Very low chance it would kill civilization because virus outbreaks are usually self-limiting. If it were to get to the point where it killed enough people, it would have a hard time spreading since the carriers would be dead. The proximity of the hosts is important.

I've never taking the flu shot in my 45 years. I've only gotten the flu maybe 4-5 times. This is all a hoax and don't be fooled by it. Taking the vaccine that they plan to administrate will probably kill or cause premenate damage, more than what this flu will do.

This my take on the swine flu:
It's just a normal flu that is being taking out of perportion. It has killed far less Mexicans than has been previous reported. WHO has got the whole world in developing a vaccine to fight against it. Because of this, the yearly vaccine to fight the typical flu will be ignored. Thus killing, hunders of thousand that totally depend on it. Don't be fooled by this recent scare and the mainstream media hype.

just check out the number of "suspected cases", "confirmed cases" and deaths. If you take out the suspected cases and only consider the number of confirmed cases in which death occured, it doesn't seem like a serious pandemic. Why should EVERYONE who is returning home from a trip to Mexico be carrying the virus? And why should EVERY country to which those planes are flying have the virus spreading through the population ???

i find this very disheartening because i really want to believe that our governments would be honest enough to not lie about something like the "swine flu" but the reality is that it almost makes more sense that it is a hoax. im not saying that this is all a hoax but it does seem like something to keep in mind. oh and ironically enough i got the flu a bit more than a week ago and i was over it in 24 hours and i live with my grandparents who are in their 80's and they didnt get sick.

The virus is real. EVEN BBC is reporting that Mexico is the source. Why would they be falling in line to bail out the U.S. I don't buy it.
That said, you might be right that the US will still use this virus as a scapegoat.

Hang on.Any strain of influenza can kill.(unreported 10,000/yr in UK) If i had flu in London and the media traced my strain as it spread from continent to continent (air plane),and within communities (therefore a pandemic) would it not show a similar pattern of spread as we see with swine flu? Both examples new strains(via mutation), therefore no immediate vaccine for either. We don't have enough data at the moment to say Swine Flu will kill more people than other examples of 'unreported' flu ?

As for it effecting the economy - of course they'd say that - everything that's featured in the news effects the economy in some way, be it a dramatic fashion or a more subtle one.
