To all of those who are wondering 'where everyone was' while MJ was drugging himself to death, the answer is that he had a LOT of friends and family who were trying to help him. Interventions were staged but it's the same old sad story ~ a person cannot be helped if they don't want to help themselves. Michael would freeze people out if they tried to talk to him about his drug intake and he would fire staffers too if they even so much as mentioned his drug habits. He did whatever he wanted.
