Dude, it doesn't matter what it means in Arabic is the meaning. It's like suddenly giving English words different meanings because of their Latin roots. So yes it means sons, and really what do you care its not like you can change the Arabic language.

1) The idea that Muslims came to America before Columbus, based on "linguistic evidence" (T[Allah]assee, [Caliph]ornia) doesn't hold when more plausible word origins are considered.

2) Yes, there were (some!) black slaves who came to America as Muslims. But Muslims were also the dominant merchant class (...slave traders) in West Africa at the time, so one cannot say that Islam has any significant historical connection to black liberation before the mid-20th century.

If have more than a cursory understanding of the teachings of Drew Ali, you should understand that Islam is older than Muhammad, Jesus etc. The MST of A cannot be deviant, as you call them as long as they don't stray from the faith of Abraham. The Sunnah can provide a nice structure for your spiritual life, but it doesn't take a genius to understand that much of "Sunni" Islam is nothing more than arab culture, tradition and superstition.
