  • List of Metallica's rip off:

Welcome Home (Sanitarium) -- Bleak House: "Rainbow Warrior"

Enter Sandman – Excel: “Tapping into the Emotional Void”

    Four Horseman -- Megadeth: “Mechanix”

    And a lot more...

  • @nswrattlesnake It looks like they try to rip off bands that not a lot of people know about so they don't get caught....Except for Megadeth, they can't deny that.

  • the only reason metallica succeed is because their showmanship and rip off business. they are really poor in song writing actually. every day we'll discover another rip off. sorry to tallica fanboy.

  • All great artists have similar riffs.

Led zeppelin whole first album has many similar songs, some may say ripped off.

  • it's cool though because metallica is all about sharing their music

  • I can see why Metallica felt inspired by this. It's a beautiful tune

  • Man, and I had no respect for metallica before...

Don't say "oh this is a common riff", because Sanitarium is almost exactly the same as this shit.. Fuck metallica. That shitty band is an abomination now and needs to die.

  • @DanTheVikingr dude.. metallica is great. and so wat if they did. its a good song. both of them are. just shut the fuck up. ok? sanitarium and this are great. you are just a dickhead.

  • @thrasherlml It's not that they borrowed the bands chords. It's that they refuse to acknowledge the people they borrow from.

  • @bokkreviewing he says metallica is a shitty band and an abomination and needs to die. and james admitted that they lifted the riff from these guys.

  • Sanitarium is not a ripoff of this song from a band I never heard of!

  • @RRNYC1998 ohh so if YOU never heard of it then plagiarism ceases to exist, i gotcha

  • sanitarium is waaaaaaaaay better

  • Listen to "Down by the Sea" by the Strawbs. Bleak House did not conceive this chord progression.

  • First 3 chord progressions are almost the same... Except Metallica used a 4th note and a different tail to finish the riff.

  • I know everyone has a different tastes in music, but 4 dislikes? Geez...

  • I dont think Death has stolen riffs, but i know people steal from them alot...

  • I would love to hear metallica saying that those horrendous 90's shit like fuel, hero of the day,or the memory remains were lifted too.

  • try to name a band that hasn't "stole" a riff from another band

  • The opening riff doesn't sound exactly like 'Sanitarium' so... I wouldn't call it a rip. I'd call it more of an influence.

  • Metallica admitted they "lifted" this riff from these guys.

  • @ThePigster1234 omg they shuld make a book admitting all the riffs they ripped off :)

  • @ThePigster1234 Well, he admitted it was stolen from a band who shall remain nameless.

  • There is almost no such thing as completely original music. I remember Paul Simon saying an interview that he stole music from Bach, Beethoven, etc. Music is much more than a combination of notes anyway.

  • I wish metallica could start ripping off bands like this again, then we would have better music from them!!

  • Actually Metallica stated in an interview they stole the song

  • @MrCeater lol thnx for the info.

  • wow this is semi gay, unlike metallica that rocks.

  • @oldstate37 Philistine.

  • This seriously pisses me off. Before people accuse Metallica of stealing this main riff, listen to "Down By The Sea" by Strawbs. Rainbow Warriors' intro is exactly the same as that song, and Strawbs wrote their song in 1973. Bleak House stole this intro riff hardcore

  • this honestly does not sound much like sanitarium.

  • lol LAR$ even stole the drums off ov dark angel - dark angel and used them on the song ONE

  • Comment removed

  • 4 notes of the clean main riff are the same!

    what a rip !!!!....

  • dude you obviously dont know music

  • Sanitarium is crap. Rehashed riffs from various Metallica songs topped with inane lyrics. Obviously, you don't know Metallica.

  • You suck compared to Sanitarium.

  • You suck Lars

  • You Must DIE !!!

  • I wished that metallica start listening some quality music again:)

  • forget listening, how bout playing quality music again.

  • This is a great song.

  • How could i Download this??

  • where can i find tabs for this song :D ?

  • in your ear

  • is the song tuned in d?

  • no, it's in E.

  • thanx 4 the upload, a great song.and is rainbow warrior without the s to be exact

  • Hetfield admitted to taking it because he had a lot of respect for Bleak House and most of the songs they're accused of ripping off they actually bought the rights to as a tribute. This is one of them

  • metallica was heavily influenced by the nwobhm(new wave of british heavy metal)especially hetfield&lars.they even released a comp for the 10th anniversary of the movement.their first lps were said to be nwobhm in 45

  • was this their only song?

  • no they released this single called rainbow warrior, the lions in winter ep&a live.actually they have a myspace page with a re-recorded version of this song

  • Can you send me a link? I googled "Bleak House Myspace" and there was a folk band and a house band.

  • It's Graham Shaw's Myspace

  • How does Huey Lewis sue and win on how their song was copied for Ghostbusters and this doesn't? Is Metallica the old Puffy remaking songs?? lol

  • great song

  • metallica debio sacar la idea y luego perfeccionarla

  • To those saying metallica copied the intro...well its a very common chord progression. Every band copies at least one thing from another. Deal with it and enjoy the songs because they both kick ass.

  • i agree

  • @Skullcrusher1

One thing? They copied Maiden, Slayer, Ozzy, Death Angel, etc.

    Song names if you want.

  • @WeHateThePatriots You are entirely missing the point of my posts that you didn't read entirely. I said At LEAST 1 thing All the bands you have named surely copied something from their influences. If nobody copied or emulated there would be mo evolution in the music and half the music that you listen to now would not even exist.

  • @WeHateThePatriots not slayer Metallica was making music before Slayer even really had any impact on the bay area

  • @assault82nd

Listen to Metal Storm by Slayer (1983) and compare it to Creeping Death (1984).

    It's not just a coincidence.

  • @WeHateThePatriots It may or may not be, I have heard the song. The intro is relatively similar. I do recall slayer copied hit the lights with their song agressive perfector

  • @Skullcrusher1 Well its just a very common chord progression? Do you know what the fuck you are talking about? Do you even know what a chord progression is? Thats not a common chord progression, those are the exact same fuckin notes, and James Hetfield even admitted it. Stop trying to kiss Metallica's ass, they're a good band, but its NOT a standard chord progression, idiot. Find me another song that songs exactly like this, huh.

  • @Skullcrusher1 its not that common in fact its quite distinctive. just sayin'.....

  • it is really good

  • any other songs like this from metallica

  • search their covers from nwobhm(blitzkrieg,diamond head,holocaust)

  • oh well still love metallica, weve all done it

  • Thats gotta be one of the worst guitar tones i've ever heard, but yeah James definately 'borrowed' that one lol, I remember him saying in an interview once that he'd nicked the verse riff to that song from a band that "shall remain nameless" guess we know now!

  • one of the worst guitar tones?are you insane man?lol

  • Wow, pretty cool. Definetly similar to Sanitarium, you can tell Metallica lifted part of it

  • it really sounds like sanitarium
