I adpoted a shelter kitty and he is an orange/white tabby. Maybe it's an orange cat thing, because he is the most affectionate, loving creature in the world!! He is only a year old but I love him so much I am afraid I'll go crazy when he dies.
I lost a cat friend like that 10 years ago and I was devastated. Yesterday one of my best friends had the same experience, and I'm at a loss what to say to him. (When a cat has been a member of the family for more than fifteen years it's not just another pet, is it?). Isidor R. I. P.
@systemspel I too just lost a cat who was like this. He was twenty. I think the best thing you can say to your friend is that you understand. A lot of people don't understand grieving for a pet.

The two cats are very opposite: Poppy was very affectionate and followed Amanda around everywhere, always wanting to be with her, but Saffy is resistant to affection and doesn't like being close to people. Amanda thinks she might have Asperger's. I have but for Amanda I'm more like Poppy: I would love to be her cat and I'd be like Poppy.
