  • LOL the ending of this clip is amazing... visiting Senator Barack Obama's office, asking he "reconsider" his stance on nationalized healthcare and watch the Sicko movie. Wow. Today some people think he is the antichrist who will destroy the country because of offering a public option to people for healthcare. If the people walking into that office only knew who they were delivering the DVD to... hahaha That delivery was eventually going to be their greatest supporter! Wow.

Regardless of how you feel about Universal Healthcare(Christianized Medicine for you right wing ideologues) this point exemplifies perhaps more than any other a fundamental flaw with our economy. If you look at America as a corporation, then we are purposefully giving a competitive advantage to every other industrialized nation in the world because there private businesses don't have to pay these expenses!

  • Cindi3847..... I think maybe you need to be put in a home. Medicare/Medicaid accounts for 51% of total healthcare expenditures in this country! I bet you didn't know that did you? That's right the majority of healthcare in this country is ran by the "Federal Government." THis whole time have you felt intimidated by the Fed's when you've went to the doctor? Please educate yourself and realize that someone in America loses their home every 30 seconds becuase of a lack of healthcare!

  • I live in Serbia (Eastern Europe ex communist block) and have a healtcare system where I pay 150$ per month through taxes for my health insurance that covers EVERYTHING. Perscription medications are FREE and available.Poor people don't have to pay anything, the goverment takes care of it. The doctors salary is evaluated on basis of how many patients he succesfully treated and can work in any institution of his personal choice.And we are a poor country compared to US...

  • Open question to anyone. Seriously, do Americans really believe the garbage they are being told about the Canadian Health Care system? I am over 60, lived in Canada all my life, have had some health problems, and have been looked after when needed, by a doctor or hospitial of my choice and never paid a dime. For the life of me, I can't realistically understand why the Canadian system is considered inferior to the US Health services in any area.

Also does anyone think for a second, if a member of fox news, government official or any major media outlet needed care, that the insurance agency would turn them down? ha no way.   • So where does all that money on Taxes go, to weapons research, plastic surgery research, fake hollywood. I don't get it.   • Most of you don't understand how our federal government is financed. America is actually a collateral holding that depends on borrowing from the private Federal Reserve. In exchange for trillions in credit, we forfeit America's commons, public infrastructure, roads, ports, etc. to the shareholders of the Fed, World Bank, etc. The American people are no longer part of the economic infrastructure; we are seen as a liability to be salvaged off. America will NEVER have ethical health care again.

  • I live in Norway(northern europe). We have national healthcare, and are nr 1 on Un's list of "best country in the world to live in", closely followed by Canada. That is an estimate based on the living standards of the average citizen.

    We have an abundant wealth, and still we have free healthcare and free education (college, university)

    That the economical stance is lower is: simply... not... true. It is a lie, fed to the american people over decades

Dennis Kucinich IS the best Democratic candidate, but Ron Paul is the best Republican candidate and one of the best to run for president in a long time.   • I take it you have never studied Game Theory before, nor are you a good chess player. Lets take Hillary Care for example. A mandate that you must have health insurance (or be sent to jail/pay fine). You can choose to buy private insurance or take what the government has to offer.

    As a result of adverse selection private companies will only insure the young and healthy. Everyone else will be denied...

  • The minute someone with private insurance gets sick, their coverage gets denied. Taxpayers then start picking up the bill. Private insurers can charge premiums and never have to pay for catastrophic care. Profit margins for insurers soar from their measely 2% to 10% or more.

    Sicko is a ridiculously biased movie, but this won't be evident to those completely devoid of a basic understanding of statistics and economics.

  • THANKS to the Nurses and Dr.s who are taking a stand to speak up in favor H.R.676 and to Micheal Moore for his movie. I am a health care worker. I see the realities of our NON-health care system daily.

  • Healthcare was never brought up until Hillary did (at Bill's request) and it was slammed by the GOPhers who had no plan of their own. And still don't. I have no healthcare. But I do have emphysema and can choose to get my breathing medicine at CVS for $200 a month. Or from a Canadian pharmacy at $90 a month. Or from an Indian pharmacy at $70 a month. I really like to breathe. So which one do I go to? Guess.

  • PLEASE support H.R. 676 NOW! We really don't need the insurance company middle men! I know I give them money EVERY month and I still can't afford to get well checks, so I can't imagine what will happen if I get sick! We NEED this in the United States! Our health care providers also need to NOT be controlled by the insurance companies to provide us with the care we may need!
