Buddhism was a rejection of Hinduism (as it is now known). Whilst Jainism didn't spread because of its orthodoxy, India became a buddhist country and that period is referred to as India's golden age. Angulimala is a unique film as its the only film in which Buddhism features with any significance and only as a result of the producer NOT being a hindu. Amrapali is another film from Buddhist scriptures, but has a very diluted reference to Buddhism. May Buddhist conversions continue in India.

The singer is Manna Dey. Listening to the whole song is a divinely calming experience. It is a trance. There are several renditions of the same song but nothing can replace this original. I was at a Buddhist cave in Ajanta/Elora where a singer chanted this song. Nothing could have made my trip so divine as he did.

Since Buddhism started, the B monks used the ahimsa or nonviolence on their practice and to spread the religion, they used the kings to convert the people into Buddhism or used the rebellions to capture to kingdoms to do the conversions. Then India and far eastern countries realized and got rid of those monks. Hinduism, Taoism and Shintoism started to grow back from their victimized stage (by Buddhism) to current stage.
