I disagree with HItchens, but even if I didn't: the religious idea of heaven isn't that one is eternally forced to do nothing but praise a being who may or may not deserve it, but rather, of being allowed to spend every moment in the presence of a being who is deserving of everlasting praise. The idea is that the praise isn't a duty, it's an indicator of the awesomeness of such a god.

I read Hitchens, I've met him, I've spoken with him and he is a not only a genius but he's funny and warm. Brilliant. They guy just owns every challenger. And he's a damn good writer. It is a shame some of his books are out of print: the one on Mother Theresa and the one on the Clintons. There ought to be more public figures like him. We'd all be more knowledgeable.

How can you possibly compare GOD with Kim Jong IL, the leader of North Korea. Kim Jong IL like you Mr. Hitchens is also an atheist as was Mao Zedong and Joseph Stalin, the 20th century's biggest mass killers. The thing about atheists is that they don't answer to anyone (not even God) but themselves. Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin proved to himself that he can commit all the atrocities that he wanted because he had no one to answer to. That is the definition of arrogance if you ask me.

This is what I don't like. I am completely fine with other religions and atheists. I think that they have the right to choose what they want to believe. I always hear atheists complain about how religious people look down on them for their beliefs. But thats what exactly what athiests do! "I have no respect for anyone that has that belief". As long as their not bothering you respect their beliefs otherwise you are no better than a self-righteous theist.

I read Hitchens, I've met him, I've spoken with him and he is a not only a genius but he's funny and warm. Brilliant. They guy just owns every challenger. And he's a damn good writer. It is a shame some of his books are out of print: the one on Mother Theresa and the one on the Clintons. There ought to be more public figures like him. We'd all be more knowledgeable.
