend, they did use a
drum machine for many years in the early days, great to hear from you iamBizarreMonster. :)
shum65 7 months ago
@iamBizarreMonster It also sometimes gets lumped into the shoegazer movement.

Hi mate, your right, the Cocteau's laid the
path for many bands to follow later on....
Its a great shame they never got the real
recognition that they truly deserved....
At least us the fans acknowledged it....!!!
Thanks my friend....

Hi mate, glad your enjoying the early stuff
by the Cocteau's,when Will Heggie was still with them playing bass...All the songs
on Garlands would have been recorded
through 1981/82, the album was released
back in 1982...and still my fave by them..
Hey my friend, keep on enjoying the music.
Its great to hear from ya.....!!

Hi Skincat...your so right, the Garlands LP
stands out from their other albums, for all
those qualities you mention, its so dark,
and menacing sounding.....then theirs the
"Milk and Kisses" era, filled with heavenly
music and vocals.....both classics,and all
the journeys in between are adventures of
your mind and soul....so Classy.....!!!!
Many thanx for your top comments mate..

Because these videos are both a valid form of expression and a way to reintroduce Cocteau Twins to new generations...
I HEREBY PROTEST AGAINST THE ACTION TAKEN BY "TIME WARNER", WHICH IS LIMITING CREATIVE EXPRESSION IN PEOPLE.

introduce people to a band, and their music!
Or just like you said,to re-visit an album
that you've not listened to for a while!!.
