  • i was thinking that the only thing missing from the Cocteaurepertoire

was a good old fashioned suicide song but then i stumbled across

'the grail' again. this had me soon swooning in sonambulic swallow

dives as i searched for the grave[sleep's elusive fifth hour]

  • @posypity Lol a suicide song, it sure is gloomy but

in a spectacular way, hope you didnt find a grave lol :)

  • @shum65 no, but i did find my name on the new noughties cd's

of Garlands and Treasure. i'm liking your comments too, a lot.

i guess you're the only one who has to write more often than i do

ha ha. i search for the grave when i see my comments the next day'

the only goosebumps i ever get are ones of embarrassment.

  • @posypity Hi there, thats cool finding your name on

the re-released Garlands & Treasure Cds lol fame !!

Never be embarrassed by your comments my friend.

they show your passion for the CTs music X ;-))

  • @shum65 look on Head over Heels [you'll see it real clear]

i sent them stuff in 93 then i found my name banged over these

c.ds. your vids really suit the early stuff best. loved the bits best

of the girl with red hair.[hope i'm not taking up too much space

on this page- its beginning to look like a play]'

  • @posypity Lol, I had lots of fun doing those early vids, glad you

like em to, what was it you sent to the band back in 93 my friend :)

  • @shum65 it was my first book of story/poetry/visuals for

dance vision called Gahlia[in rainbow colours] which i

wrote after meditating on their music. running order was

my tr, iceb, lazc, an da, wmwm, blbrd, oil of, fluf, fiv, t t t a,

song t, feet, esse, mizm, how to.

  • @posypity Sounds amazing my friend, hope you can somehow upload

extracts maybe from your writings, maybe you could set them to music?

Thanks for your comments as always :-))

  • I love Cocteau Twins, especially the early years

And this song is maybe my favourite from CT...makes me chicken skin when listening, really hypnotizing and psychedelic and I love it ;)

  • @janvys Hi there, classic for sure my friend, I really like all their earlier and

darker music, its all really atmospheric, glad you enjoyed it to janvys..!!! :)

  • I love it. What genre is this and is this somehow connected to Electronic?

  • @iamBizarreMonster Hi there, usually its classed as post punk, guess its whatever you want.

Alternative,Indie, Dark wave,as long as you enjoy it,thats all that matters my friend, they did use a

drum machine for many years in the early days, great to hear from you iamBizarreMonster. :)

  • @iamBizarreMonster It also sometimes gets lumped into the shoegazer movement.

  • The darkest album in history of Cocteau Twins. Pure beauty.

  • @Czarnoksieznikk It sure is my friend, just luv it.....cheers 2 Will Heggie..!!!!

  • I cannot believe there is one dislike! Must be one of that guys from Time Warner! X-(

  • @solnegrolunaroja Ha-ha, you could be right my friend, guess you cant please everyone.... :))

  • love it!

garlands is my favourite ct album.

  • @Zerverrer Hi mate, Its my fave too by the band, its so dark and atmospheric.

Lizs vocals and the guys guitars are so iconic throughout this album.......!!!

  • The Twins laid the path for the likes of Will Haven

  • Hi mate, your right, the Cocteau's laid the

path for many bands to follow later on....

Its a great shame they never got the real

    recognition that they truly deserved....

At least us the fans acknowledged it....!!!

    Thanks my friend....

  • @shum65 hey they got the Q award,,, very well deserved.. they got a great reception

  • @Thegreenroomgroup Hi there, they sure did get the Q award,

They totally deserved it, but it should have been one of many...

Thats really great they received a big reception, its so good all their

amazing original music has been remembered my friend.

Great hearing from you, enjoy your weekend.....!! :-)

  • whoa, i love the twins and will haven but i never put that comparison together until hearing this garlands stuff again. this is totally pre-haven!

  • Hi mate, glad your enjoying the early stuff

by the Cocteau's,when Will Heggie was still with them playing bass...All the songs

on Garlands would have been recorded

through 1981/82, the album was released

back in 1982...and still my fave by them..

Hey my friend, keep on enjoying the music.

Its great to hear from ya.....!!

  • Most cocteaus I think of as blissful music to drift along to on a summers breeze but this whole album is NIGHT music: dark and even a bit scary! It's like listening to 2 different bands. And they are both fuckin ace!! Belated merry xmas to you Shum, you have posted some excellent stuff

  • Hi Skincat...your so right, the Garlands LP

stands out from their other albums, for all

those qualities you mention, its so dark,

    and menacing sounding.....then theirs the

"Milk and Kisses" era, filled with heavenly

    music and vocals.....both classics,and all

the journeys in between are adventures of

    your mind and soul....so Classy.....!!!!

Many thanx for your top comments mate..

    All the Best for 2010.......!!!!!

  • Grail overfloweth was always one of my top favorite cocteau twins songs. It's too bad there are so many people with terrible taste. And it's only gotten worse over the years I think.

Yep, many fond memories with the Garlands album for sure.

  • Great choice mate, I luv all the "Garlands"

tracks...their so rich in depth and range..

    both vocally and musically.....

I remember back then when i first heard it

I thought, thats so dark and atmospheric...

and..wow..I like it...........!!!!! so different to.

Glad you to have top memories mate....

  • i love the screeching guitar. the sound fucks my brain.

  • Hi mate, yeah I know what ya mean....

its an amazing sound that guitar makes..

    What a top song....

    Cheers for that daisaigai7.....!!!

  • the bass its phenomenal

  • Hi mate..so agree..that bass is awesome

    through-out the "Garlands" album..

It really gives you that dark haunting feel,

    so menacing too...luv-it...!!

    Cheers LASA...

  • One of the top 5 albums in gothic music history without any doubt

  • Your a very wise person alvarocasmi..!!!

    Totally agree mate...Love the "Garlands"

album..its filled with everything you could

    ever want...and more...!!

    Cheers mate...

  • although gothic is too narrow a term and lumps it in with some pretty dire bands.....

  • Good point mate..the Cocteau's are in a

league they created, all on their own...!!

    Class for sure...!!!

  • Heavenly Dark!!

  • Perfect description karziflora..!!!

    I love it too....!!!!!!!!!

  • Im adding this to my favorites... : )

  • Hi mate,,its a classic track..!!

Glad you enjoyed it,checkout the rest of the Ace "Garlands" album too...!!

  • My favourite track from Garlands...probably!

  • Great choice mate....!!!

  • Because these videos are both a valid form of expression and a way to reintroduce Cocteau Twins to new generations...

I HEREBY PROTEST AGAINST THE ACTION TAKEN BY "TIME WARNER", WHICH IS LIMITING CREATIVE EXPRESSION IN PEOPLE.

  • Great work shum.. Oh I miss Liz so much...

  • Thanks mate!! Me too!!

Maybe one day they'll get back together!!

Garlands is "Overfloweth-ing!" with awesome -

    songs,music,singing,everything really!!

    Cheers smartin108!!

  • Great work shum - my fave from this albulm, see you have captured clip from Field of the Nephilim's - Moonchild in the video. Do I win the goody bag with the flour and the Patchuly Oil then!? Ha! Aye, thems were the days! Thank you fella - this brings back great memories.

  • Ah you have indeed excellent perception mate!!

If I could send it to ya,then you definitely

    win that goody bag!!

Them were the days indeed mate,I,m so pleased

that you enjoyed it,and it brought all those

    memories flooding back!!!

    Great comments selsmeister my friend!!

  • GREAT WORK again Shum!! Sorry for the delay, I have a lot of video to watch... Thank you for sharing your gems!

  • Your very welcome dear friend!!

I,m so pleased that you enjoyed this amazing-

    track!!

I,m afraid I just cant stop creating videos-

for this heavenly sent band! as you yourself-

    will understand!

    Thanks for your fab comments,CAROPASK!!!

  • I love this track AND your video(s). Don't stop Shum, you're a talented person...

  • Ah! thank you my friend! your very kind!!

    A great compliment indeed!!

    Much appreciated!!

  • Wonderful! Thank you!

  • Your very welcome my friend!!

    Great hearing from you,thanks!!

  • I like Simon dearly, he's a wonderful bassist/musician... but Will Heggie's bass on Garlands just made the record absolutely genius!!! I wonder if Will is still playing with "Lowlife?" Lowlife sounds kind of like Cocteau Twins, but with a Michael Stipe voice... kinda weird, yet it works.

  • Your right mate,That guitar just exploded-

throughout the album!! Genius is right!!

    Thanks for that!!

  • Simon is a genius musican, and liz is an angel-witch on that album..

  • I couldn't agree more my friend!!

    Thanks for your fab comments!!

  • Best song on the 'Garlands' album

  • Thanks mate! it is awesome, your right!!

  • This editing is a work of art. The images flow so well with the song...

    Congrat.

  • Great compliment menchulica!!!

Very much appreciate your comments,as always!!

    Thank-you,for that my friend!!!

  • uh...wow! >.>

You've done a great job at capturing their eerieR sound onto a visual moving image- a worth while achivement considering this band is handsdown AMAZING.

  • Thanks for that my friend!!!

Very much appreciated, really pleased you like

the video, I had great fun doing them!!

That's so true, the cocteaus are amazing!!!

  • I've developed a whole new appreciation for this album (which was already one of my Cocteau favorites, but just not on my turntable lately), over the course of the past weeks with these vids of yours, shum 65. Thanx! from Bob in Philadelphia

  • That's made my day mate!! thanks for that!!

The whole idea of doing videos,is to show or

introduce people to a band, and their music!

Or just like you said,to re-visit an album

that you've not listened to for a while!!.

  • I agree with bobby777 on this one although garlands was never my favourite cocteaus album your vids have made me see it in a new light, cheers for that mate. It's got a totally different feel to all their other albums (mostly due to Heggie's bass style) and is now my most played CT album.

    5 stars and favourited (again)

    cheers

  • Thanks so much sweatyballox for your top-

comments!!That means a great deal to me!!!!!

Your so right,Garlands has such a different

sound scape to the other cocteaus albums,

Its a very dark and brooding album.

  • GREAT great work shum65. You filmed this images and make all video?

  • Thanks mate!! glad you like it!!

    Yeah,I use a digi camera,and film everything,

    and everyone!

  • Are a VERY good work. I think Cocteau Twins like a lot your films, sure.

  • perfect images for this awesome piece of music, my friend!

  • Thanks for that mtedora!!! thats the last-

track on the brill "Garlands" LP!!!
